“The house looked lovely when you walked in.”

Once settled and putting our stuff away, we noticed cobwebs and flies on window ledge. No wardrobes or anywhere to hang clothes, the only one is in the main bedroom, we stayed for a week and had to leave clothes in the suitcase. Not enough bathroom towels. No cleaning products to wipe anything down or a mop for spillages when staying for a week I like to keep it clean. Cooker hob was dirty Freezer was frozen up and had broken draws. Tele in front room was a nightmare to get on, half the time ...

Tele in front room was a nightmare to get on, half the time we couldn't use it. Cooking essentials very poor for utensils. You can wash your clothes which is very much appreciated but no washing line or airer to put them on, I don't put all my clothes in a dryer. Need locks on bathroom doors. Light coming through the bedroom window is awful at night need better blinds. Need curtain or blind on back door as it's all glass, if someone is in the house next door you can see right in. Tried to contact owner, phone wouldn't connect, sent a text no reply.

“*On entering the house we noticed how airy and fresh the property was.”

Upstairs we were surprised that it was larger than downstairs.* *It was lovely having two bathrooms upstairs, each with its own unique decor.* *The views were nice and had we known the bike path was so close, we would have brought our bikes. As it was, we had plenty of lovely walks to choose from.* *A place of note that we visited was Dylans restaurant and wine bar in Ciccieth. Only 5 minutes drive from the house.* *Another hidden gem we found in Criccieth was Cadwalladers, which we thought was just an ice cream shop, but it turns out they serve fantastic toasties and coffee too.* *We would definitely re visit the North Wales coast and come back to Ty’n Ffridd in particular.*

“We came to Wales for our first trip from Essex.”

The house was lovely with two separate bathrooms, which was a luxury we didn't expect. We needed more towels and Porscha and Sammy brought us fresh new towels within an hour of us contacting them, so a big thank you to them. They also recommended us a good Chinese takeaway in Criccieth, which we tried that evening; it was very good. The freezer was completely blocked with ice which we reported straight away; someone was sent over who advised us that the freezer door had not be properly shut by previous visitors. He cleared the ice for us and went on his way. We really had a great time in North Wales, but maybe next time, Storm Amy could visit after we left!

“We had a lovely Easter break at this wonderful modern cottage.”

Ideal home in the middle of a few towns so was easy to get to different places. The only negative thing I would say is that the boiler in the main bedroom was abit noisy when you are trying to sleep at night but other than that it was perfect!

“I feel like this property has a lot of potential but our stay was disappointing to say the least.”

We booked for 5 adults, when we arrived at the property, it hadn't been cleaned from the previous party that had stayed. The beds were slept in, the bathroom was used, there were dead insects on the carpet, kitchen bin wasn't emptied, used coffee mugs on the table, used towels etc. When we notified the owner, he said he would send the cleaner round in 1 hour and apologised. Something about the previous party having to stay an additional night due to car breaking down but this didn't explain why the property wasn't refreshed for our stay. He offered his second property which he said would cater to 2 adults and 2 children but we said there were 5 adults as per the booking information. We ended up having to leave our stuff, go out for dinner and the cleaner had come whilst we'd been away. Even still, the dead bugs remained on the carpet, woodlice walking around and I would advise, if you need the baby cot, there were a lot of dead flies in there before and after the cleaner had been. The property was rather disappointing but this is due to the way it wasn't cleaned properly and the woodlice problem. The second bathroom only has a bathtub so if you're used to showering, you'll be waiting a while if there are loads of you. The mattresses on all of the beds are of poor quality, you sink straight through. The property is on the main road so if you're okay with noise when you sleep, then this shouldn't be a problem but otherwise it was very loud throughout the night. As mentioned, the property itself has a lot of potential but the cleanliness was very poor. Given check in was at 3 and we arrived at 6:15, we were all disappointed with the lack of preparedness for our arrival.

“We previously stayed at Ty'n Lon last year, but decided to try this new property, owned by John Evans.”

The view was lovely, but would have been spectacular had the weather been better. The house was high spec, with good quality fittings and lovely and warm. We found the TV a little awkward to use, but after a quick phone call, someone popped round and showed us what to do. The location is excellent, sandwiched between Pwllheli and Criccieth. Nest time we come, we will bring our bicycles, as there is a bike path directly outside the property. We had a lovely time and look forward to returning.

The property

Ty'n Ffridd is a wonderful holiday home resting on the outskirts of Chwilog near Criccieth in the pretty northern county of Gwynedd.

Offering guests and their furry friends a warm welcome with a glowing woodburning stove, this property is certainly not to be glanced at.

Behind the doors, you'll discover four main living spaces comprising of the kitchen, dining area, sitting room and a snug.

First up, the kitchen is a great spot for when you don't feel like dining out.

The chef of the group can utilise their skills and prepare some homecooked gems which can then be shared in the dining room.

Later on, unwind in either the sitting room or the snug, whichever takes your fancy.

The sitting room will welcome you with plush sofas where you can all enjoy some TV while the fireplace keeps you nice and toasty!

Alternatively, unwind peacefully in the snug and get lost in your favourite book.

At the end of the day, wash away the worries of the day with an indulgent dip in the excellent freestanding bath before getting tucked in under the fresh linen.

Start with a visit to Castell Cricieth, a historic castle built by Edward 1st view over the Bay toward Harlech Castle.

Along the coastline, you'll find stunning viewpoints like Gimblet Rock and the dog-friendly Traeth Pwllheli, perfect for a scenic stroll with your four-legged companion!

Head inland to uncover hidden gems such as St Cybi's Well, Ynysypandy Slate Mill, and the breathtaking Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways, which winds through fourteen miles of tranquil forests and lush pastures.

There are plenty of restaurants and local pubs in the area should you wish to sample the local grub!

Wrap up your journey by exploring nearby towns and villages, including Oenygroes, Porthmadog, and Caernarfon, all conveniently reachable by car.
