The lovely Llangoed lies on the southeast tip of Anglesey, located just inland from Penmon and Beaumaris.
Llangoed means ‘Church in the Wood’ and you’ll find a 17th century church just to the north of the village, dedicated to the 5th century Welsh chief turned monk, Cawrdaf.
Explore a little further and you’ll find an ancient hut circle as well the ruins of a ‘secret’ Norman castle which was last used as a fortress during the English Civil War.
The whole area is a haven for wildlife and it’s a Site of Nature Conservation Interest (SNCI). The gorse, heather, grasslands, and woods make for beautiful walking.
