“We rented the penthouse suite for 3 nights.”

Our stay started off on the wrong foot and got worse from there. When we arrived promptly for the 3pm check-in, the cleaner was still there. We waited almost an hour to get in. Not ideal after a long drive. Once in, we discovered the place was absolutely filthy. Floors un-vacuumed/un-mopped, bathrooms filthy with hair in the drains etc, hairs on pillows and at least 1 bed that appeared to not have been changed at all - stains, pubic hairs etc. One of the bedrooms was unusable. Our stay started off on the wrong foot and got worse from there. When we arrived promptly for the 3pm check-in, the cleaner was still there. We waited almost an hour to get in. Not ideal after a long drive. Once in, we discovered the place was absolutely filthy. Floors un-vacuumed/un-mopped, bathrooms filthy with hair in the drains etc, hairs on pillows and at least 1 bed that appeared to not have been changed at all - stains, pubic hairs etc. One of the bedrooms was unusable. The couch in the living room even had a filthy tissue with what appeared to be blood on it. The cleaner came back very briefly, and did an equally poor job. It looked like the place had not had a deep clean in weeks. We then asked Sykes and the properly manager to sort it out. Neither Sykes or the properly owner took responsibility - both pushing it onto each other. They said a cleaner was scheduled for the following morning, but then they then ghosted us - leaving us with the place in a filthy condition for the rest of the weekend despite our repeated calls for service. We spent much of our holiday weekend cleaning and washing bedclothes. Shameful response from both Sykes and the property owners. Obviously would not recommend this place. Will be seeking a refund through Sykes and/or credit card.

“We were deeply offended and frustrated by the owners’ continual rejection that there was a problem with the WiFi.”

We were without connection from Friday to Monday when it was finally accepted and acknowledged that there was a problem with the internet provider through the visit by a maintenance person. We were then connected. The television in the living room also proved problematic with no up to date guidance in the providers’ manual. We managed to google the issue although stressful as television was wall mounted and it was difficult to reach the controls at the back to rectify the issue. The quality of towels and bed linen was very poor. Bleach stained towels - photo available. Despite showing a towel to the maintenance person, who took a photo and agreed this was unacceptable, nothing was done about it. The bed on the first floor was very uncomfortable because of the very poor quality of the mattress resulting in the bed base being felt through the mattress. Overall we were left feeling dismayed by the very poor customer service

“The Property is beautiful & close to the beach, The property was very clean & very spacious.”

however i think they should provide us with hand soap in every bathroom as only 1 bathroom had a hand soap, Also we stayed for 3 Nights but loo rolls was only provided for 1 night. Apart from that everything else was spot on. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

“Lovely place, lovely views.”

Clean, spacious and would definitely use again. Small thing but would have loved a dish cloth rather than just a handled brush and that's not a very good tool for cleaning glasses and cutlery. Would have also loved some paper towel or something to wipe down the kitchen surfaces. Small things though, ultimately was a great stay.

“What a stunning place to stay, perfect location and very comfortable, spacious rooms.”

The only thing I would mark it down for is lack of welcome pack, no dishwasher tablets, cleaning products, kitchen roll or starter pack for the log burner which would have made it all the better and for the price we paid I think that’s a reasonable expectation. We would definately return though

“The accommodation is in a good location and we were lucky the ground floor apartment was not being used so we had ample parking.”

The open plan kichen, dining and lounge area is a great space for socialising as a large group. We used the hot tub once but access is via a grass/unavoidable muddy area and is far from ideal. There should be a suitable route made to access the hot tub, with either concrete flags or loose stone. This is a low cost improvement that would reduce the risk of occupants walking back into the property with wet/muddy footwear. The towels provided were small bath towels and not great. Also the kitchen could do with some large serving dishes. However, having referred to some improvements above, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

“On arrival property smelt foisty and damp, almost no welcome pack, no starter fire pack, very few coat hangers, none in double room on first floor.”

Nobody could sleep on that bedrooms mattress because you slumped onto base and offered no support. Walking to hot tub meant walking through mud as was walking back to house. Easily solved by putting a path in? Otherwise great location, good size bedrooms, nice living area and an enjoyable stay and we would rebook just sort out the above and it would make all the feedback excellent.

“Lovely property with a great view (despite the petrol station!”

) and fantastic location, easy walk down a lane opposite the house to the railway, castle and town centre. For the price we felt there were quite a number of basics missing which would have made the stay perfect... not enough toilet rolls, hand soap provided but no toiletries (not even shower gel) in any of the bathrooms, nor any storage to keep your own toiletries etc either by the free standing sinks or in the showers. Bedrooms also lacked storage space. No dishwasher tablets. Also the directions are not accurate. You are told to drive to Henwalia, a tiny road, when the property is on South Road right opposite the petrol station, which isn't mentioned and is the obvious landmark!

“The property is well maintained and smart.”

The flat was clean except the stairs from the door leading to the living area. Bathroom mats might be useful to have. The hot tub wasn't inviting.and also we didn't know where the light switch was. Tenants on the floor below us said that the light was on overnight, but we hadn't even gone into the hot tub area leave alone use it.

“The apartment was lovely and the view from the top window was beautiful .”

Very accurate description on the site. Perfect place to stay. The kitchen could do with some extra mugs and a couple of serving dishes. We had to call maintenance for lounge tv, and the guy was amazing and turned up very quickly. The gate to the hot tub may have been better placed on the fence panel nearest the path to avoid the mud.

Very nice apartment, bedrooms very spacious and the bathrooms are modern. The kitchen and living space is huge and makes a great place to hang out. It had all the necessary things to make food. I would introduce another bin in the kitchen for recycling. There's a cafeteria to make fresh coffee aswell. Thanks for a great apartment

“The house was lovely and in an excellent position to walk into town.”

We had a couple of minor issues which I reported. I look after any holiday home as if it were my own. The issues involved water and I didnt want damage being caused to the owners home. We agreed for maintenance to come and fix the issue. Maintenance came, bought no tools etc and asked to come back the next day. I spoke on three separate occasions to the holiday company and explained I was uncomfortable someone coming into the property if we were out. Out of three full days holiday, these were interrupted by us having to stay in for the work men and phone calls. I felt no one from the holiday company were listening. When I arrived home I emailed the holiday company with my feelings. I received a cold reply stating this paragraph and that paragraph. When I emailed again saying I felt my main points of my email had not been answered.....I have not received a reply! This has no reflection on the owner. The house is beautiful.

“Great property and location, couple of maintenance issues left by previous guests but after a call to Simon in the office a maintenance man was on site fixing them within 20 minutes.”

Only one thing i would do for dogs or young children is put a gate both sides so they can use outside without getting out onto the main road, couple of hundred quid to make safety much better

“This was a stunning place to stay for a few nights to visit snowdonia.”

The rooms were very spacious and the decoration was stunning throughout. It’s very close to local amenities and the town and only a 15 minute drive to snowdonia parking. Some minor negatives, water pressure dropped when everyone was trying to use the showers (to be expected given there are 4 bathrooms…), there was limited toilet paper (one roll per bathroom and no spares), washing up liquid and bin bags so we had to buy our own very minor but overall a very nice place to stay and i would highly recommend

“Beautiful property, loved every minute of it, log burner is a wow factor, especially since it rained lots!”

Would recommend the property! Love it family of 6 all adults and our small dog! Downside: there was a smell of drains for a couple of days this passed and then another smell which was disturbing, not sure where it was coming from. I would suggest a mop etc be at the property so we can mop the floor etc.

“Wow, this property was everything we could of hoped for.”

We stayed at the penthouse for a 50th birthday celebration and had a wonderful time. It was luxurious, clean, beds were huge and the hot tub was just what we needed after a walk up Snowdon, the views from the apartment where lovely. We had everything we could have needed and the log burner was a bonus. The host was fab, great communication and gave us recommendations of places to eat. I would highly recommend this property, thank you for a wonderful stay.

“Location, cleanliness, comfort and facilities are first rate and when we reported a fault with one of the bedroom showers it was fixed the next day.”

For the high standard of the Penthouse we were really surprised it did not have a cafetière especially as past customers had previously left the same comment. This is a minor issue and would not hesitate to book it again.

“Lovely property.”

It was perfect for us (4 couples) Very clean, bright and light. Great open plan kitchen/dining area/living room makes it very social. Property is in great location. Walking distance into Caenarfon (advise pre-booking for any restaurants) and easy access to Llanberis for walking up Snowdon (very busy) as well as the rest of North Wales. We would be very happy to return.

Location is perfect for visits to the castle and highland railway. The kitchen was well equipped but I also agree that it would have been nice to have a coffee machine and some oven dishes would also be a good addition. Would happily stay there again, thanks.

“The place is great.”

The only con as previously mentioned in other reviews is lack of little things that makes the place feel real home and comfi. There are no hangers anywhere in the home for jackets and towels. No place to put your toiletries in the bedrooms or the bathrooms. Other great place.

Other than that and a slow clothes dryer (4 hours?) no real issues. Enjoyed the balconies found the extension balconies especially cool. Might want to add few more pictures or wall art just to break up the austere whiteness Nice stay

These could easily be remedied There was no toilet paper, there was no soap!!! The TVs only worked with BBC channel There was no coat hangers in the wardrobes And the bed sheets were not ironed, so badly creased there was no information at the house regarding WIFI or bin collection

About the location

CAERNARFON

Llanberis 8 miles; Bangor 9 miles.

Caernarfon (county town of Gwynedd) has much historic and cultural importance in North Wales. It is a popular tourist spot with its impressive 13th Century castle, well preserved town walls and delightful water front. During the season there are guided tours of the castle and special events including historic pageants. There is also a station for the Welsh Highland Railway, which passes through dramatic scenery, the village of Beddgelert and onto Porthmadog.
