However we were very disappointed with the cleanliness of the cottage. Dirt and grime mixed with very old spiders webs behind the furniture and, worse, behind and underneath the beds and also on the surfaces of the bed frames. We spent a couple of hours vacuum cleaning these areas so that we could sleep. The bed sheet on the main double bed had blood stains and hairs. We are not convinced that the sheets were replaced after the last occupier. Not pleasant at all. In the bathroom the shower curtain was in need of urgent renewal with dirt and mould and old soap covering the lower half. It was obvious that the cleaners are just cleaning the main visible surfaces and are not paying attention to detail. With hind-sight we should have contacted the owners on arrival and demanded that they correct the issues. We are reasonable people and do not demand 100% perfection but this was really unacceptable. It is a real shame that our holiday, the first since lockdown, was spoilt in this way. Clearly the cottage has great potential and the facilities are good. But the cleanliness was quite appalling.
We regret that the customers did not raise this issue at the time so we could have rectified any problems. We are also sorry to hear that the cleanliness of the cottage was below the customers standard. We are speaking with our cleaning team regarding the issues raised and doing a personal visit to inspect the premises this week.
