“I didn’t expect to be wowed when we arrived, but I genuinely was.”

The property is beautiful. We booked a few nights away to celebrate a milestone birthday, hoping for somewhere peaceful and calm, away from the hustle and bustle — and that is exactly what this home delivered. It is a wonderfully spacious property, full of charm and character. The dining area was particularly impressive and provided the perfect setting for a family birthday dinner beside the fire. The gardens are generous and secure, giving our golden retriever plenty of safe space to run and play. Benllech itself is a fantastic location. The beach is lovely, and the walk around to Red Wharf Bay was a real highlight. We would also highly recommend the butcher just across the road. My only minor criticism relates to the pillows. The beds and bedding are very comfortable; however, I found the pillows rather thin and flat, which unfortunately left me with some neck pain for a few days after returning home. Overall, this is a fabulous property that exceeded our expectations. We would not hesitate to return.

Thank you for your wonderful comments. We will look at replacing the pillows! Do come again ! Property Owner

The property

Tyddyn Iolyn is a captivating holiday cottage tucked away along a quiet country lane in the picturesque village of Benllech, in Anglesey.

Once the residence of Sir Richard Bulkeley, this lovingly restored 18th-century farmhouse is steeped in history and character, offering sweeping views across Red Wharf Bay to the distant silhouettes of Llanddona and The Great Orme.

This wonderful home is a sanctuary of beauty, surrounded by expansive, mature gardens that invite you to slow down and savour the moment.

Inside, the charm continues with a handcrafted farmhouse kitchen, thoughtfully designed to inspire culinary creativity.

A separate utility room provides space to store sandy shoes and beach gear after a day exploring Anglesey’s stunning coastline.

At the heart of the home lies a magnificent formal dining hall, where a vaulted ‘A-frame’ ceiling and underfloor heating create a warm and elegant setting for shared meals and celebrations.

The adjoining living area, complete with a large dining table and a toasty woodburning stove, offers the perfect place to unwind after a day of adventure.

The accommodation is both generous and inviting, with four beautifully styled bedrooms—two on the ground floor and two upstairs.

The king-size rooms feature en-suite bathrooms for added comfort, while the bunk room adds a playful touch for younger guests or extra flexibility.

A convenient cloakroom completes the thoughtful layout.

Step outside into a garden that feels like a secret world of its own.

A gentle stream winds its way through the grounds, its soft murmur adding to the tranquil atmosphere.

Lush lawns, mature trees, and vibrant flowerbeds create a picture-perfect setting for morning coffees, afternoon picnics, or evening strolls.

A gravelled terrace and sunlit patio are ideal for alfresco dining, while the barbecue area ensures long, leisurely summer nights under the stars.

Just a short walk away, the heart of Benllech awaits.

This charming seaside village is home to a Blue Flag beach, beloved for its golden sands and safe swimming waters.

The village offers a wealth of amenities, including cosy cafés, welcoming pubs, restaurants serving local fare, and convenient shops such as Tesco, Co-op, and Spar.

For those who love the outdoors, the Anglesey Coastal Path offers breathtaking walks with panoramic sea views, while nearby cycling routes wind through some of the island’s most scenic landscapes.

With the A55 just a scenic drive away, Tyddyn Iolyn is perfectly placed for exploring the whole of Anglesey and the majestic Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park beyond.
