“Good location for Beaumaris, however Gadlys St is so narrow only a VERY small car can get down.”

Cannot see the sign coach house as is covered in shrubbery, you wouldn’t find it in the dark. Door entrance could be cleaned to look more inviting. Central heating instructions do not marry up with the system in the cottage so it couldn’t be used, but there is an electric fire. Unless you have a smart phone TV very difficult to use, even then it was tricky ( previously reported by guests). Cleanliness and maintenance needed a lot to be desired. Freezer not defrosted( previously reported by other guests), one broken dining chair ( reported almost a year ago by other guests),all shelving, coasters, glass tables not cleaned/ polished, finger marks, thick dust on shelves and smeary on arrival. I had to clean the fridge on arrrival…. Not cleaned between guests. Main light above seating area and clock on wall not working. Leaking external guttering which neighbours complained about to us. Generally damp musty smell downstairs where bedrooms are; counterpane on bed stained. There is a notebook to report issues to “ housekeeping” - guests have done this but nothing really done about issues and nothing getting reported further to Sykes…..only in this book which only housekeeping seem to read but do nothing about.

We find this damming report mostly inaccurate. Of 27 separate weekly lets in 2025, no others reported problems such as this and most expressed satisfaction as indicated by the scores. Our housekeeper was indignant and denies that fridge and freezer were uncleaned or that cleanliness was poor pointing out that no other guests have complained. The central heating controls or new TV are not a problem to all other guests. The main light works normally. We accept the clock battery had failed but was replaced and now works. Gadlys Lane ,like many in this medieval town is difficult for diffident drivers but most guests manage it for unloading even with large cars and there is ample nearby parking as set out in the Coach House Manual. The broken dining chair was repaired as soon as occupancy allowed. We accept the wisteria around the name slightly obscured it and it will be cut back as it grows vigorously. We do not agree that there is a damp musky smell nor does any other guest. Our neighbour confirmed that she had not complained about the minor leak from our gutter now repaired ! Property Owner

The coach house was beautiful.It felt like home.The bed was so comfortable.It had everything you needed.Beaumaris was so stunning,lovely shops restaurants things to do beautiful walks lovely sunsets and sunrise.I cant fault this cottage we travel a lot round wales and been to outstanding places,but Angelsey is one of our favourite places.Amazing,beautiful, Stunning well worth.If you want outstanding beauty you will love this place. 10/10

“The cottage is in an ideal location, in a quiet street just a couple of minutes walk to the Main Street and all the amenities.”

We had difficulty finding it as the sign was covered by foliage. Look for the bay window on the upper floor and the door is round the corner opposite the black garage door. We parked up outside the cottage to unload the car and tried to buy a weekly pass on the green. There were none available and we didn’t want a weekly ticket as this can only be used when there is an attendant there. As it happened we managed to find free parking in nearby streets all week. The upside down cottage is lovely. All the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The shower is great, the double bed was comfy, there was a hairdryer and plenty of coat hangers. We only are breakfast in the cottage, but the kitchen was well laid out. There is a dishwasher, (take your own tablets) and a washer/dryer. It’s worth getting a joint ticket to the Gaol and Courthouse and the Castle was good to explore. We would recommend walks to Ynys Llanddwyn, Eglwys Cwyfan, but check tide times first. We enjoyed the walk from Red Wharfe Bay to Benllech, after refreshments in The Boathouse. We ate at The Liverpool Arms a few times and enjoyed meals at The George and Dragon and The Midland (tapas). The 2 of us had a fabulous week, thank you

It didn’t help that it was hard to make out hot from cold on the direction markers. The lighting was good and the beds were extremely comfortable and much appreciated. One bedside lamp in the double bed room has a dodgy switch.

Everything you need is here. Less than 2 minutes walk from the centre of the town and 30 seconds from the sea. I think if there was a parking space this cottage would be perfect for a small family or couple. Once you find somewhere to park don't move the car unless you have to.

Plenty of local shops and a fantastic Bakery. Kitchen well equipped. Very comfy bed. Nicely decorated. Only negatives -No instructions on how to use the electric hob. -Buzz on TV -some areas of cleaning missed-under sofas and lots of cobwebs in beams. I know spiders are unavoidable but there's more than a few webs. -smell of mould in bathroom but this will probably be due to previous people not opening the bathroom window. -Padlock tricky to pop key back in, maybe need one a bit deeper. However, I would say it's a lovely property and worth a stay.

“As soon as we walked in we had a really homely feeling.”

It was a beautifully decorated place and was really comfortable. Nice and private tucked away. Very quiet and relaxing. It had all the facilities we needed and more. So on the whole brilliant. If I was to have a slight issue it would be the clear glass panel in the front door, I would put a small curtain on it to draw to at night for privacy as anyone walking past can see in and there is a cctv camera on the garage opposite which potentially is pointing in. The only other thing was the tv kept buzzing but we weren’t there to watch tv but at night when the kids were in bed we would watch it for a bit and that was a bit annoying, but the place was so nice I don’t like to complain, but if no one mentioned it you wouldn’t know and couldn’t sort it out. But great holiday and will be back. Thank you

The only criticsm by this guest was the `locks`by which he means a new Yale look which failed, did not inconvenience the guest (as it was the second lock !)and was rapidly repaired by Timpsons who had never previously experienced such a defect. We cannot see how this could lead to a low score in `maintenance`. Property Owner

We had a comfortable stay and a great week. The Coach House is a unusual small cottage down a quiet alley way, seconds away from the beautiful front at Beaumaris. We liked the upside down design especially in the hot weather and would stay again. We knew there was no garden and did use the seating outside the front door in the 'heat wave' which was great. It was just a shame that the black bin was so full though the heat was unprecedented so I can't fault the cottage for that.

“What a great property The Coachouse is.”

It’s perfectly located just yards from both the main High Street where all the pubs and restaurants are located and similarly just from the quayside with fantastic views across the Menai Straits and Snowdonia Hills beyond. It’s an ‘upside down’ cottage so the bedrooms and bathroom are downstairs and then when you go upstairs there’s a real ‘wow factor’ when you first see the open plan living area with the vaulted ceiling. For a couple it’s a really comfortable location. Tastefully decorated and very cosy. We combined eating out with a few meals in and found everything we needed to be self sufficient. Thank you The Coachouse, we loved your accommodation and introduction to Anglesey, we’ll certainly return very soon.

The property is very central to everything in Beaumaris but quiet and peaceful due to being tucked away down a narrow lane. It is well equipped and the beds are very comfy. A great base to return to each day after exploring the island.

“On arrival the property smelled musty and damp and cold.”

We found the problem with the heating. The clock was an hour slow. After a couple of days the property was more comfortable. The kitchen equipment was rather minimal . Lacking a casserole dish, soup ladle and only very few kitchen knives. Some of the kitchen items were dusty so hadn't been washed for our tenancy. However the bed was really comfy and we sorted the heating without adjusting the clock and enjoyed our stay. It's an excellent central location

Thanks for the comments. The central heating was on continuous (48hours before arrival !)for which the summer time setting was not relevant ! However it is now corrected. We have now provided a casserole dish, soup ladle and more kitchen knives. We will check for dustiness of utensils ! Mrs FRH Property Owner

“There was no internet due to a BT fault and even if there was, the setup was not ideal.”

It relied on a wi-if extender from the owners nearby property. Had I known this I would not have booked. Also there is literally no 4G in that area. Not the fault of the property, but still good to know. We received £50 compensation from the owner but she kept sending us angry emails, it almost ruined our holiday. It’s a shame as otherwise the place is very nice with loads of character.

“A problem we always experience with these places is a lack of kitchen equipment 4knives spoons forks and mugs means that you are continually washing up or using the dishwasher half empty A decent non stick frying pan would also have been an asset In these days of covid we of course ate I in more than usual so it was particularly noticeable The builder re-roofing the next door garage with an angle grinder at 8 am was a bit much but nothing you could do about that!”

“The Coach House is excellently positioned to take advantage of Beaumaris’ eateries, pubs, shops and beach.”

We had a great week in the cottage however there are a few things that would improve the overall experience including a new mattress in the main bedroom, which has seen better days, improved Wi-Fi as the connection is poor, kitchen essentials such as a bigger frying pan and a new tin opener which is as blunt as a butter knife. It really is is the small things that make a big difference to the cottage.

“As you may know, we arrived to find the house hadn't been cleaned.”

This was then dealt with quite effectively. We appreciated the £50 discount in light of this. The next day, we reported a fault with the TV - this was eventually dealt with at the end of the day, after I chased up my phone call. Also the front door lock panel came off and my husband fixed this, without involving you. Despite these hitches, we had a lovely stay - we like the cottage and its glimpse of the sea.

“We enjoyed our break at the coach house,beumaris.”

One downside there was limited parking. Your website said we could get a weekly parking pass for the green car park. On the day we arrived there was no attendant there so paid £6 for 3 hours. Then at 6 went back to put another £1 in so car was valid for the night. Same problem following day too. On the monday found an attendant. Paid £20 to last rest of week plus £10 deposit. Had to cut holiday short & left Thursday. Went to take pass back & surprisingly no attendant there so could not get deposit back. Also no way of leaving barrier pass anywhere at car park so would like to know how to give pass back & get deposit back?

“Delightful property in Beaumaris.”

No problems at all with the property or with Sykes. Property was well equipped (tea/coffee/milk all provided as well as everything else we needed in kitchen). Property has a DVD player and a number of DVDs to watch. There are also books and games. Excellent information on both the property itself and the surrounding area provided in a folder in the property. Note Galdys Lane is very narrow but you can drive up it to drop off bags (but only a short walk from either end of the lane). If you drive up the lane from the sea front (as we did) the property is on the left hand side. We missed it first time in the dark so stopped at the other end and walked back down to find the house.

Lack of parking space not a major problem as large public car park not far away and a week long parking pass was easily obtained. The "key safe" by front door probably should be replaced as not easy to open or close. On arrival there was great alarm when we managed to open the safe to find keys were not there. After several minutes of panic we eventually found keys under plant pot- not secure situation.

Perfect position for the town and waterside. Parking is away from the house but was easy to find space on the seafront road nearby. The road alley way to the house is very tight but possible to get a car down to unload.

Felt very homely and quiet. Very disappointed was lead to believe there was a parking permit for the week. But on arrival discovered this was not the case. Which occurred an extra cost of £20.00 to park on the green as it was a nightmare to park anywhere else. So why was we not informed of this before we arrived.

The property

The Coach House is a quiet well appointed holiday cottage in the middle of charming old Beaumaris a few minutes from the seafront, shops, restaurants and pubs.

Notably there is a fine bakery just 80 yards away. The first floor is a large beamed open lounge, dining and kitchen combined.

The lounge area has comfortable sofas and a smart TV (with streaming if guest has an account) and an electric flame effect fire.

There is strong WIFI.

The kitchen is fully equipped including dishwasher, microwave etc. The ground floor has one bedroom with a double bed and one with twin beds.

The bathroom has bath and shower.

There is gas central heating with easy to control thermostat. An outside area is graveled and has a table and chairs.

(Neighbours can pass by) Gadlys lane allows a car to stop for unloading but parking has to be in adjoining streets or on the large sea front Green .

(weekly passes for £50 available from kiosk on the Green 9 to 4 or overnight meter £7.50). A car is not needed for extensive local attractions like restaurants and local sites.

There are also maps (including os map of Anglesey) and directions for local walks along the coastline and inland through attractive woodland scenery.

BEAUMARIS

Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.

Note: Guests should note the gravelled area outside has a pedestrian right of way for a neighbouring property.
Note: As with many cottages in Beaumaris there is no allocated parking but a car can be stopped for loading/unloading - guests can use neighbouring side streets or purchase a weekly ticket for The Green.
