“Old Ty'n Y Wern is a gem.”

The peace and quiet is deafening. I have never stayed somewhere so quiet. It was bliss. The garden is beautiful. Wild yet well kept at the same time. Our dog loved it. The cottage has everything you need for your stay. We found the bed a bit hard, but that's personal preference, and the feather duvet is incredibly thick for summer nights. The shower is really decent for a holiday cottage and the rock in the shower floor is very special. They supplied dishwasher tablets, washing tablets, washing ...

The peace and quiet is deafening. I have never stayed somewhere so quiet. It was bliss. The garden is beautiful. Wild yet well kept at the same time. Our dog loved it. The cottage has everything you need for your stay. We found the bed a bit hard, but that's personal preference, and the feather duvet is incredibly thick for summer nights. The shower is really decent for a holiday cottage and the rock in the shower floor is very special. They supplied dishwasher tablets, washing tablets, washing up liquid, and hand soap - which is always very appreciated. There's a full sized freezer which is a real bonus. I can honestly say it was one of the best holiday cottages for peace, quiet and relaxing we've ever stayed in. We would definitely recommend.

“We loved this quaint cottage, it was very comfortable peaceful and relaxing.”

Never needed the T.V! It had everything inside that you could want. Outside it would have been better with a picnic table or some trays to have our meals on. The oak tree was my tv I'd sit on an evening just watching the birds.

“Absolutely loved old Ty'n y Wern, cosy, spotlessly clean,very well equipped and comfortable it's set in beautiful surroundings that are so peaceful,only the sounds of sheep and birds,the garden is well kept with areas left for nature to go about it's business and gorgeous big oak tree for the birds to sit it,the cottage itself is like something from a fairytale and we loved it,it's in a good position to give easy access to anywhere you want to go in north Wales, Suzanne has done a wonderful job with this cottage and it is a credit to her efforts,if you're a bit on the weak side the front gate may be a struggle but we had no problem with it also if you're a of limited mobility the stairs to the bedroom could be a problem so check out the pictures first and don't moan about them afterwards,if you are thinking of booking old Ty'n y Wern don't hesitate just book it you won't be disappointed,can't comment on the shepherds hut as we never used it but if the cottage is anything to go by I'm sure it's lovely,old Ty'n y Wern is definitely on our returns list,we can't honestly praise it enough,thank you Suzanne for a lovely week we were so sad to leave but look forward to returning at some point.”

“What a lovely cosy little cottage full of old features and tastefully converted.”

A well equipped kitchen, cosy bedroom, beautiful stairs and such a lovely dining space....and of course the shower rock who I will miss dearly. A beautiful enclosed garden which was a real bonus for our dog. We absolutely loved sitting outside with a cup of coffee in the morning and wine in the evening listening to the lambs and birdsong. And such a lovely area for walking too. Bala was a bustling little town, friendly locals and plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

“Lovely cottage, would book again, log burner was a game changer for extra warmth in the evening.”

The path to the front door could possibly do with a couple of bags of stone where there are pockets of mud especially when it is raining, but overall a lovely stay thank you

“A wonderful 400 yr old building with so much character and quirkiness.”

Felt like home - a happy comfortable place filled with so much history. Couldn't have found a more lovely place. Well set up with everything we needed. It was a wonderful Xmas retreat. Wood burner, glass of ginger wine, and our two dogs hogging the warmest spot in front of the fire. Perfect.

“We had a fantastic stay, the only point to raise is the lack of outdoor seating.”

We drove to Bala and bought 2 camping chairs to enjoy all areas of the beautiful garden. Hoping to come back in September.

“The cottage was lovely, the bed was extremely comfortable.”

The garden was very interesting with the outcrops of rock. The cottage was well equipped and spacious. If you are taller than 5 foot one then you need to watch your head on one beam and the entrance door. It is a very quiet area just the sound of sheep around

“The cottage is beautiful , full of history with lovely beamed vaulted ceilings , brand new log burners and thick old stone walls.”

The garden is huge and very natural but the grassed areas are neatly mown making it easy for dog owners. The scenery amazing as you would expect from such a lovely area. The beaches are only 40mins away at Barmouth and the very quiet undiscovered Fairbourne. Inside the cottage the feather cushions and quality curtains and rugs give a luxury feel. The bed is very comfortable with wonderful Sanderson bedding . The owner Suzanne is lovely and not intrusive at all but there if you need her. Milk ,tea and coffee also Welsh shortbread was provided on arrival. This is a wonderful historic cottage with everything that you need. If you want a modern sleek kitchen this is not for you but if you want a spotlessly clean character filled romantic holiday cottage this is it!.

The bustling market town of Bala lies within the beautiful Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park and is located at the head of Llyn Tegid, Bala’s famous lake, which is the largest natural lake in Wales and home to a unique fish called the Gwyniad, a relic of the Ice Age. Renowned as a centre for great watersports including fishing, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and whitewater rafting, Bala is also the headquarters of the narrow gauge Bala Lake Railway.
