“Eight of us visited Tan Twr in mid April and were more than happy with our stay.”

The property was lovely, well maintained and had everything needed for the duration of our stay. Kath the owner messaged prior to arrival and was very helpful regarding check in etc. We were made very welcome with a small hamper of local produce on arrival and the all the rooms were very nicely decorated and spacious. Our trip was primarily to visit zip world with the kids but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the house was ideally situated for exploring Anglesey and north wales ...

The property

An impressive, stone-built property enjoying a countryside position within the village of Llanfairpwll.

Tan Twr is an outstanding holiday accommodation, enjoying two floors of opulence with everything a group of family and friends could need as they tour this wonderful part of North Wales.

Step into the light-filed entrance before climbing the oak staircase to discover the social hub of the home, the open-plan living room, where you can gather with your loved ones to create some wonderful memories.

A striking exposed stone wall creates a characterful contrast against the sleek and contemporary kitchen units, inviting you in to cook up a delicious meal.

Chefs of the group can look forward to making the most of the double oven, gas hobs, microwave, and fridge/freezer, accompanied by a central island unit offering plenty of preparation space and two chairs to rest whilst dinner simmers on the hob.

Once dinner is ready, regroup with your family at the formal dining table and toast to a special occasion or simply to a great holiday in North Wales.

After dinner, settle upon the plush sofas within the sitting area and flick on the TV to enjoy a family film night before heading to bed.

Ensuring a flexible sleeping arrangement, this property comes with four attractive bedrooms situated across both floors.

On the ground floor, you will find two king-size bedrooms with en-suites, ideal for two couples, whilst upstairs there is an additional king-size bedroom and a twin bedroom, perfect for families with children.

To the exterior, find a plenty of off-road parking spaces and a spacious lawn area, perfect for soaking up the sun during the warmer months and allowing your canine companion to roam.

If you do not fancy cooking for the evening, head out to the village centre where you will find a choice of two pubs, as well as a café and a takeaway.

The village itself is famous for the longest place name in Europe, so be sure to take a photo of the nameplate at the railway station whilst you are staying here.

Enrich your knowledge of the local area further by visiting the National Trust property of Plas Newydd House and Gardens, which is set in parkland and surrounded woodland, offering a leisurely stroll.

During the summer months, take a scenic drive to Newborough Beach and laze on the glorious sands whilst admiring the views of Snowdonia National Park before walking to Llanddwyn Island, home to St. Dwynwen, the Welsh patron saint of lovers.

If you are feeling adventurous, travel to Holyhead and hop on board a ferry, taking you to Dublin for the day, exploring the miles of walking routes upon the Snowdonia National Park.

Tan Twr will see you returning year after year.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £500.

About the location

LLANFAIRPWLL

Menai Bridge 2 miles, Beaumaris 6 miles

Affectionately known by the locals as Llanfair PG, the Anglesey village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrnd robwllllantysiliogogogoch, also known by its shortened name of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll has the longest place name in Europe. It was artificially named back in 1860 as a publicity stunt for the railway station and translates from Welsh as "St Mary's church in the hollow of the white hazel near to the fierce whirlpool and the church of St Tysilio of the red cave". Situated close to the Menai Straits, just off the Britannia Bridge, Llanfair PG has much to offer families. After having your photo taken next to the village nameplate at the railway station, head into the popular visitors centre for local tourist information. A short walk past the octagonal Toll House, towards Menai Bridge, will bring you to the Marquis of Anglesey statue and column which, for a small fee, you can climb the 115 steps to the top for superb views of the countryside and coastline. Nelson’s Monument can be easily reached on the banks of the Menai Straits, passing St Mary’s Church on the way. With several good pubs with restaurants, craft and gift shops and cafes, plus the beautiful Anglesey coastline within walking distance, there is plenty to entertain you all year round.
