“Trevor Cottage is lovely and in a fantastic location.”
All the rooms are large. There are 3 double bedrooms on the second floor which are very firm and great support if you have any major problems with your back. These can take a night or 2 to get used to if you normally sleep on a 'soft' mattress. The pillows are very soft and, if you're used to a firmer pillow, can leave you with neck ache in the morning. The windows at the property need to be closed at the top and bottom in order to lock them. The shower room on the ground floor has a very slippery floor when it's wet so be careful when using the shower. The bedroom in the attic is very warm, as expectic for any attic. The bathroom on the second floor is large and has a very deep free standing bath with a shower attachment. The kitchen is lovely and big with a fantastic 5 burner gas hob and 2 electric ovens, a standard one and a long one. Plenty of glassware, cups and plates. A mixture of cutlery and cooking utensils but there are no tongs so bear that in mind if you want to cook any food on the grill. The dish washer is large enough for a full meal load but may not take 8 place settings in one load. There were plenty of dishwasher tablets as well. The kitchen door is split (a lovely feature in traditional cottage style) so you can open the top part for fresh air. The back garden is nice when you are able to eat outside but be warned, make sure the gate is closed before opening the back door fully if you have a dog. Our dog tried to escape the 1st time we opened the back door fully because the garden gate was open when we first arrived at the cottage and we hadn't noticed that the second gate to the street was also open. We managed to call our dog back, very relieved. The front garden is a haven for birds and seagulls and there are 2 long cages for fat balls hanging from a tree in the front garden. The front garden also has a secure gate and a long seat to sit on and watch the birds, but you can also watch them from the sitting room. The only major drawback with the property is that there was no mobile phone signal. My partner and I are on EE and O2 mobile networks and neither of us could get any mobile signal anywhere in the property, emergency calls only so no texts either. Luckily, the WiFi is very good in the house so I used wifi calling for essential texts. Neither of us could get any wifi in the back garden though. The tv in the sitting room is small and on a small shelf in an alcove. The tv can not be watched properly from all the seats in the sitting room. There is an abundance of interesting fictional novels to read and a very extensive choice in board games in the sitting room, plus lots of leaflets on local attractions and places to visit further away. The recycling is very good with large wheelie bins to the side of the property. These are clearly labelled and, while we were there, were all emptied on a Monday, including the wheelie bin for general household waste. There is a book for comments and a lot of the comments mentioned the small tv in the sitting room. These comments suggested a large, smart tv could be attached to the wall (with a wall bracket for tv's) above the fireplace in the sitting room which I think is a fantastic idea (there is currently a large painting above the fireplace) but this has not been done as yet. There is an amazon tv firestick in the hdmi socket in the tv but, if you haven't ever used one of these before (we have) it can be complicated to navigate. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay but, due to the lack of mobile phone signal, I have only given 4 stars.
