“Loved the apartment.”

It’s beautiful and just like the pictures. The location was great we were so close to everything and used the local restaurants which were all amazing - isis, the ice cream shop, teds, the lobster pot and Barmouth bar and grill. The view was so beautiful and we would spend hours looking out over the harbour at the boats and tides coming in and out. The beach is so close and we went every day. We parked in the public car park by the bath house and would just grab our beach supplies on the ...

It’s beautiful and just like the pictures. The location was great we were so close to everything and used the local restaurants which were all amazing - isis, the ice cream shop, teds, the lobster pot and Barmouth bar and grill. The view was so beautiful and we would spend hours looking out over the harbour at the boats and tides coming in and out. The beach is so close and we went every day. We parked in the public car park by the bath house and would just grab our beach supplies on the way to the beach which was really handy. The downside was on our first night the neighbour below complained of our children moving around which was frustrating as we had only been there 4 hours and we were unpacking, plus they were excited - this put a bit of a dampener on the holiday as we were constantly trying to be quiet but noise does travel as stated in the welcome folder so just be aware of any heavy feet. Also deliveries arrive at the restaurants below on some mornings and on the Friday they delivered at 6:30 in the morning and were banging the metal staircase that leads to the apartment for an hour.

Hi Gemma, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback following your recent stay at Harbour View. I'm so pleased you all enjoyed the apartment, and overall had a lovely time. The lady who resides beneath is usually always very understanding and co-operative when it comes to any noise from up above. Its important to me that neither guests, or other residents are inconvenienced so to that end, I have limited the number of occupants to 3 adults going forward, and will remove the bunk beds at the end of the season. The noise does travel so the least I can do is consider my neighbours, of course. Access via the alleyway, and fire escape isn't ideal either, especially given restaurant delivery times at this time of the year. I wish this wasn't the price we have to pay for being able to enjoy the wonderful view, and the extensive choice of facilities within minutes of the flat. “Really lovely accommodation.”

Very clean and tidy with an excellent view across the estuary. Easy walk to Barmouth town centre and beach and a great base to discover mid Wales! I would be happy to stay there again

“Beautiful apartment, clean, modern, tasteful and comfortable.”

Breath taking harbour view from large bay window and two very well appointed chairs/footstools to enjoy this for hours! Very communicative and helpful host who responded immediately. Fire escape stairs to enter/exit were a challenge with heavy bags so recommend you travel light (this is made clear in the description before you book). Would probably remove Sky TV and replace TV with a modern Smart TV (much cheaper and less hassle for the host too). This would enable customers to login in to whichever services (Netflix, Prime,ITVX etc) that have access to at home. Working with a Sky planner and recording programmes into a planner was a blast from the past! You don’t really use this apartment for TV when you have that view of course, but at night a Smart TV with all the usual Apps would have been welcomed. Sadly I would not book through Sykes again as they took far too long to respond and even then it was far from seamless.

The view is incredible, so good that we didn’t care it rained for the majority of our stay as who cares if they’re rained in when they have a view like that?! We struggled to find it at first as it is actually called 2 Tudor house on the stairs, not harbour view as stated and also the alleyway is at the side of Teds and not the Anchor inn as also stated in the directions. We had a wonderful stay, very relaxing and beautiful surroundings.

“Wonderful place to stay, the flat was beautiful.”

With all the comforts of home from comfortable beds to all the kitchen amenities. The view is spectacular from the front windows and the binoculars came in very handy. The only downside was my little dog wouldn't walk up and down the fire escape stairs, so having to carry him, but it didn't ruin our stay.

“Absolutely beautiful!”

! The view has to be the best in Barmouth it takes your breath away when you walk in. The flat is immaculate and has everything you need and more. All the rooms are lovely and it’s spotless. “Our second time at Harbour View - better than home from home because of the big bay window, overseeing the estuary, Barmouth bridge, passing trains, and of course - the harbour.”

Didn’t put the tele on once! It’s a good climb up the external metal stairway to this second floor haven, which fortunately isn’t a problem to us. Lovely clean, high quality facilities, and a very comfortable bed. That’s all we need. Hope to be back soon.

“Wow! What a fabulous apartment, which is very comfortable, well equipped, and close to all the local amenities.”

Ideally situated for beach walks and exploring Barmouth and the surrounding areas. Access is via a metal fire escape to the rear, but appreciate that this cannot be helped, and gives the most wonderful harbour views from the property. Highly recommend this as a place to stay if access isn’t an issue.

There are security lights along the alleyway, though I'm totally reliant on the other occupants putting them on. The restaurant 'Ted's' has two on the corner and the occupant of the flat below me has one too. I will send a polite request to ask them to put them on again, as although my lights come on as soon as you're on the fire escape, it would help to have more. “The property has one of the best views in Barmouth - looking over the harbour to Barmouth bridge and Cadair Idris.”

The flat is warm, comfortable and well equipped, with modern kitchen appliances, modern bathroom, and a very comfortable bed. Access is the only negative factor. It's through a back alleyway and up two flights of exterior steps. Luggage transfer wasn't simple! Once inside the flat, it's another world. It was a great base for a week's walking and I'd certainly choose to revisit.

“Just back from a week in harbour view.”

What can I say? If you like a view look no further. It’s the best view we’ve ever had. Very nice apartment with everything you need. Very handy for a dog friendly beach, the town and some wonderful walks. We love this area but first time in Barmouth. As previously mentioned the entrance is round the back and up the fire escape which would be a challenge if you have mobility issues perhaps. Once you open the door and spy that view it’s like another world.

“Absolutely fantastic views!”

I sat on the window at every opportunity watching the changing tides and weather. We stayed for Christmas and the apartment was clean and lovely decorated. The living room is comfortable as are the beds. The communication was excellent from the owner. I would recommend if your taking a dog that you check they will walk up metal fire escape stairs, ours wouldnt so had to be carried up them all

“So grateful to have stayed at this hidden harbour view gem.”

You would never believe how perfect the accommodation is from the approach (which is via a narrow back alley, behind a row of shops and accessed by a metal fire escape) but please don’t let this put you off. As soon as you open the front door you can see how clean and tastefully decorated it is. The kitchen seems brand new and contains everything you might need. The main attraction is the view - such a cliche with this accommodation but you’ll spend most of your time sitting in the bay window looking at the water, the hills, wildlife, boats etc etc etc. The sun rises right in front of you, from behind the hills - such a privilege to see every clear morning. Must also mention the owner who is proactive, friendly and easy to contact. We had a wonderful time and would love to return one day.

“This must be the best location in Barmouth!”

! Despite the instructions we could not get the hob or cooker to operate. We didn't use the washer because there was no airer to dry the clothes. Apart from that the accommodation was fine.

I would have gladly arranged for our housekeeper to come round and assist, she's literally a stones throw away! Regarding the machine, it's a washer/dryer so clothes can be dried instantly or alternatively, the airer is housed to the side of the machine in the cupboard. “We really enjoyed our stay at the flat.”

It was a great location, the view was amazing and the flat was very well equipped. Only negatives were the entry which is down an alley which isn’t that nice and up some quite steep stairs. Also the main bedroom was a bit cramped, a bit too much furniture in there, so hard to move around. Only minor things though and wouldn’t put us off visiting again.

Though not the best start, it's wonderful to know it's worthwhile once you see that view! I agree too, the main bedroom is a little cramped and it's a real challenge to know how best to accommodate guests' needs for storage versus having too much in the small space. “Fantastic holiday location , the view from the window of the harbour and Barmouth railway bridge is like you only find in films.”

The flat is clean and well equipped, parking nearby with the beach just over the road for those early morning and evening walks with the stunning mountains for a back drop. Cafe's ,pubs and eateries all within a stone's throw. The only care point is the access to the flat is via stairs at the rear of the building.

The property

Flat 2 is a stylish duplex residence situated near the seaside in Barmouth, North Wales.

Flat 2 is a fantastic location for a small family's Welsh escape, since it is located over a harbourside restaurant and has views of the sea from its sitting area.

Climb the outdoor staircase to the second storey to find your new home-away-from-home, where you'll be greeted with an open-plan living room with everything you'll need for your getaway.

Take a seat on the couch in the sitting room and let the electric fire warm your toes while you watch a programme on the Smart TV; alternatively, relax in one of the sea-facing recliners and enjoy the views of the waterfront.

When you're hungry, make your way across the room to the kitchen, where you'll find all the appliances you'll need to prepare wonderful meals.

These meals may be enjoyed while discussing the day's events and planning your holiday itinerary at the neighbouring dining table!

As the day draws to a close, retire to one of the two bedrooms on the first floor, both of which are decorated in neutral tones.

Nearby is the beautiful bathroom, which is embellished with glossy tiling throughout and features a bathtub with a rainfall shower above it.

The apartment is in a fantastic location, with many of Barmouth's eateries practically on the doorstep, including the eatery below; the harbour is also near, where you can board a boat to Fairbourne or try your hand at crabbing; and the beach is pretty close, a great place to relax before visiting the local stores!

There are several treks nearby, including the Panorama Walk along with access to Barmouth Bridge, from where you can hike or bike over to the RSPB Mawddach Valley, then on to Fairbourne's excellent shingle beach.

Visit Harlech for additional seaside enjoyment, where you'll find another sandy beach, as well as the famed Harlech Castle and the Royal St. David's golf club.

Porthmadog, Portmeirion, and Dolgellau are also worth visiting and provide additional things to see and do, while Snowdonia's many outdoor havens are also waiting to be seen!

Choose Flat 2 for a fantastic stay along this stretch of the Welsh coast.

Access is via an external staircase, not ideal for those with limited mobility.
