“Beautiful home, kitchen well stocked with everything you need for a large group (6 adults, 3 teenagers).”

Hot tub, games, dvds, games tables (tennis, football, air hockey and pool tables) all enjoyed and all in the beautiful Welsh village close to the north coast. Our hosts, Paul and Mel, were so kind and thoughtful and happy to answer any questions, giving loads of info leading up to our holiday. Thanks so much, we enjoyed every minute.

Thank you, we really appreciate your feedback and we’re so pleased that you all had a great stay at The Old School. You were certainly lucky with the weather, a week later and you may have struggled getting there or getting home with all the snow! All the best, take care, best wishes, Paul & Mel Property Owner

The property

The Old School is an impressive five bedroom property built in 1890 as the village school, nestled on the edge of the village of Llansannan, within a short walk of the village pub, shop, post office, large playing field, and bowling green, amidst open countryside, rolling hills, and with delightful scenic views.

The property provides spacious accommodation for ten guests.

A short drive will bring you to the North Wales coastal towns of Abergele and Colwyn Bay, and onto Llandudno and Conwy, whilst in the other direction you will arrive at Llanrwst and Betws-y-Coed, and into the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.

Perfect for a family getaway or a group celebration, this pet-friendly property boasts a hot tub, a games room, a pool table room, multi-level gardens, and flexible sleeping arrangements, offering all the essentials for a relaxing, countryside escape.

Be welcomed by a private courtyard, with enough space for five cars, before taking a few steps leading up to the front door and a step down into the hallway.

The property contains two staircases - the main staircase to four bedrooms and the family bathroom, and the second staircase to a separate suite with king-size bed, en-suite, sitting area and Smart TV.

Be impressed by a spacious open-plan living, kitchen and dining area.

There’s a fully-equipped kitchen with everything you’ll need for your break away, and a large 12-foot-long pine table providing ample space to enjoy your meals.

Alternatively, if the sun is shining, why not dine alfresco in one of the two outside seating areas where you can grill up a feast on the barbecue, before indulging a long soak in the luxurious hot tub; you’ll certainly be spoilt for choice.

As the name suggests, once a school, your new home-from-home pays homage to its origins, with educational books and games dotted around the living spaces, providing plenty of entertainment for the children of your group, whilst for adults, the open-plan living space offers a social hub, for preparing meals, dining, and popping bottles.

For a relaxing nook, head to the sitting room, where you can light the woodburning stove and sink into the plush sofas on offer, whilst a games room and pool table room offers further space to break away and unwind.

Five well-appointed bedrooms are on offer, including a super-king-size with en-suite and triple aspect views, two king-size rooms with en-suites, and two twins, all serviced by a family bathroom and a cloakroom.

The Old School is the ideal base for you to explore the surrounding area and all that North Wales has to offer.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £500.

About the location

LLANSANNAN

Denbigh 8 miles; Abergele 8.5 miles; Conwy 16 miles.

Llansannan is a rural village in the county of Conwy, North Wales. It lies on the bank of the River Aled and is about 8 miles to the south of Abergele and 8 miles to the west of Denbigh. As locations go, you are ideally located for all that this fantastic area of North Wales has to offer. Less than 10 miles to the coastline and under 12 miles to the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. You are within easy reach of Colwyn Bay, with miles of sweeping promenade, a little further is Llandudno a fabulous Victorian seaside town with traditional pier. Gwyrch Castle where ’I’m a Celebrity’ has been filmed is also only a short drive away. And if you are looking for walks to enjoy, you’ll be spoilt for choice; this really is a great base to explore the region from whatever your interests. Colwyn Bay and Rhos on Sea, just along the coast, are popular destinations for their vast sandy beach. The long Promenade follows the coast from Old Colwyn to Penrhyn Bay and gives easy access to the wonderful beaches, pier and harbour at Rhos-on-Sea all joined by a cycle track allowing exercise and fresh air to be taken together or you can stroll along the beautiful recently upgraded promenade with its wide walkway, and enjoy some refreshments at the kiosks situated along the way. There are also separate slipways situated along the promenade for fishing, sailing, and jet skiing.

Both Colwyn Bay and Rhos-on-Sea have shopping areas and are close to the renowned Welsh Mountain Zoo, several golf courses and plenty of places to walk and climb. Snowdonia, the Isle of Anglesey, castles and National Trust properties are all close by.

A family favourite is the beautiful town of Conwy set on the Conwy River Estuary, dominated by the majesty of Conwy Castle. Fine views can be seen over the harbour and Snowdonia forms the backdrop to this medieval walled town. It is no surprise that today Conwy is designated as a World Heritage Site. The massive fifteen-foot thick walls guarded by twenty two towers stretch for three-quarters of a mile around the town, making Conwy one of the finest walled towns of the medieval period. Visitors can still walk the Castle walls, enjoying views around the town and Harbour.
