“Second year running we have stayed here.”

Love the area, cottage has everything we needed, though a welcome pack would have been appreciated as every other Sykes cottage we have stayed in does this gesture. Not a big thing though. The proximity of shops is also a plus. Everything very easy to use, lovely and warm. Plan to book for same week next year. Just love the relaxing atmosphere. Sorry to leave.

The property

This modern, detached cottage rests beautifully along the coastline of Porth y Pwll, with glorious views out to sea and the town of Holyhead close by.

Boasting an elevated position, this cottage is ideal for couples, families and friends, offering a contemporary-style interior and many attractions nearby keeping you entertained.

There is off-road parking on the driveway and an open front lawn with a surrounding shrubbery.

You are invited into the hallway by a sweeping wooden floor, which leads through to the bedrooms and sitting room.

The double rooms have en-suite facilities, whilst the twin room is served by the gleaming bathroom.

Relax your muscles after a day on the beach, with a hot soak in the sunken bathtub before putting your feet up with a glass of wine in the lounge.

Upstairs, the second living room makes the most of the coastal views, with a lovely arrangement of furnishings, exposed ceiling beams and double doors to a balcony.

Unwind in front of the open fire and take in the peaceful surroundings as you catch up on events from the day.

You can grab a book off the shelf to read or tune into the TV for a relaxed evening with your family.

The kitchen is next door, with a bright dining area and a sleek preparation island for the chef of the group to rustle up a delicious meal.

From the dining area is a set of French doors to another balcony enjoying the sea views and you also have a rear garden with a decked patio and furniture to sit on.

This popular village, surrounded by some fabulous beaches of the area, offers a local mini supermarket and a variety of eateries.

The town of Holyhead is within driving distance, with a railway station, a ferry port with regular crossings to and from Ireland, as well as the start of the A55 expressway taking you right across the island and over to North Wales.

Enjoy a picnic at Breakwater Country Park, which provides scenic trails, birdwatching and a lake with fishing.

You can also pay a visit to South Stack Lighthouse on the northwest coast, not forgetting a climb to the peak of Holyhead Mountain and an afternoon uncovering seafaring history at the Holyhead Maritime Museum.

Sea Point is a beautiful home, ideal for a quality break by the sea.

About the location

TREARDDUR BAY

Holyhead 2 miles.

Trearddur Bay is situated on the western shore of Holy Island. It’s truly beautiful - a great sweep of low grassy coastline indented with rocky coves and fine sandy beaches (European Blue Flag). Watersports, bathing, sailing and windsurfing are the main activities in the summer months and golfers will enjoy the excellent Holyhead 18 hole links golf course. It’s a great place for nature lovers with renowned birdwatching at the South Stack Lighthouse RSPB Reserve and lots of rock pools and cliff top walks to explore. There are shops, pubs and restaurants in Trearddur Bay itself and nearby Holyhead offers a wider range of amenities, including a very good leisure centre, an interesting harbour front, a marina, the world’s second longest breakwater and exciting day trips to Dublin on the ferry. The Maritime Museum in Holyhead has an excellent cafe and the beautiful Holyhead Breakwater Country Park has walks for you to enjoy. Further afield there is the stunning Newborough with its excellent woodland and beach and Beaumaris with its town and castle. A great location with plenty to see and do!
