“Not sure why we bothered booking through Menai Holidays when all the communications (if you could ever get through) were with Sykes.”
It was impossible to contact Menai Holidays direct.This meant it was not easy to get action taken quickly when a problem arose like having to wait nearly five days for the previous guests' five bags of dirty linen to be removed from the hallway. We also reported that there was no working sink plug in the kitchen and no washing up bowl so much water was wasted. The TV controls were poor and, given that there was reasonable Wi-Fi, it was a shame that despite, for example, BBC IPlayer, showing on screen, it was not available.
We were disappointed that some of the drapes in the lounge were torn and dirty and, when we removed the duvet cover from the bed in the second bedroom, we found it very stained. Surely, this should have been spotted when changing the beds.
When we arrived, there was a message from the previous guest stating that the hinge on one of the downstairs doors was broken (message left 3/10/25) but nothing had been actioned. We reported this to you via Sykes and it was fixed on Monday 13th.
Despite spending much time chasing Sykes, we did love the property, having last spent a couple of weeks there in 1982. We would book again on the assumption that some attention has been given to our comments but would remain concerned about the lines of communication. This is in so many ways a unique and wonderful property let down by the niggles mentioned above.
Thank you for your feedback. To clarify, we employ a housekeeping service that is made available 24/7 for any issues during your stay which is independent of Sykes. The phone number and details are clearly provided in a laminated welcome sheet which is left in the kitchen table with welcome instructions when you arrive. Had you called this number we would have been able to deal with these issues immediately. We did, however, deal with them as soon as we were notified by Sykes.
The hinge has been fixed and I have alerted the cleaners to inspect the bedding and curtains and replace as necessary.
