There was an overwhelming smell of mould / fusty, like it had been locked up for too long.
The soft furnishings (sofa’s, carpets) are all dirty and smell awful, the towels also had that ‘dirty’ smell to them.
The kitchen cupboards are a disgrace, every one has a layer of grease on the doors and handles.
The main bathroom was okay, the location is good but there’s a long way to go to get this property to the standard I expect.
Sorry, but not acceptable to us, and would not recommend this place or Sykes as I thought they would check properties before adding to their website.

Your comments about the poor cleanliness of the property have come as a shock because they are incongruent with previous positive feedback we have received. Thus, I’m struggling to understand why you did not get in touch with Sykes to let them know about your views on the property. If you had brought this to our attention at the time we could have asked the housekeeper to come back, inspect the property and where necessary improve the situation for you. Prior to your stay the house was cleaned by a professional cleaning company. The bedding and towels are professionally cleaned off site. In addition, the morning before you arrived a family member came in to complete a thorough check and do some extra jobs. I have spoken with both of these parties and they did not see these issues. However, we have taken on board your feedback and we will review the situation.
