    “Lovely cottage in an idyllic spot, within 10 to 15 minutes walking distance of the scenic pebbled beach.”

    We've stayed at this cottage on numerous occasion over the past 12 years, which speaks for itself. It's such a little gem and feels like home. The owners, who have always stopped by to check all is okay, are friendly and helpful. The cottage is beautiful, with it's huge inglenook fireplace and fabulous farmhouse kitchen. The comfortable beds make it hard to get up early and out and about to enjoy the fantastic location, being close to fantastic beaches along the Lleyn and amazing mountain ...

The owners, who have always stopped by to check all is okay, are friendly and helpful. The cottage is beautiful, with it's huge inglenook fireplace and fabulous farmhouse kitchen. The comfortable beds make it hard to get up early and out and about to enjoy the fantastic location, being close to fantastic beaches along the Lleyn and amazing mountain walks (some of the best are within 30 minutes drive away). We stayed with our almost teenage granddaughter on this occasion, who loved the second lounge with its CD player and pool table. She spent most evenings in there enjoying her own time after being out and about walking most days. The area is quiet and peaceful, we always feel so well rested here, but close to main routes to make travelling easy. Thank you for another fantastic stay in your beautiful cottage. I'm sure we will be back to make more amazing memories with our family.

The property

I visit many refurbished holiday cottages and barns, and this is one of the nicest I have seen for a long time!

Pen y Bont lies in the most idyllic setting, south of Caernarfon, with pastureland gently giving way to the hills behind.

You can hear the Afon Llyfni singing its way down to the sea, which you can see from the front of the house.

This has everything that you come on holiday for! "If a guest writes 'I have just booked for next year' you know the house is just right.

Of all the refurbished barns I have visited this is one of the nicest I have seen for ages." This pretty holiday cottage has been beautifully refurbished, and enormous care has been taken to retain its character.

The inglenook fireplace has the original bread oven, and there are oak lintels above the windows, little nooks and crannies, and the odd exposed stone here and there to remind you of the history of this former farmhouse. Pen y Bont is close to lovely beaches and coves.

Pontllyfni is the nearest beach, and it is sandy when the tide is out.

The Llyn Peninsula has wonderful walks on the coastal path.

You'll find good food at the Harp in Llandwrog which is close by, and the garage in nearby Clynnog Fawr has a small shop.

Aberdesach 0.9 miles; Caernarfon 7.6 miles; Pwllheli 13 miles.

Set between the coastal town of Caernarfon and the gateway to the Llŷn Peninsula is Pontllyfni. There are a plethora of walking trails locally and the Nantlle Valley is just a short distance away. On sunny days head to Dinas Dinlle Beach where you can marvel at the breath-taking views across the sea to Anglesey or visit Aberdesach a village famed for being primarily Welsh speaking, here you can stroll along its idyllic pebble beach. Caernarfon is also easily accessible and boasts an impressive castle as well as a myriad of restaurants and bars lining its harbour. Explore the delights of other Welsh towns on the Llŷn such as Abersoch or Aberdaron which can be reached in a short drive. Experience the wonders of North Wales with Pontllyfni as your starting point.
