Our party consisted of 1 single adult, 3 couples and 2 toddlers. Four good sized bedrooms was our reason for booking this property. We thought we had use of the full property but the garage was not accessible, 4x golf bags and 2 push chairs it would have been welcome!! We were able to use a small outside store as store for golf clubs, prams had to be kept in cars. The house was well staged with artworks and furniture, the kitchen was well equipped. Parking - we had 4 cars when all families arrived, there is just space for 3 with one blocked in. Property details stated off road parking for 2 vehicles, there isn’t any other parking by the property so we parked near the school as you drive to the property, a short walk. The Garden is lovely and south facing for maximum benefit on a sunny day. It would have been improved if grass was cut, we had a dog and 2 toddlers, not ideal with long grass. Only 5 chairs for garden table would benefit from a larger table sitting 8, I had to prune a vicious rose by the back door (owner was happy with that) too many toddler incidents. The week we stayed was fantastic weather but limited use of garden sadly because of above. Age of kids if you plan a visit 5+ would be my view. The house is not very toddler friendly no guard around fire, had to hide fireside tools, the TV is a magnet for the kids and on a wobbly stand, some items had to be moved for safety. DIY stair gate at top, but no stair gate at the bottom. It’s a lovely old house but has plenty of spiders/ webs especially in bedrooms and windows, hair dust and bugs were inside the draws and wardrobes. One family member felt they needed to clean their bedroom before unpacking, others were ok with it. Some Kitchen utensils were not clean, Oven had mould on grates. Cleaning in general was superficial not deep cleaned it needed a professional clean. Moving things out of children’s reach also highlighted this. Very positive feedback to the owner / agent who were very helpful and offered to open the garage and were quick to respond and sort little things out. The fantastic weather made the holiday for us. I hope the review is helpful to the owners and can help improve what is a lovely spacious property.

Dear Richard, Thanks for your review, we appreciate all constructive feedback and the opportunity to improve our guests' experience. Whilst we don’t advertise that there is access to the garage for bookings at the property, as the owner keeps some of his personal belongings in there, we have since updated our listing to make this clearer. In our reply to your whatsapp message that night, we offered to send someone around with a key to give you access if necessary and are glad that you found access to the store. We have reviewed the garden arrangements. The grass had been cut two weeks before your arrival but had grown rapidly due to the recent warm and wet weather. We have made a note that more frequent maintenance may be required during peak growing periods, whilst still balancing the needs of the local habitat during the important spring season. Your suggestion regarding additional outdoor seating has also been noted and passed on and thank you for pruning the rose sympathetically - it is much-loved by the owner and his family. With regard to family facilities, the stair gate was custom-made by a joiner to fit the slightly irregular gap safely. A fireguard is available at the property and can be positioned as required and had been stored in the dining room as the weather was so hot at the time. We appreciate that families have differing requirements depending on the ages of children in their group and are always happy to answer any questions before arrival to help guests determine whether the property is suitable for their needs. We were particularly concerned to read your comments regarding cleanliness. Had we been made aware during your stay, we would have arranged an immediate inspection and addressed any issues straight away. Nevertheless, the owner has since visited the property, reviewed the concerns raised and strengthened our quality-control procedures to help ensure the high standards our guests expect are consistently maintained. Thank you for your kind comments regarding our responsiveness when issues arose and are pleased that we were able to assist during your stay. We hope you have a great summer.
