“The cottage itself is great - very charming and set in a lovely location and the beds were extremely comfortable, which we really appreciated.”

Unfortunately, there were a number of issues that detracted from the overall experience. The sofas were impractical and very uncomfortable, making it difficult to relax in the living area. The kitchen was also lacking basic essentials such as cooking pans. In addition, the instructions provided, particularly for the heating and the oven- were very unclear and difficult to understand. One of the oven dials came off and the controls felt flimsy and almost unsafe, which made cooking challenging. Due to the unclear heating instructions, the bedrooms were also uncomfortably cold at night. Most importantly, the property required a far more thorough clean on arrival. This was raised and escalated with the owner. Although the cleaning company did get in touch which we appreciate, this was after we had already settled in, which felt inconvenient and disruptive. The owner was largely unapologetic and referred us back to the housekeeper, explaining they were abroad at the time. With improved cleaning standards, clearer instructions, and some updates to furnishings and kitchen equipment, this could be a really excellent place to stay.

The property

Aberdovey 1 mile.

A delightful, detached cottage, a former entrance lodge to a country estate, with wonderful estuary views, on the outskirts of the seaside resort of Aberdovey.

Full of character, with features including beams, slate flooring, the original bread oven, a woodburner, underfloor heating and original ornamental fireplaces in the bedrooms, this lovely Wales cottage has been sympathetically restored, and decorated with great style.

With wonderful views from every room over the estuary and the sandy beach just one mile away, this is a delightful setting.

Aberdovey has shops, tea rooms and pubs.

Great days out can be had in Machynlleth, the Snowdonia National Park, or on the local steam railway.

A perfect Aberdovey cottage to return to, whatever the time of year.

About the location

ABERDOVEY

Tywyn 5 miles; Machynlleth 11 miles.

The picturesque harbour village of Aberdovey is renowned for its mild climate, sandy beaches, sailing and a championship 18-hole links golf course (rated in the UK's top 100). Aberdovey boasts some of the finest beaches in Britain, with four miles of golden sand-dune-backed shoreline running north to Tywyn, home of the world-famous Talyllyn Steam Railway and crab fishing. The beaches are popular with sunbathers, swimmers, surfers and fishermen while the estuary attracts a wide range of watersports enthusiasts.
