“I’d be reluctant to book through Sykes as the after service is quite poor.”
Ok if you want to talk to a robot, which is like a revolving door with no exits, stuck in perpetual virtual nightmare.
Talking to a human is an impossibility and on the basis that if I’m spending an amount of money that would give me 2 weeks in a sunny climate rather than 2 nights in Wales, I’m afraid your ‘human touch’, leaves a lot to be desired.
We wanted to change/amend our booking and it took ages to confirm a single change, just a few days before our arrival.

The property was very comfortable, though dated in parts, was not an issue for us. However if you’re charging premium prices, I would expect hand soap in the bathrooms. If you can take the care to spend £’s on a very welcome and nice surprise ‘welcome basket’ full of quality goodies, a few pence on a bar of soup, even tablet size would be expected.
Cleanliness was ok, but again for premium price, we would expect it to be better- eg rug in dining area, can see the colour in the middle, but grey and dirty around edges. Clearly hoovered but really does need a wash.
The floor in kitchen looked dirty, the utility are wasn’t the cleanest. Unfortunately we couldn’t find a mop otherwise we would have mopped the floor. Some stains on bedroom carpets, could be quickly and speedily resolved with a carpet spray.
The back door lock cover was broken.
The welcome manual stated that a spare key was in within, but there was no spare keys. Not a problem for us, but could cause problems for others.
Again to reiterate, normally these would not be an issue, but if you’re charging a four figure sum for a one night stay, one would expect better attention to detail.
The sink in the top floor bedroom en-suite at front of house had a slight leak.
The beds were very comfortable, bed linen very clean and fresh smelling. Pillows very soft and extremely comfortable. Towels soft and fluffy.
Dishwasher/washing up products provided and appreciated.
Very spacious home in a lovely setting with glorious views of the beach and surrounding areas.
Would stay again but not necessarily book trough Sykes because of issues raised earlier.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write your helpful comments all of which we will take on board .
We too would hope that Menai / Sykes will take heed of the points you raise concerning a ‘human touch’.
Frustrating.
We’re glad you enjoy Criccieth during your short stay.
