“We had another superb Sykes holiday in Stable Cottage with its beautiful situation in mountains we used to roam half a century ago.”

We would have liked a downstairs wc, but the combination of lovely views, excellent weather and the owners Emlyn and Helen’s company made it very enjoyable.

The property

Llanbedr 5 miles.

This semi-detached, converted stable adjoins the main farmhouse and owners own home and is a working farm with 15 hundred acres where guests can walk freely in the Rhinogydd & surrounding mountains.

It is situated at the foot of the Rhinog Mountain Range at the head of the Nantcol Valley in the beautiful Snowdonia National Park.

The Stable Cottage is a perfect rural retreat for anyone who wants to 'get away from it' all, and would suit couples, friends, or a family wishing to spend some quality time together.

Arranged over two floors, the cottage has an endearing, quirky charm, with lots of character and exposed beams.

The open-plan living space on the ground floor is welcoming and homely, and comprises of a well-appointed kitchen area, dining area and a sitting area with comfy sofas, TV and an electric fire.

The two bedrooms' upstairs are individually and tastefully decorated, both enjoying wonderful countryside views and serviced by the family bathroom.

Outside your holiday cottage is an enclosed garden with a picnic table, and has panoramic views down the valley.

Enjoy alfresco dining during the summer months and the absolute freedom away from the clutter of city life in this beautiful valley - a most special and adventurous place for children and adults to explore, with lots of natural wildlife to see, and if you’re lucky enough – wild goats, foxes, badgers and various birds of prey.

There are two private lakes and a mile of river, all a good walk away, where you can enjoy fishing or enjoy panning for gold in the nearby mine.

Outside, sit and relax and enjoy the sunsets over the Cardigan Bay.

Walkers will struggle to find a more suitably-located holiday cottage for indulging their passion, and despite the away-from-it-all location, the village of Llanbedr is only a short drive away and has three pubs and restaurants, a village shop, tea room and even cycle hire.

The surrounding area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, with many renowned walking and mountain biking trails.

The area also boasts good golf courses, medieval castles such as Harlech Castle just eight miles away, the Snowdonia National Park and miles of stunning coastline.

This cottage is a superb rural retreat from which to explore this delightful area all year round.

About the location

LLANBEDR

Harlech 3 miles; Barmouth 8 miles.

The pretty village of Llanbedr quietly nestles in ancient woodland between The Rhinogs, part of the Snowdonia Mountains, and the stunning golden beaches of the North Wales coastline. Situated next to the beautiful River Artro, and boasting a mild climate due to its unusual positioning behind the high dunes of a nature reserve, this charming village has an exciting array of wildlife and birds, handy local shops, bike hire and mountain walks on your doorstep, as well as two excellent pubs. The small town of Harlech is just 3 miles away and boasts the World Heritage Site of Harlech Castle, a majestic 13th century stronghold, the most impressive of all those built in North Wales by Edward I. Popular with golfers due to its famous Royal St. David's course, Harlech also boasts an excellent variety of amenities including some good quality restaurants and the most magnificent six-mile long sandy beach, perfect for wonderful walks and family fun. Nearby Barmouth offers the amazing Panorama Walk along the beautiful Mawddach Estuary, providing breathtaking vistas, which were described by John Ruskin as “the most sublime view in Europe” and also a harbour from which you can catch a ferry to Fairbourne for a ride on the miniature railway, or a boat trip out to sea to try mackerel fishing. With the delights of Snowdonia National Park and beautiful Cardigan Bay to discover, this is a fantastic holiday location at any time of the year.
