“We have previously stayed at this property and loved it - i have written a much more detailed review from our last stay, so this review will be short and sweet!”

We are pleased to see the owners have responded to the feedback about the uncomfortableness of the beds - the mattresses now have toppers on which has made them a little more comfortable to sleep in, i would still recommend they need replacing however. Perfect Location, lovely characterful property, warm and cosy. Parking for one vehicle.

“We stayed at Caereinion for a week in early November and overall had a lovely time.”

The house itself is truly beautiful. The driveway is large enough for an SUV and easy to get onto once you get used to the steep hill—personally, I found reversing on much easier. When you enter the property, you step straight into the main living room, which is tastefully furnished and immediately cozy and inviting. The large open fireplace with its impressive log burner is a real centrepiece, and what we believe is an old bread oven built into the side adds even more charm. The exposed wooden beams give the room heaps of character; you really do feel like you’re in a warm, historic cottage. The three sofas offer plenty of extremely comfortable seating for a family. The lounge does get quite dark during the day due to the small window—this is made worse if a car is parked outside, as it blocks most of the natural light. That said, in the evenings the darkness actually adds to the cosy atmosphere, especially with the fire going. There’s also a smart TV for streaming. The Wi-Fi is very basic, topping out at around 16 Mbps down and 0.5 Mbps up, which made video calls tricky. Streaming was generally fine. Given that Harlech has full-fibre available, an upgrade here would be a great improvement. Just off the lounge is a spacious downstairs shower room shared with the downstairs bedroom. There was a slight damp smell, but with the exposed stonework and old fireplace in there, it wasn’t unexpected. A small courtyard leads from the lounge to a set of steps up to the upper-tier garden. This is also where you’ll find the large utility room with the washing machine. Upstairs is a wonderfully large kitchen with a generous family dining table. It’s well equipped with everything you need to cook a proper meal, with a good selection of crockery, utensils, and pans. There’s no air fryer, which is unusual for a rental nowadays, but there is a Nespresso machine and a box of Starbucks pods provided. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and included the coffee pods, Borders biscuits (my favourite!), a bottle of red wine, and milk in the fridge. A door from the kitchen leads to a fully enclosed, well-kept garden—perfect for our two small dogs. There are two seating areas, including one with sun loungers. Sadly, the weather was largely awful during our stay, so we didn’t get to enjoy the garden as much as we’d have liked, but the views were still fantastic. You can see the sea in the distance, look out over lower Harlech, and best of all, enjoy a stunning view of Harlech Castle—especially beautiful when illuminated at night. Upstairs there are three twin bedrooms (no double beds). Two are a good size and one is more of a box room. The two larger rooms have charming exposed stonework, adding to their character. Unfortunately, the beds were the biggest downside of our stay. We found the mattresses extremely uncomfortable—thin, springy, and what we jokingly referred to as “caravan mattresses.” After a poor first night’s sleep we tried all the beds, but they were all the same. This really surprised us, as everything else about the property is so thoughtfully done. In our opinion, upgrading the mattresses is something the owners should urgently prioritise. The upstairs bathroom is spacious and features a lovely deep freestanding bath. Overall, the property was very clean, with just a little mould around the silicone in the shower, which is an easy fix. One thing we really appreciated was how warm the cottage was—the central heating worked brilliantly, and despite very cold weather, we were never chilly. Hot water was plentiful as well. We would love to return to Caereinion. It’s a beautiful, comfortable cottage, that oozes character, in a wondaful location - Harlech is beautiful with a perfect beach on your doorstep, a quaint village with local shops and restaurants all within a few mins walk. Once the mattresses are replaced, it will be close to perfect. We’ll definitely keep an eye on the listing for updates and hope to return soon.

The view from the kitchen was stunning. There was loads to do around Harlech and wish we had more time to explore. The only fault was the dishwasher wasn’t working.

“Absolutely beautiful cottage and location was perfect.”

Fun being on the steepest street in the world - that should be advertised! There was quite a funky smell in the downstairs bedroom that seemed to be coming from the corner. Only concern during the stay. Would definitely stay again if we were visiting snowdonia.

“This cottage had amazing views out the kitchen windows, it had a secure rear garden for our dog, and plenty of space for the family to sit together outside or quiet time to sit and read a book as had different levels, it was very close to Harlech castle, local shops and cafes, some lovely country walks.”

Train close if want to go along the coast to have a rest from driving…and sheep on some roads, Beach beautiful soft sand, but it is a good walk ( can go down the steepest road in England 2019 - not to bad and not to long either) - with its own car space in front of the cottage, unpacking the car is easy, (easier to go slightly passed, and reverse in, handbrake on, into reverse, once you got biting point, handbrake off, reverse into space. Handbrake on, wheels at an angle, engine off, I put into reverse gear while parked, as are on the slope), The sofas in the room were very comfortable, the bedrooms and bathrooms very clean, with downstairs toilet as well as upstairs. Thank you for wine, tea and biscuits on arrival in the cottage. Harlech creamery fudge - amazing! Overall Harlech a lovely place and people are very friendly! (Harlech pottery is open Saturday and Sundays, there was something I liked and wanted to buy, I left for Lincolnshire on a Friday, I rang to see if could order on line, but they came and opened the shop for me, as they needed to pop into Harlech that day, and I got my pot!! Thank you so much Harlech pottery!! Lovely lady!!) This cottage is in a lovely place and is perfect for exploring this area of wales.

If you wanted to improve it a bit more then I’d suggest you look to provide extra hanging space in the downstairs bedroom and the small one and clear out the larder cupboard in the kitchen to allow for food storage as all space was taken up. That’s all tho, we had a lovely time and would consider returning

The views from the cottage garden and kitchen are amazing. There was lots of space so the cottage didn’t feel crowded. The kitchen proves a lovely social space and is reasonably well equipped. Shops, pub, cafes in Harlech are really nice and only a very short walk. Beach is beautiful. We would definitely recommend to others.

“The cottage on the out side and in looked lovely lots of lovely features but unfortunately it lacked on cleanses I was very disappointed that the kitchen was upstairs to.”

On arrival with my mom who not well she managed to do the stair to see the kitchen with me but found one of the kitchen cupboards was hanging off the to make things worse my mom got into bed and as she lay down the bed collapsed one of the legs had fell off the bed so I had to struggle to fit it back on my mom then just wanted to go home so we took her home the next morning so the holiday was ruined our two friends stayed on at the cottage and made the best of it

“My family and I stayed 5 nights over the Xmas period in this lovely house.”

Lovely large kitchen / breakfast room overlooking the sea beyond. Beds extremely comfortable, and all facilities good. The lounge with log burner was great for us all together, very cosy. Everyone very friendly, and a lovely pub and local craft shops. Lovely places to visit, especially Portmeirion, a must to visit.

“Beautiful property in a good location, good welcome pack.”

Kitchen and bathrooms were not as clean as we would have expected! Mattresses, particularly upstairs, were old, lumpy and very uncomfortable! Perhaps a mention on the site that the parking space is only suitable for a small car and the steepness of the road would be helpful

I park a large 4x4 in the space, but it is a little snug. The previous owner used to go against the 1 way to get out I understand. The road certainly is steep towards the bottom of the hill. Caereinion is a charming, four-bedroom cottage resting in the beautiful seaside town of Harlech, Gwynedd.

With close proximity to amenities, a large sandy beach, and golf course, this property is the perfect hideaway for a family holiday.

Set in an elevated position with views of Eryri (Snowdonia), and hosting original features with exposed brickwork and beams, a wood-burning stove and slate flooring.

Located near a great selection of shops, restaurants, and attractions, as well as off-road parking, this property is a fantastic base.

Enter the sitting room, a relaxing space furnished with a smart TV, three sofas, and an inglenook fireplace.

Venture to the first floor to find the kitchen/diner, well-equipped with an electric oven, a gas hob, a microwave, a dishwasher, a fridge/freezer, a coffee maker, and a dining area with seating for eight.

The Royal St. David's Golf Club is ideal for golf enthusiasts, and for a day at the seaside, venture down to the Sand Beaches for a day besides the sea.

The town offers a pub, convenience store, and a selection of independent stores selling local goods, including home-made chocolate and ice cream.

There are also plenty of activities throughout the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park to keep you busy, including hiking, cycling, and golfing.

Visit the town of Porthmadog, home to the Maritime Museum, which tells the story of the town's rich maritime history and close-by is Portmeirion, an Italian-style village built by an eccentric Welshman in the early 1900s.
