“Wow what an amazing, beautiful and different accommodation Applejacks is.”

I specifically booked this for me, my wife and the dogs because it looked very different and quirky and seeing it in the flesh did not disappoint. We stayed for a week in late January early February which we knew would be sketchy weather which does not deter us from having a good time. Upon entering the property which has its own private garden which is ample and secured for the dogs to enjoy without the worry of them escaping. The lovely touches and attention to detail is what makes Applejacks and enjoyable lodge. The fairy lights and butterfly and Ivy decorations make it feel like you are walking into a Woodland fairy hobbit like hideaway. It is basically two large octagon shaped rooms connected by a central walkway. To the left of the walkway and entrance is the large bedroom which is very snug and comfortable with plenty of space with a large comfortable bed. It is also decorated with lovely touches. To the right of the main entrance is the main living area and kitchen which is well designed with everything one needs. I like the fact that it was well thought out with many additional plug points. In the middle directly in front of the main entrance is the bathroom and a toilet. Being a very OCD person I liked the fact that it was decorated and finished to a high standard. There were plenty radiators or heaters to keep the place nice and snuggly warm. Having the outside area for a fire and relax is a great idea and perfect for us. Also having the hot tub and sauna for relaxing and after long walks, it’s an absolute dream. Talacre Beech is about a 10 to 15 minute drive away. Snowdon is about 1 hour away. Port Meirieon is about 75 mins away. Having the very well stocked garage literally next door is also a massive bonus for just about anything you forget or run out of. All in all we absolutely LOVED our little holiday at Applejacks. And would highly recommend it for anyone who doesn’t just want to book a Bog standard lodge and they want something a bit different but that absolutely does not disappoint. The owners are lovely and very helpful and did not mind us messaging them for a little bit of advice or help during our stay. 10 out of 10

About the location

HOLYWELL

Mold 9 miles; Prestatyn 10 miles; Chester 18 miles.

The market town of Holywell in North Wales takes its name from the town’s most famous attraction, the 7th century St Winefride’s Well, one of the Seven Wonders of Wales. Holywell boasts over 60 listed buildings, with a variety of late Georgian and Victorian buildings on offer, along with a pedestrianised shopping centre, pubs, restaurants and an open-air market every Thursday. Just one mile away are the 12th century ruins of Basingwerk Abbey within the grounds of the Greenfield Valley Heritage Park, with its museum. There are many lovely walking routes in the area, including the open common area at Halkyn Mountain, Pennant Way, Offa’s Dyke and The Welsh Coastal Path. Within driving distance is the pretty Market town of Mold, which holds an outdoor market on a Wednesday and Saturday. The historic city of Chester, with its famous Rows, Roman Walls, racecourse, zoo, shops and restaurants is just over the border in England. The beautiful Welsh Coast is easily reached with the little seaside village and beach of Talacre only a short drive away. Prestatyn, Rhyl, and of course Llandudno are also easily accessible, together with the majestic mountains of Snowdonia.
