“This was our first experience of a self catering holiday.”
We were a bit wary about the accommodation, being a ground floor apartment within a family home but our fears were unfounded. The accommodation was extremely comfortable, immaculately clean, with a well equipped kitchen, plenty of storage for clothing, Not an essential but we had the benefit of Sky tv plus an excellent wi-fi connection. It was ideal for the two of us. We were not disturbed by our hosts, Tina and Terry, who were not at all intrusive. They were on hand should we needed any help and found them easy to talk too, very warm and friendly. Not only was the property well appointed but there was an excellent and beautiful large private garden, which was not overlooked, enabling us to have a couple of barbecue's during our stay. As well as the barbecue, there was a table with parasol, two chairs plus two garden chairs. There are three short walks down to the beach, one down the main road leading to the Post Office, local shops and an excellent Chinese Restaurant, the second by walking down a side road towards the playing fields (our preferred option) or by taking a public footpath which took you down the side of the cliff (great views of the bay) and through a field towards the Treaddur Bay Hotel. We were treated with a bottle of bubbly on our arrival which was really appreciated after our long journey. Excellent apartment and excellent hosts. Without hesitation we recommend the Gables Retreat If returning to the area, we would, without any hesitation return. Tina and Terry have set a high bench mark for self catering apartments and we were truly spoiled. Let's hope our second self catering holiday can meet the Gables Retreat extremely high standards
