“The Lodge was not fully clean when we arrived.”

The carpets had not been vacuumed at all. The sink in the kitchen was filthy and full of muck and tea stains. The lights in the lounge area were covered in cobwebs and spiders. There were cobwebs and mini spiders in the kitchen area which you kept walking into when you went into the kitchen. We had to buy a new frying pan as the one they supplied was not fit for use..... There were several bulbs in the light fittings in the lounge area that didn't work. Spares in the cupboard so don't know why ...

Spares in the cupboard so don't know why they were not replaced. Black Mould on the shower head and on the ceiling in the en-suite bathroom and on the seal of the shower screen. The sheet skirt around the double bed had dog wee in several places so clearly had not been cleaned before our arrival. (Ended up washing this ourselves and the stains came out!) The Mattress in the master bedroom was clearly new as the box had been dumped outside but was a really uncomfortable mattress.... You could feel every spring gave us both bad backs! We ended up sleeping in the single beds but they were not much better. The Fan in the bedroom doesn't work. Good points..... The heating works a treat made the place lovely and warm! Washing machine and dishwasher added bonus! Lovely fluffy towels in the bathrooms! Hot tub was lovely and relaxing and kept its heat! (No Chlorine to top up after use, was there a week and it was needed). Location lovely and peaceful and very secure.

Dear [Guest], Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m pleased you enjoyed aspects like the heating, hot tub, and peaceful location, and I appreciate your positive remarks. However, I must address some of the concerns you raised, as they don’t align with our usual standards or recent inspections. 1. Cleanliness: • I’m surprised by your comments about the carpets, sink, and cobwebs, as the property is thoroughly cleaned before every stay. I’ll speak with our cleaning team to ensure no steps were missed. • The alleged dog urine stains are particularly concerning, as this would have been flagged. 2. Maintenance Issues: • Spare lightbulbs are provided, but I apologize if replacements weren’t made prior to your stay. • I was unaware of any issues with the bedroom fan and will arrange for repairs. 3. Mould and Hygiene: • I will investigate the black mould you mentioned, though this hasn’t been an issue in the past. Moisture buildup in bathrooms can occur quickly. 4. Comfort: • The mattress is new, but I understand comfort is subjective. I’ll consider adding a topper for future guests. 5. Hot Tub Maintenance: • While we provide hot tub instructions for longer stays, I’ll ensure additional chlorine supplies are available going forward. I’m glad you enjoyed the location, amenities, and fluffy towels, and I hope these enhanced your stay. While I don’t agree with all the points raised, I’ll take your feedback on board to maintain our standards. Thank you again for staying, and I hope to welcome you back for an improved experience. Best regards, Property Owner
