“This is a really lovely little cottage.”

Everything was there to provide a home from home. It was lovely to arrive with Christmas decorations in place and a lovely cosy vibe. There are some lovely dog friendly pubs and cafes around and the local people were very friendly. Lovely walks not far from the cottage.

The property

Brondderwen is a handsome stone-built detached cottage, perched in an elevated spot beside a gentle stream on the edge of Blaenau Ffestiniog, North Wales.

Thoughtfully renovated, the interior blends modern comfort with characterful period features, including exposed beams, stonework, and traditional lintel walls—offering a warm and stylish base from which to explore the breathtaking Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.

The most convenient way to enter is via the lower ground floor, where you’ll step into a well-appointed kitchen.

Fitted with sleek, modern appliances and a classic Belfast sink, it’s a great space for rustling up hearty meals after a day in the hills.

A dishwasher is on hand too, so there’s no need to worry about the washing up.

Climb the stairs to the first floor and you’ll find a spacious open-plan living and dining area—ideal for gathering with loved ones.

Sink into the sofas and unwind by the glow of the woodburning stove, sharing stories from the day’s adventures.

Large windows frame far-reaching views of the surrounding mountains, making sunrise a real treat.

Upstairs, the second floor hosts two tastefully furnished bedrooms—a double and a single—alongside a sleek family shower room with high-end fittings, perfect for freshening up after a day outdoors.

Brondderwen makes a brilliant base for discovering the best of North Wales.

Thrill-seekers can head to the nearby Zip World Bounce Below, while walkers and cyclists will find plenty of trails weaving through the surrounding peaks.

The heritage steam railway offers a more leisurely way to take in the scenery, and the coastal town of Porthmadog—with its sandy beaches and traditional shops—is just a short drive away.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £150.
