“Pencraig is a lovely place to stay in but in parts some of the interior looks very tired and needs replacing and or fixing.”

Not sure what we were doing wrong with the tv but every now and then it went blank and read 'no connection check ariel is in correctly. Was ok to put up with but a little inconvenient at times. The recycling is ok but didn't appreciate the message about a £100 fine being passed on to us if we didn't adhere to it. We are adults and know how to recycle, we have done it for years at home...We had a message before went went to say the en-suite shower was not to be used, this was fine because we ...

We are adults and know how to recycle, we have done it for years at home...We had a message before went went to say the en-suite shower was not to be used, this was fine because we tended to have a bath more than a shower plus there was a shower in the main bathroom. We then had a message to say the plumber could turn up on Thursday to fix it, tbh I was not willing to stay put whilst trademen were working, I was on holiday to enjoy the piece and quiet. We have to be out on sat before 10 and guests cannot arrive before 4pm so there is plenty of time to sort this out without disrupting people. Fire alarm sensor went off a couple of times, I just put that down to my wife's cooking (lol) but sat morning it went off again at 4am so maybe it may be a little sensitive to heat, it was hot last week. I won't be totally negative and I don't want to put people off because it in general we had a great time here. The large bed we slept is was the comfiest bed I have ever slept in whilst on any holiday and if you sleep well, the holiday goes well. We were 5 minutes from the beach (walking). Rhos on sea is a fantastic place to holiday in and staying at Pencraig is ideal as it is in the perfect location. Please don't be put off with what I've put down, a little TLC is needed yes, but we had a great time here and for the price we paid it was worth it

“Lovely cottage to stay in just with a few minor teething issues through our stay, when we first arrived we had to do a bit of cleaning of the kitchen area and dining table as it was a bit grubby and didn’t seem to have been cleaned.”

I would expect for the price paid that this would of been sorted prior to our arrival but other then that the whole property is in a lovely area, really comfortable living room and really powerful showers, the en-suite shower did break and leak through the ceiling half way through our stay but the owner was contacted, responded quickly and sent a plumber which is all I would ask for in this unforeseen circumstance. Overall I would definitely recommend staying here and would stay again

“Lovely large accommodation but tired in areas… all toilet seats were not fixed correctly… there had been toilet leaks and the repair was poor.”

There was no stale for the broom! The garden furniture was really uncomfortable and dated. The recycling had not been emptied from previous week so took our rubbish elsewhere. We would suggest some pillow protectors as when removing covers on day of leaving we found they were several pillows stained. The cleaner arrived at 10.02 as we were just finishing packing car …. Otherwise lovely holiday.

“For a group of 7 people, we found Pencraig had everything we needed, and more.”

The rooms were large and comfy, with great beds. The living area was big enough for us all, with space for adults and children to have their own conversations, yet still be together, and the dining room was ample for all of us. The house had more than enough equipment, and the games in the garage were enjoyed by all. I couldn't fault the house, and the walk to the beech was exactly as described. We didn't use the garden, but it was lovely to know the kids to play if they wanted to.

“The house is in a nice quiet area.”

The bedrooms were comfortable and nicely furnished. Also the dining area and living room was spacious and we were able to have friends over. The washer and dryer were very handy for a 2 week stay. The facilities had a lot of potential but could do with some maintenance work. For example the downstairs toilet cistern needs screwing to the wall, the family bathroom shower was often cold, a blind in the living room was broken and the blinds were thick with dust. Also the dishwasher didn’t work very well and dishes/glasses had to be hand washed afterwards. At first glance we thought we would be happy to return there but after 2 weeks living there we have changed our minds unless more care is given to the property.

“What a lovely House .”

Great position in a quiet corner facing a green space with trees, at the side there's an alleyway which takes you to Lidl, a bridge goes over the main road and takes about 4 minutes to walk, you'll find a bus stop either side of the road, we got the 12 bus from Lidl side to Rhyl, opposite side to Llandudno. From the house just walk across the grass or take path to the road and turn right where you will see th sea. Left at the bottom to Rhos on Sea shops and restaurants or right to Colwyn, both a nice 20 mins walk, for those who like Wetherspoon it's in Colwyn. We found the beds comfy but if you like firmer pillows maybe bring your own. I used the family bath/shower room, floor quite creaky but otherwise fine. We couldn't find a broom so maybe one could be put in utility room, we didn't use the hoover as we didn't want to scratch the wood floors. Now for the Bins..... We carefully sorted all the rubbish and put in the relevant bins and placed outside late Thursday night, went out on Friday am and when we came back in afternoon they were still not emptied so I phoned a lovely lady to tell her. Then we looked in the Black bin and some kind person had put a Whole sausage roll in it so that must have been the reason they were left so please re-check your bins Early. Overall I would return to this lovely house again.

“Pencraig was beautifully prepared for our weekend stay to celebrate a family birthday.”

Its a five minute walk to the beach which went down well with my grandsons. However the soil pipe from the two upstairs toilets was broken and had been bodged with gaffer tape. Sewage water rained onto the pathway at the side of the house every time a toilet was flushed and we had to block the pathway for our stay to keep my grandsons away from it. Also the outside furniture was a disgrace three battered wooden chairs one of which was broken for a property that is for eight people is just not good enough considering the rent.

“The only good thing we can say about Pencraig is the location.”

Could be lovely property!! On arrival 1st thing we noticed was the weeds, bags overgrown shrubs & untidy bin area, Inside the whole house desperately needs attention. decorating, very grubby walls, mix match of furniture some of it quite old and needs replacing , kitchen smaller than shows on pictures & not well equipped at all very basic no chopping board, bowl, casserole dish’s or jug & oven trays desperately need replacing mix match of cutlery crockery & glasses. Main bedroom ottoman very stained and 9 year magazines!! pillows stain, mattress in double room needs replacing, Only 2 sets of towels in a property that sleeps 8 (1 hand 1 bath each) no bath mats En-suite bathroom disgraceful leaking behind loo leaking radiator which was just left with a cup under it shower unusable shower tray was just painted to try & cover the cracks & scratches & mould & no cover over the waste hole! Just a hole !! Rear garden not look like been mown or tided this year & furniture broken unusable and dangerous Owners need to spend sometime at property & see how bad things are. General maintenance definitely needs looking at. Definitely Wouldn’t recommend & wont return very disappointing

“Your property is in a great location, it’s a shame the outside furniture was broken, we weren’t able to sit outside as a family and have a meal.”

The grass was over grown and the outside was generally untidy. Inside cups were dirty, there was a hoover to clean the floor but a dust pan and brush would be a great investment. We worried about the using hoover and scratching the floor but the cleaner insisted we did. The rooms were spacious, the master bedroom was comfortable, the bed was a little hard but we slept. The second bedroom with the double bed was not comfortable, springs digging into backs, one of our party had to sleep on the sofa due to the bed being so uncomfortable. The twin room again the bed were so uncomfortable, bed springs digging into backs. Both bathrooms are a little worn and would benefit from a little upgrade, shower doors didn’t shut properly. With the cost of the property we expected a little better, outside furniture for us to have a meal and enjoy the sunshine. Luckily we bought the camping chairs so could at least sit outside for a time and enjoy the sun. And mow the lawn. New mattresses for beds would be an investment and a dust pan and brush. Thanks

“Beautiful spacious property in an ideal location.”

The property was both comfortable and clean. Close for the beach and a pleasant 15 minute walk into the centre of Rhos on Sea along the promenade where the local council has spent money to upgrade the area thereby welcoming guests. Also an ideal centre for the various sights in North Wales. My only detrimental comment about Pencraig relates to the patio furniture in the rear garden which was in poor condition and certainly lacked in the number of chairs available, particularly if our party had been larger.

“The property is in a brilliant place close to the beach.”

It's well equipped good garden for children to play in but could probably do with more garden chairs. The single beds could probably do with new mattresses but it did not spoil are stay and would definitely book the house again. There's plenty of places to visit we did zip world the mountain zoo is a must. Llandudno is a must and visit Maisie's choc shop and factory. We will be back. The Hargreaves family.

We had a wonderful week. Facilities were very good. A casserole dish/ Pyrex dish in the kitchen cupboard would have been useful. Would definitely recommend and hope to come back soon.

“Lovely house , spacious and in a good location .”

We had a couple of issues while staying there . Problem setting tv up in main bedroom couldn't understand why that had to be done , why not just switch on and go . Had to get caretaker to come and set it up for us which we did appreciated . Then water leaking in light in kitchen from main bedroom ensuite shower , which apparently had happened before . Needless to say we did have a good holiday .

“We had a fabulous stay in a great location.”

The house is large, warm, spacious and comfortable with 3 toilets! It is clean and modern with a lovely large living room with comfortable sofas and armchairs. The separate dinning room over looks the garden. The nearness of the town and surrounding towns with fabulous wide and long stretches of sandy beaches was ideal. We will definitely return.

“Lovely property in a great location very close to the beach.”

Well stocked kitchen with everything you need. The only issue we had was the leak from the ensuite shower, which is coming through the ceiling in the kitchen around the light fitting. I noticed this was mentioned in a review in December 2023 and doesn't appear to have been resolved, which could cause a major problem.

Kitchen well stocked with pots, pans, salt, pepper etc. Only issue we had was when the ensuite shower was used it leaked through the kitchen ceiling and needs sorting before any major damage occurs. Property is in a lovely location and within easy reach of sea front, local shops and supermarkets. Would highly recommend this property and would love to revisit at some point.

“Disappointing is the best word to summarise.”

Could be a nice property but there were so many small and not so small items that overall it was not what we expected for the price. Biggest issue was the en-suite shower. Unusable after we discovered water streaming through the ceiling into the kitchen light fittings on day one. Contacted the number given and was told that they had tried to repair it as they couldn't get the correct part - checking in reviews/comments it seems the problem goes back to the summer. As we were there over Christmas there was no hope of getting it fixed whilst there. We specifically chose this property as it had an en-suite shower, having two teenagers meant we preferred to have a separate shower. The house sleeps eight - the saucepans provided would barely feed 3. No serving dishes/serving spoons and really cheap cutlery (but strangely 20 dinner plates!). For a stay over christmas we would have preferred such kitchen basics over three small artificial trees and a bowl of baubles. As a relatively new house it was incredible how squeaky the upstairs floorboard were. I suspect the repeated flooding from the shower may have damaged the floorboards. The main bin outside was locked - a key was not provided but fortunately we were able to remove the lock. The outside food waste bin was full of maggots - someone had tipped food into it without a bag and it had all stuck to the bin. Quite disgusting. Internet was dreadful - again with teenagers this was important. The owner seems to think a 4g wifi box is adequate. It was impossible to watch online TV without severe buffering, and the signal struggled to reach the whole property. When running online broadband speed checks we got between 6 and 9MB. Not good enough in an area that can get 60MB+ and these days inadequate. The drive is getting mucky as the leaves accumulate and start rotting, and really needs some attention. Some cleaning was a little slapdash but overall not too bad. On a positive note the house was warm, although it is the first time I have had a boiler in a cupboard off the master bedroom. Location is also not bad, although some background noise was audible from the A55 and railway line.

There should be a indoor mat to wipe your feet from the the dirt leaves etc so you do not trail all this into the hall and elsewhere. When we were there the shower in master suite leaked through ceiling in kitchen this had been mentioned on a previous week not long before our week but not fixed. Also we did not know that the bins had to be put out down the little road before collection another reason for a book to instruct persons staying. Having said all this the house was very nice and spacious just dont think you need a large table in kitchen ?

“Pencraig is well placed but is down a shared driveway ,it has public grassed areas immediately in front which was not made clear in the listing , this is used by locals for dog walking and access to the promenade ;with two young children with developmental delay this was a concern as we had thought from the photos the whole area not just the rear garden was enclosed.”

The house was clean on arrival and the bed linen and towels were of good quality ,with bright well equipped bedrooms and large bathrooms . The smaller double bedroom mattress was not comfortable however and was described as lumpy ,all others were fine . The decoration and facilities downstairs however felt tired ,the kitchen table has chairs for 4 but is limited for seating more diners because of the fridge / freezer . The glass table in the dining room is attractive but not fully functional as it wobbles and you can imagine the smears and fingerprints after a family meal! Which brings me to cooking a family meal in the kitchen- we bought two large pans whilst here as I was unable to cook a chicken curry with rice for 6 in the pans avaiable. There was no measuring jug but managed to gauge liquids for our meals and for gravy using mugs .The equipment here needs a serious rethink as there were no serving spoons for table use , no dishes that could be used for serving vegetables ,no spatulas or wooden spoons for stirring whilst cooking. As a family house for 8 , most people are going to be cooking most days with a take away and meals out as a treat . The kitchen cleaning materials were welcome and there were plenty of dishwasher tablets . As mentioned in a previous review the tea, coffee and biscuits provided were a lovely thought and appreciated . We did contact the mobile number given and had a quick helpful response to our query about a clothes airer (we didn’t want to use the tumbledryer for clothing wet in the rain) one was brought within hours ,thank you. On the penultimate day the ensuite shower to the main bedroom flooded into the kitchen through the ceiling . It had been slow in emptying from our first shower on arrival but hadn’t appeared blocked and didn’t reach high levels in the tray .We dealt with this promptly by mopping up and placing the washing up bowl on the table . We again contacted the mobile number and got a response within minutes , it was explained that the owners would need to be contacted who would then action this but it probably would be after our departure. As we had a second shower room available this wasn’t a problem but would have appreciated a courtesy call back from the owners. We found the recycling that is required in this part of Wales stressful as we had a large number of nappies to put into general waste and were on week 4 before the monthly collection on the Friday. There are clear instructions and literature for this but would have welcomed at least one more bag for the small general waste bin in the kitchen until we could get more from the shops. In general, we enjoyed our stay but felt that Pencraig had quite a few drawbacks for us as a family of 6 and think that 8 people would find it a struggle at times particularly at meal times.

1:- on the night of arrival we tried to call the property owner on the house number given but we got no answer. No mobile number supplier or answering machine facilities. Also no call back! 2:- No instructions of house to use the heating where provided. 3:- Wi Fi was very poor, only works in the front room and kitchen, no where else!! 4:- Cold tap in en-suite does not work and shower hose leaks a lot of water. 5:- Appreciated the biscuits, tea and coffeee and cleaning facilities etc.

Its a very short walk to the beach and a 10-15 minute walk to the nearby restaurants and shops of Rhos-on-Sea. The house had all of the facilities that we needed. Next time we plan a holiday in North Wales, we'll be looking to see if Pencraig is free.
