“Lovely comfortable accommodation with sea and mountain views plus could see the castle from the carpark.”

Spacious kitchen/dining and living area, the two double rooms had some wardrobe space but the twin room was just a chest of drawers. Could probably do with some lighter duvets, just my preference, but very heavy for me. The location was ideal literally out of the carpark entrance to pubs shops etc and very close to the beach and castle. The archway is quite narrow but, can get a Discovery through it. Overall, really enjoyed our stay, thanks Bryn.

“The accommodation was fine but attention to detail lacking in some areas.”

There are no instructions for recycling and the bins seemed full to overflowing. The folder of instructions had no instructions for tv use instructions for washing machine and there isn't one and no instructions for dishwasher. Towels could do with replacing and t-towel burnt and had holes. The location is perfect and only heard noise from pub on Sat night. Entrance arch narrow and difficult to exit with parked cars on road.

Great location with lovely shops, cafes and restaurants on the doorstep, and just a short walk to the beach. Located behind a pub with a lovely, friendly landlady. Glyn was very helpful before our stay and during. Would love to return.

We even had a bottle of milk in the fridge ready to make a cup of tea on arrival. Bed sheets and towels smelt lovely and clean, and the accommodation had everything we needed. Thank you for an amazing few days! We cant wait to come back!

Beautiful town, we enjoyed walking our dog in the morning. And convenient location to visit Snowdonia by car. There wasn't any noise from the pub nearby (we stayed in April). We especially liked local farm/organic shop which is nearby next to Nisa.

“While the property was clean and basically as advertised, it was not dog friendly; space for night-time and early morning dog toilet purposes was inadequate.”

We found on arrival no basic toiletries, (soap and shampoo), let alone welcoming tea/coffee. And the advertised clothes washer did not exist. When the shower annexed to the larger bedroom locked into an "on" position, my son telephoned the owner, who was more concerned with his own holiday arrangements than those of his paying guests. I think I would also have wanted to know beforehand that the off-road parking is good, but the access to it is via a VERY narrow archway and if you are driving a larger vehicle you WILL have issues getting in and out. Also while the sleeping areas are all on the ground floor the living areas are on the first floor and the stairs are VERY steep which might well cause issues if someone has less than great mobility. We would have put the bin/recycling out had we known what day to do it, (and indeed I did put the recycling out) but the bin was overflowing by the end of our stay and I suspect the next person was going to have a very bad experience with that. (The overflowing bin was drawing the attention of a large rat.)

“Nice cottage, owner very nice and helpful.”

Beds very comfortable slept well. A couple of minor things. Cooker didn’t work very well and the grill pan was dirty, but we mainly ate out, and lots of nice places to eat in and around Cricceth. One leg on the arm chair was very wobbly so not safe to use. Didn’t spoil our holiday we enjoyed our stay.

Even, as detailed in the description of the property, being situated behind the public house, apart from the first night, when there was a celebration taking place, there were no further disturbances. We would recommend this property. The owner of the property was very helpful and friendly and made us feel welcome.

The cottage was very comfortable and spacious, room for my two granddaughters to spread out and play. It had everything we needed. The owner checked to see if everything was OK and if we needed anything. We would certainly consider staying there again.

We had a fabulous week here at the end of September. Yes it is next to a pub, but that is a plus point no? Situated on Criccieth high street, you are surrounded by facilities and it is only a short walk to the beach. Very accurate description and the owner Gwyn is a great host. A fantastic spot for exploring the beauty that is North Wales, the Llyn Peninsula and Anglesey. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

“None of the windows were secure, and we had to repair one handle because it was simply in two pieces.”

Lightbulbs (several) were out, and the property definitely needs some TLC. The safety gate at the top of the stairs had to be repaired before we could use it. However we had the best week of the year for sunshine, the owner was lovely, and we got used to the sound of metal beer barrels being clanked at 1 am! The back windows overlook the pub, so it was noisy, but not a cause for complaint as we were told to expect 'some' noise.

“We had a really lovely time staying at Cefn Bryn Mawr.”

The cottage was as described, with plenty of space for our family of 6 adults. The beds in particular were super comfy. Gwyn the owner lived nearby and was very friendly and checking that we were happy with everything. It is in a great location in the centre of the town, within 5 minutes walk of the beach. The town itself had a couple of nice pubs and several restaurants as well as some delightful independent shops and well stocked convenience stores. There were so many activities to do in the surrounding area that we only just touched the surface. We mainly visited fantastic castles, had beautiful walks among the stunning scenery and visited amazing beaches, but there are plenty of attractions and activities to keep all ages and interests happy in the area. We would highly recommend this cottage.

“Fantastic location in the town but it is a little noisy with the pub.”

Second glazing please.! Bed not very comfortable and duvet really really hot! No idea why such a thick duvet is used... Another observation is the parking on the entrance to the property. Nobody seems to care it's double yellow (including the pub landlord..!) and it's really quite dangerous getting out when cars are parked so selfishly. Lastly since we last came the washing machine has been replaced with a dishwasher. Can't speak for everyone but for us with 2 small children a washing machine is much more use as i suspect it is for most. We've been many times and it's a great place so sad to make these comments as the owner is a really nice guy and i know wants to please guests. BTW I'd still recommend to people as these are minor points

“If you get the wrong music in the pub then for that night the cottage is awful.”

5 hours of banging base that is so loud it shakes the windows and makes the fridge vibrate needs to have warnings. looking at the planned music I think we got the worse one possible. Also the Pub dropping empty beer barrels against the wall your headboard is on at 1am in the morning is unpleasant. The habit that locals ( Welsh number plate ) and delivery drivers have of parking on the double yellow outside the property and restricting or in some cases blocking the archway access also not good. Some of the people doing this appeared to be living or staying in the properties right next to the archway. I am aware this is likely outside the owners control, but it does affect the enjoyment of the property. Beds gave everyone sore backs to the point we looked forward to going home to our own beds and left a day early. If you happen to know the owners of the local chip shop, being open on your advertised open days would be nice, but meant we found chippy dee which was great. Aside from that it was a nice cottage.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the music on the saturday night. During the summer the pub has a band on in the garden one night a week. The music goes off at 11pm, I can sympathise it was an inconvenience if music not to you're taste.(most weeks it's a welsh singer/ band not too loud). We will be installing secondary glazing in November which should help with the noise. The dray wagon can occasionally block entrance when delivering twice a week. I will speak to landlord about avoiding putting beer barrels against wall. We have received no other complaints for beds but will enquire/ investigate. Property Owner

“The house was in a perfect position to enjoy all the amenities of Criccieth and the surrounding areas has to offer.”

The beautiful beach for our dog was only a 10 min walk and there are lots of lovely cafes/restaurants on your doorstep. The house was lovely, very clean but in need of a little TLC but it had everything you needed for your stay. On the Saturday it was very very noisy ( it did state in the advert there could be noise as your are next to the pub) but due to a DJ being on in the beer garden at the back of the house the noise was extreme but did stop at 11pm, other times if the windows were open you could just hear people in the beer garden. The host was a lovely person very friendly and couldn’t do enough to help in any way .

“A really beautiful property in the heart of a cute small town/village.”

Perfect location for our family enabling dog walks on the beach, convenient local bakery, newsagent butcher, take away and pubs to taste local produce and not to far away from some beautiful key beaches and of course Snowdon. We were fortunate to meet the owner who was a lovely man, very friendly and helpful. The property was spotless when we arrived and has everything we needed included some Welsh cakes on arrival. Would definitely stay again. The only thing missing for us was a private outdoor space, there was a small front courtyard and a table and chairs but not somewhere to sit for a morning coffee as was open to passing public, but we knew we had sacrificed this before booking as the property and location sold itself. No complaints at all, we would definitely come back again. Thank you so much :)

“Really enjoyed our stay at this property, it had everthing we needed.”

Two adults and two small dogs. We knew the pub was next door to this location which ment we did not have to walk far for a pint and glass of wine after a hard day relaxing on the beach in Porthmadoc - Black Rock Sands ( a few miles away) we use this beach because you can take your car on with all the equipment for the dogs and chairs for us. The beach in Criccieth is only a 10 min walk from the cottage and I did our morning walk there with the dogs before going to out to the other beach. The local people were great and very welcoming as was the owner of the property. We would definately return here as it was a great place to stay.

“This is the first time I stayed with my family in cefn Bryn mawr and we found the cottage to be just perfect for all our requirements .”

It was clean with all the facilities needed . We have baby twins , the owner went out of his way to get us two travel cots to save us having to bring ours . Nothing is to much trouble . Great location , right in the heart of Cricieth . I have also stayed in the adjoining cottage which is equally on par . Highly recommend .

“Cefn Bryn Mawr, we felt at home the second we arrived!”

Beautiful clean house with lovely furnishings and a great location in the small town of Criccieth. A great base for exploring the lovely north Wales coastline. Criccieth itself is lovely and has a few lovely gift shops, a butchers and a bakers. There is also a wide range of take aways and Dylans restaurant on the beachfront was great! We truly didn't want to leave and will definitely be returning!

“Beautiful accommodation that could benefit from a little extra upkeep/attention.”

....the toaster was broken, there is a few wobbly staircase spindles,just little things like that. It could also benefit with a big deep clean, especially while the virus is still rife, just things like the tops of wardrobes, the tiles in the shower , under the bed etc, just little things. But overall it was such a lovely place to stay and we would come again(dust is my enemy as I'm asthmatic) . Yes there's a pub right at the side of you but that didn't bother any of us at all and we went for a few drinks in there. The owner of the accommodation was a really nice guy and very approachable. Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely barn conversion in a nice small town, was perfect for our quiet break away. If you like a social drink then you’re in luck as the Bryn Hir Arms is literally in your back garden, a proper pub, plenty of conversation from the locals/ holidayers and lovely helpful staff. Word of warning if you like to eat out, book before you arrive as we couldn’t get in any of the local places, plenty of takeaway options though if you don’t want to cook.

My only complaint would be there’s not much storage in the bathrooms. Such as something to put shampoo in the shower. , and towels very small. But this is minor. It’s a lovely place near to everything, pub friendly and Indian restaurant really good. Castle fish and chips first class! Owner very friendly . Highly recommend

“Lovely cottage ideally situated for Criccieth town, beach, and castle and close to popular destinations such as Snowdon, Portmerion, Zip World if you have a car.”

The house was fairly clean though could have done with a deeper clean between guests i.e dust on skirting boards, crumbs and dog hair under sofa cushions. Facilities in the house ok, though some basics lacking e.g. toilet roll holders, mirrors in all bedrooms, hand soap in bathrooms/kitchen, and no dedicated cupboard for storing food in the kitchen. Though not advertised a beneficial feature would have been a dishwasher - the provided washing machine was less useful to us. All in all the host was friendly, the pub next door was no bother to us and the beer garden was always promptly closed and quiet by 11pm. We all really enjoyed our stay in this house and would definitely consider return visit - and Criccieth is really nice seaside town.

We had an amazing 3 nights here. I would highly recommend. The property is beautiful. There is everything you need and it is immaculately clean and really modern. The owner is so friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our mini break. We will definitely return. The added bonus of a pub literally a stones throw from the barn is also perfect with a lovely outside drinking area. Criccieth is beautiful and the surrounding area. The ‘upside down’ layout, wasn’t an issue and made good use of the layout of the cottage and the living area and bedrooms are a decent size. The basic supplies waiting on our arrival were very welcome too. The parking is a bonus, although, not sure ‘big’ cars would get through the arch. It’s great in the middle of the town - good access to the beach, castle and a good base for exploring the surrounding area. It was February, so not all the restaurants are open or are only open part of the week. But the facilities in the cottage, would negate that issue, if you are not adverse to cooking on a holiday or few days away. Good value for money - would recommend

The only suggestions we have is there is limited kitchen equipment compared to other rentals we have stayed in, more pans, crockery, cutlery and utensils etc would make dinning in a better experience and a larger toaster would help but all in all a great place to stay and we will be back thank you

The town has everything you need and everyone is very friendly. Wonderful cafe a few doors down which is dog friendly inside, a fab find on a wet afternoon. The cottage is lovely, comfy beds and clean bathrooms. The kitchen could do with a few more bits of crockery and pans etc. The pub was not a problem noise wise, the only slight issue was the air conditioning unit at the pub. This is right next door to one of the bedroom windows and it kept coming on throughout the night and was quite noisy although I’m sure if the windows were shut you wouldn’t hear it though. All in all a very lovely place which we would definitely rebook.

We would, however, go back to this cottage without hesitation as the layout was excellent and it was very comfortable. The noise from the building work and the pub next door were minor irritants, particularly as we were out for most of every day. We loved the area and intend to return later in the year, hopefully, staying in the same place.

Plenty of facilities and amenities to hand - very helpful local residents. I would highly recommend this cottage and the surrounding area. However one constructive criticism is that the accommodation could do with a coffee table of some sort. As with the large living area there isn’t anywhere to place cups etc. We didn’t have an issue but with it being a dog friendly some owners could have issues with drinks on the floor. Will definitely be returning to North Wales!

“As others have already mentioned, the noise from the live music held outside the pub is obtrusive, even with the windows closed - easily drowned out the TV, no matter how loud we turned it up!”

- However, it was only one night and we quite enjoyed the band! The property is very conveniently sited, parking in the pub carpark (which is where the property is) was also easy and convenient. Some aspects of the cleaning could be improved (top of the fridge?) and we had to go out and purchase washing up liquid and dishcloths. Some owners provide, some obviously don't. All in all though, we very much enjoyed our stay.

Welcome pack very good, cottage was clean and tidy. Everything we needed was there but we were only 2 people, cutlery,pots etc would just about do 6. We really liked the fact that there weren’t lots of notices and instructions around the place - that made it more homely. Pub noise on Saturday we expected so wasn’t a problem and didn’t go on too long. Parking was ample and the sea a short walk.

“I emailed you regarding the possibility of a slightly later departure.”

We hired 2 cottages next door to each other but owned by the same person. This meant there was a possibility of leaving one for the cleaners to start on and one to extend our stay by a couple of hours at the most. I explained it was my sons wedding and we could have been really stuck with no base to use. I received the standard reply - unfortunately the cleaners need to be able ........ etc. I phoned the owner who was amazing and said it was no problem as we had hired both. This is something you could have done. “This is the 11th cottage we have rented in GB over the years and our least favorite.”

The kitchen is poorly equipped simply because for a 6 person cottage they only have 5 place settings. I did text the manager who failed to respond to my concerns.. .The rest of the kitchenware is minimal at best as were the other supplies for cleaning etc. .. The cleaning also leaves a lot to be desired. Some areas such as under the beds, as one of our party described it as disgusting. Based on our previous experiences this cottage was not equipped to the standard of the others and was a big disappointment.

We came here for a holiday to go on the beach it was really nice the beds were nice and comfortable it was warm (but the upstairs window latch was snapped of by someone which meant the heating was constantly on to get rid of the draft coming in) there was noise coming from the pub but that didn't bother us the location was amazing the sound of the trains coming past early morning and late night there were tons of things to do like go to aber falls and stand under the waterfall it was great We definitely will come again Thanks, The Dimelow Family

“We loved the house.”

Only a couple of things were a worry. Some of the windows upstairs didn’t have catches - and could easily be opened by our 4 year old. A fall hazard. Plus one downstairs not secure either so anyone could get in fairly easily to break in while out. But we did see Gwyn as we left and we let him know all this. The front door could do with a blind on it to preserve modesty coming out of the bathroom. Loo brush needed in ensuite. Apart from that it was clean, lovely and warm and cosy. We loved it. Especially our little one who loved his chair as he called it. The swing seat. It was a fab base for exploring locally and doing lots of castles. Excellently placed for touring if you are not bothered about a big garden - and because there’s so many lovely places nearby like the beach it was perfect for us. The train track didn’t bother us and neither did the pub. The decor is lovely and fresh looking. Great place.

“A beautifully presented cottage in a lovely Welsh town that was perfect for exploring the area without having to travel very far.”

Only a few minutes walk to the lovely beach and good cycle routes. The cottage was one of the nicest we have ever stayed in and we even received a lovely welcome pack. Sadly this was spoiled. The cottage is situated behind what seems to be a quiet pub. Unfortunately the comment on the website of 'associated noise' from the pub was a little underestimated. Despite having had a lovely week, it was spoiled by the very loud music from a party in the outdoor area of the pub on the last night. This may have been a 'one-off', who knows, but it was so loud that we couldn't even hear the television. What a shame. It would definitely stop us going back and needs to be seriously considered by other users before booking.
