“Our second stay, some of the things I left a note for the owner that needed attention eg the gate that keeps opening with any wind to the side of the house where the oil tank is, was not fixed, the banging and the fact our dogs could access the area was annoying so had to put chairs across it to stop this.”

The shed door would not close, so that banged too in the wind, another chair to secure it was needed. The lawn to the side was gone, just weeds, the front door is still full of old leaves, attention to detail this would be 5 stars, oh and the freezer in the shed needs defrosting the drawers are iced shut. Slight problem with the oven, somebody had turned it off at the wall, turned back on but could not get the oven to work due to the clock flashing and no instructions how to reset this. 6 ...

Slight problem with the oven, somebody had turned it off at the wall, turned back on but could not get the oven to work due to the clock flashing and no instructions how to reset this. 6 buttons, took some time to just keep pressing them, then in tandem before we finally got it working - the instructions do not include this, needs addressing. Due to something out of the owners control eg the house behind even in summer using their log burner, which smells awful, stopped us sitting out several times, not a problem for most people but due to my husband having a respiratory condition and this impacted us both visits, we will be trying the owners other property which is much further away from the acrid smell. Just information for others who may have breathing conditions, can't blame the property itself. Will book Branwen next year to try.

About the location

TALACRE

Prestatyn 4.5 miles; Holywell 8.6 miles.

The idyllic village of Talacre rests on the north coast of Wales in Flintshire. The village is known for its famous beach, sitting just across the River Dee from the Wirral from the English/Welsh border. Boasting miles of golden sand backed by dunes, this dog-friendly beach offers a plenty of space for holidaymakers – you might even get the beach all to yourself! Talacre’s most obvious feature is the Point of Ayr Lighthouse which dates back to 1776. Within the village there are two pubs, the popular Point Bar & Restaurant and the Lighthouse Inn, along with a post office that sells the essentials. The area around the beach, Gronant Dunes and Talacre Warren is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) with an RSPB reserve, home to rare species including the natterjack toad, whilst the nearby Dee Estuary is a haven for wintering birds.
