“Unfortunately, our stay at this cottage turned out to be quite stressful.”
The owner, Nick, was unapproachable and, at times, came across as rude and unpredictable. After our departure, we were issued a charge of £25, allegedly for blackened bed linen—even though the linens were dark-colored to begin with, making it impossible to verify their cleanliness beforehand. Later, an additional £85 charge was filed via Sykes, citing other alleged damages, which we firmly deny causing. Many items at the property appear dated, and I would advise future guests to photograph everything upon arrival to avoid being held responsible for pre-existing issues. Communication with the owner was also very uncomfortable, as he was openly hostile toward nearby lodge guests and made inappropriate remarks about making their stay difficult. It’s a shame, as the surrounding area and local community are lovely. However, the atmosphere created by the host made it difficult to relax and enjoy the break.
Very deceitful guests, 12 stayed despite them telling us there were 5 (the maximum allowed).
They came across as very friendly, offering us food etc. but in reality this was all a ruse to win us over as they totally abused our apartment & trust.
The charge was for damaged bedding & an 8hr deep clean as food was walked in all the carpets, up walls & even inside cupboards!!
An absolute disgrace, it’s upsetting there are people who betray your feelings like this.
