The photoshoot is one of the most exciting parts of your letting journey! Customers are much more likely to click on a holiday cottage with picturesque décor or beautiful views. We understand that a lot of owners are new to the letting process so we have created a helpful blog to ensure that your cottage is photo-shoot ready!
The Day of Your Shoot
A few weeks before, you will be contacted by our fabulous team who will provide you with a date and time scale for your shoot (how exciting!).
On the day, Our photographer will arrive with lots of props/ decorations. You can also add your own decorations if you prefer.
You are welcome to be present at the photo shoot, however, it is much easier for our photographer if the property is empty as this ensures that she can take all the shots she needs without any distractions/disturbances.
Please make sure that your spare keys are in a key safe on arrival.
Clean and Tidy
- Clean, hoover and dust rooms – especially side tables and lights
- Double-check that all lights are working
- Remove any personal belongings i.e. coats, bags & clothing
- Make sure blinds are dusted and none are broken
- Place some fresh flowers in vases around the house to brighten up the space
Little Finishing Touches
- If you provide a welcome pack, why not have this setup and ready for your photos?
- Fresh flowers really add a pop of colour to your photos
- If you have time, clean your windows. It really makes a difference in your photos, especially if you have sea views!
Garden
- Have a general tidy up of the garden and the front of the house. The front of the house is the first thing that guests will see when they arrive. Cutting the grass or doing a light spot of weeding can really make a difference! We are unable to edit plants, weeds and trees are out of photos, so if you want your cottage to look fresh and maintained, please ensure that this is carried out before the photographers’ arrival.
Kitchen
- Move bins/ recycling out of sight
- Any washing up should be put away out of sight
- Dress the table – you could add some candles, a homemade cake or even some fresh flowers
Living Areas / Bedrooms
- Make sure that the bedding and pillowcases match
- Clean and iron bedding – ensure that the bedding is free of marks or stains
- Make sure that any personal items are hidden away in the draws
- Check that bedside lamps are working – our photographer may want to switch these on to ‘set the scene’
- If you would like to add towels to the bottom of the bed, please roll or fold these neatly.
Painting
- Check all walls for scuff marks, dents and paint peels – it is important to keep on top of this as you want your cottage to look well maintained and ‘fresh’.
- See if the outdoor furniture needs sanding/varnishing – this will make your furniture more durable and long-lasting ahead of a busy season!
Maintenance
- Patio/ decking – nobody wants a green patio! Ensure that the decking is clean and that large weeds have been removed
- Make sure that all facilities are in a good condition. i.e. no leaks, broken tiles, broken draws etc
- Make sure that the outside of your property is clear of any rubbish including cardboard, bikes, general waste and children’s toys.
Furniture
- Prior to your photo shoot, please ensure that any furniture is built. If there is missing furniture in bedrooms etc, it can be difficult for us to provide you with the best photos as it will not be a true reflection of how the cottage will look.
- Fix/repair any broken furniture prior to the photo shoot – if the furniture is broken/ in bad repair, we may not be able to feature it in your photos.
