PORTHMADOG

Harlech 5 miles; Caernarfon 19 miles.

Porthmadog is a lively harbour town set on the Glaslyn Estuary on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. Within easy walking distance you’ll find a good range of independent shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs, along with the harbour area, playground and scenic coastal and hill walks. The town is also home to the famous Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways, where historic steam trains travel through the spectacular scenery of Snowdonia.

Just outside the town is the charming village of Borth-y-Gest, known for its peaceful harbour, sheltered coves and coastal paths. The unique Italianate village of Portmeirion lies just down the coast, set on its own private peninsula and surrounded by woodland and sea views. The area also offers beautiful beaches such as Black Rock Sands, historic castles at Criccieth and Harlech, and plenty of outdoor activities.
