“We loved it at Pen-Y-Bont, even though when we were there it rained constantly.”

The river did rise quite high within the first few days due to the rainfall from the surrounding hills but we just put the flood gate up at the front door and some sandbags and carried on as normal. The owner Richard was super helpful and put our minds at rest, and said that the river would subside as quick as it had risen, and he was right, and luckily there was a man from the local council driving past when we were sweeping the leaves from the rain water drainage outside, and gave us 7 more ...

The river did rise quite high within the first few days due to the rainfall from the surrounding hills but we just put the flood gate up at the front door and some sandbags and carried on as normal. The owner Richard was super helpful and put our minds at rest, and said that the river would subside as quick as it had risen, and he was right, and luckily there was a man from the local council driving past when we were sweeping the leaves from the rain water drainage outside, and gave us 7 more sand bags to put out at the front as the water from the hills opposite was coming down the road quite fast. The beds were really comfy with lovely views of the River Dovey. I don't normally sleep very well when I'm away, but I slept fully every night here. The cottage is in a dip so there's no TV signal, but lots of DVD's to watch. Infact we stayed in for a coupe of days when it was raining, just sitting with the log burner going, while we watched films. There was a comment in the visitors book from the people before us saying that the log burner wouldn't stay a-light.....it did for us, maybe they weren't doing it correctly! The pub up the road, The Brigands Inn, only takes 10 minutes to walk to and they have a lovely menu and are very friendly and they're also dog friendly, which was great. This cottage has such a lovely feel about it, we really loved it there and would definitely recommend it. We'd love to go back in the summer time.
