Crossing over the road bridge to reach the property, surrounded by two rivers and an abundance of trees, set the perfect tone for our stay. (Parking is easy and secure) The garden is spacious and fully secure for dogs, even the tiny ones which was such a relief. We entered through the back door into a lovely conservatory/morning room, the perfect spot for morning coffee. The lounge is traditional and cosy with a beautiful fire, and the kitchen had everything we needed (no issues storing boiled water). The bedrooms were comfortable and welcoming, and the bathroom was clean and well equipped. Our only small gripe was that the water pressure was a little low — but we managed just fine, and it didn’t take away from our enjoyment of this beautiful old cottage. The surrounding areas have plenty to offer from local walks to a full day out. And don’t worry about no central heating, the Rayburn keeps the kitchen warm and there are plenty of heaters and blankets available throughout the property.

The property

Glandwr Cottage is a lovely, stone-built cottage situated beside the river Artro near Llanbedr, Gwynedd. This traditional welsh cottage has a woodburning stove, conservatory, and enclosed garden – with off-road parking available.

Glandwr Cottage is in a wonderful location with an endless choice of walks in the woods and mountains from it’s doorstep and also only a few minutes’ drive to a number of incredible sandy beaches.

Needless to say dogs are welcome guests at the cottage.

Step into your tranquil home-away-from-home, complete with exposed beams, hardwood floors, and inglenook fireplace.

There is a woodburning stove for cosy evenings in the living room and a conservatory to sit and enjoy the view of the garden.

The kitchen/diner is well equipped and has a dining table for 6, perfect for family meals and board games.

There is an oil fired rayburn and a lovely view onto the cottage garden and the woods beyond it.

The garden is a true cottage garden which explodes into life in the spring and is a magical place for all ages to enjoy.

Nothing is more relaxing than sitting in the garden listening to the sound of the rivers watching red kites fly overhead, but it is also a great base to explore all that the stunning Eryri National Park has to offer both locally and further afield.

For nature lovers and adventurers the cottage is in the Coed Aber Artro woodland at the foot of the Rhinog mountains.

These are ancient and beautiful ecosystems, with an abundance of wildlife.

You can walk through the woods and along the river to the village where you can treat yourself to a meal at The Ty Mawr or The Victoria.

Llandanwg, Harlech, Dyffryn Ardduwy and Barmouth beaches are all within a few miles or you could venture into Harlech to visit the Castle, or the ice cream shop.

There is just so much to explore and when you return to Gandwr you have 2 king sized beds and a large single to choose from to recharge your batteries ready for another day of memory making.

Take that short drive to Barmouth for a seaside stroll along Barmouth Pier and Mawddach Estuary, before admiring nature’s finest colours through Coed Orielton Woods.

For a scenic getaway in Gwynedd, book a stay at Glandwr Cottage.
