“The location of the accommodation is very good if you want to visit the Menai Straits, Beaumaris & be close to the A55.”

There is off site parking for free in a lay-by close to the accommodation. There are lots of local bars & restaurants & also convenience shops near by. If you want a bigger shop, there is a Waitrose, walkable in ten minutes. We were disappointed with the accommodation. From walking up to the front door, the threshold was full of garden debris which hadn’t been brushed in months. On entering, we noticed the numerous cracks in the walls of most rooms. If you want a bigger shop, there is a Waitrose, walkable in ten minutes. We were disappointed with the accommodation. From walking up to the front door, the threshold was full of garden debris which hadn’t been brushed in months. On entering, we noticed the numerous cracks in the walls of most rooms. The accommodation looked clean but we could tell that it had received a quick surface clean. The bathroom floor was dirty, full of dust & bits in the corners & around the toilet. The outside area had not been maintained, there were weeds around the decking, all the pots were empty, it had not received any attention. The kitchen is very spacious & bright. The main disadvantage of the accommodation is that there is no privacy. The adjoining accommodation can view you in most rooms, even the outside space. The sofa & bed were comfortable. As mentioned in previous reviews, the accommodation is separated from the adjoining accommodation by an internal door. During our stay, the adjoining accommodation was occupied by a family with two huge dogs. These dogs were shut in the kitchen all night, just on the other side of the internal door. The dogs cried & howled all night. We couldn’t sleep all night because it was so loud & we were upset about the dogs being distressed. We left early & complained to the owner & Sykes & they refunded us for the nights we were disturbed/missed. They were very prompt & efficient & we will definitely book again with Sykes because we have confidence in them. I think that if you are letting your property out you should keep it in a good order.

“The annex is great for two people.”

The kitchen and bathroom are well set out and easy to use. The bed is extremely comfortable and the bedroom is peaceful. The location is fantastic for walking into Menai bridge and accessing all parts of the island. I understand that people have found noise from the main house a problem but it didn't bother me. Maybe some kind of frame to cover the door could provide a second layer to diminish noise?

“The accommodation is ideal for a couple.”

It was clean and well appointed with good quality appliances and equipment. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and well appointed. On a downside because the accommodation forms part of a larger property there was some noise from the adjoining property. The other major problem was the lack of off-road parking as there was a lack of nearby parking.

“On arrival, we looked around the property and quickly realised it was an attractive and beautifully maintained place.”

While exploring, we noticed a locked internal door but didn’t think much of it. However, within an hour, we heard loud voices coming from the other side of the door. It became clear that the internal door was connected to another property occupied by a group of guests. As the evening progressed, the voices grew louder and eventually escalated into a full-blown argument that lasted over an hour. Things finally quieted down around 11 p.m., and we went to bed. The following day was relatively peaceful until around 11 a.m., when the loud voices returned. We went out for the day, hoping for a quieter evening, but unfortunately, when we returned at 5 p.m., the noise was even worse. Music started at 6 p.m. and continued to get louder. By 9 p.m., I was at my wits’ end and my wife was in tears. I went round to ask them to turn it down. One of the guests apologised and said some of them would be leaving the next day. However, once I returned to our property, the music resumed. I went back and knocked loudly on their door, but they refused to answer. Eventually, the music stopped around 11 p.m. I had been messaging Sykes throughout this ordeal and was very dissatisfied with their responses. Although the guests were quieter by Wednesday, the damage had already been done — the holiday was ruined. My wife, who is disabled and suffers from a chronic mental health condition, was extremely traumatised by the experience. We had no choice but to leave a day early on Thursday due to everything that had happened.

“Excellent location and cleanliness was faultless.”

A lovely gesture when we arrived with the Welsh cakes, milk, tea and coffee. We had everything we needed to keep the annex clean and tidy. We did have a few niggles, the adjoining door to the main house was not sound proof, we could hear quite clearly when they were in the room which made our dogs a bit wary. Although the door was locked we were not warned about the door and we did feel a bit vulnerable. The parking wasn't great, there was no on street parking available and the nearest car park was too far for us to walk. We did park in a very small space in front of the annex (we weren't supposed too) and had to leave a note to apologise and our disabled badge on display as we had no other choice. There is a steep slope up to the front door. Those issues aside we had a lovely stay at the Fir Grove Annex. The decked garden was perfect for our dogs, the appliances were fantastic, the bed was out of this world and the location was a brilliant base for exploring Angelsey.

“We loved our stay at the Annex.”

Great location for travelling around Anglesey. The facilities had everything we needed, loved the enclosed terrace which was super secure for our dogs and a lovely little sun trap! We would definitely recommend and hope to visit again!

“Presentation.”

On arriving and taking luggage to the property. Had to fight to get passed overgrown hedge. Stair access to front door had not been swept. The patio require some weeding. The dividingdoor from the annex to main building could do with some sound proofing as you could hear the guest making their meals. The annex was clean and comfortable. Oh. The low been to the patio could do with some padding for tall people I would look at visiting again in the future. The surrounding countryside and beaches were really good

“The directions given are really bad as the property is hidden away and be careful when parking as there are rocks either side of the so called driveway as I damaged my car reversing.”

You don’t get the personal touch either, everything is done through the agent. I first thought I was there as it had the name of the property, but couldn’t get in. Had to wait for housekeeping to arrive only to find I was at the wrong place as it’s round the back of the main property. The good side though, the bed was sooo comfortable.

“Hi, we mostly loved our stay.”

The property was very clean and modern, especially the kitchen. There were some issues tho (we are not making them public, just want to mention them so you have the opportunity to sort it if you wish) It wasn't at all clear where we could park. We read your instructions but we're still unsure. Suggest a sign next to the parking area There was no way to keep the bathroom door closed (no working bolt) also no privacy blind on the window There was a mortice key for the front door but no mortice lock The WiFi was poor. My mobile and ipad would not connect at all (although my partners mobile did) The outside grid for the kitchen sink was blocked and the patio flooded. I cleared it out. Would suggest a small supply of washing up liquid and dish washer tabs, we had to go out and buy some. I know this sounds like a long list of complaints but must stress that we enjoyed our stay and would use the property again. Thank you for the tea cakes they were lovely

MENAI BRIDGE

Llanfairpwllgwyngyll 2 miles; Bangor 2.5 miles; Beaumaris 4.5 miles; Caernarfon 8 miles.

This delightful town sits right on the edge of the Isle of Anglesey and is home to one of two bridges to mainland Wales. It is an ideal base for a holiday and is great for exploring this beautiful island. It has a strong history which can be discovered in the Menai Bridge Heritage Museum, the well known Saint Tysilio lived on Church Island, just off of Anglesey in the 7th century, hence the name of the 15th century St. Tysilio's Church. Menai Bridge itself offers a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants to enjoy. In terms of entertainment, this is an ideal spot with something for everybody, there is the butterfly palace 'Pili Palas' which is incredibly popular with families, as well as the astounding Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens well worth a walk around. The Snowdonia National Park is within driving distance for you outdoor enthusiasts, it has wonderful walking, cycling and opportunities to see some beautiful sights.
