Frondeg

We had a brilliant few days at Frondeg (15 - 19th August).

First time in Wales! Our children were hiking in Snowdonia National Park so we wanted to be nearby. This was absolutely perfect! Our hosts were so lovely. Einir and Hefin came to greet us and we had a nice chat about the history of the cottage, things to do in the area and essential info (heating, water, etc). A fabulous welcome basket was waiting for us, as well as milk and wine in the fridge. The kettle was even boiled for a cuppa after our long drive! The cottage was 5 stars - best we’ve been to. Well equipped with everything you need. The views from the kitchen table (and from bedrooms and conservatory) were breathtaking. The large paddock was perfect for our little dog - she loved running and chasing her ball in the fully enclosed space. The horse and sheep that come to visit the bungalow were a bonus!!! We bought bags of carrots to feed them. Amazing! We had some great days out too. There are so many places to visit without travelling too far. We would absolutely love to return to Frodeg and hope to go back next year. Thank you again to our amazing hosts. X

The property was perfectly located for activities on Anglesey and the rest of North Wales, and the view was stunning - we even had front row seats of a thunderstorm one evening. The owners were welcoming and helpful, and the property truly felt like our home. Having a paddock in front of the garden for my children to play in was one of their highlights. Having a washing line in the garden was one of mine! Wales has left a lasting impression and all of us have had holiday blues since returning home.

This is a brilliant house to explore North Wales from: the Llanberis pass, Anglesey, and the Llŷn Peninsula are all just a short drive away.

There are stunning walks from the house itself too. The view from the front of the property is breathtaking, especially at sunset on a clear day. It's also properly dog-friendly. The big paddock is great for a morning runaround and the house itself is well-laid out without any extra clutter that might tempt a dog to get into trouble. Frondeg is brilliantly laid out for humans too! It's spacious and clean and the kitchen is well equipped. Last, but not least, Einir and Hefin are brilliant hosts who make you feel truly welcome and able to contact them if you need to. We hope to visit again!

Frondeg is a quality house that was a special part of our holiday.

Clean, comfortable and well cared for. The views are lovely with some awesome sunsets over Anglesey. It's obvious that the owners take pride in the property and care about the guests. A good welcome pack, milk and wine too. The beds have excellent mattresses, we all slept well. The gardens front and rear are well tended and the large paddock was great for our dog. We didn't want to leave Frondeg and we will definitely return.

This place is simply perfect.

From the amazing welcome pack to the genuine loveliness of the owners and the beauty of the view. It surpassed all of the descriptions. Our dog ,Jinn, genuinely didn't want to leave. The front paddock is dog heaven. Completely enclosed and beautiful maintained. It's perfect for even big dogs. The house itself is 'a home'. It really didn't feel like a holiday let. Everything you need is there. Lots of storage. Comfy furniture, very comfortable beds, washer, dryer, dishwasher, pans, cutlery and even dog bowls and toys What more do I need to say? Only issue.. it's almost booked up, right into October. And I am honestly not surprised. We'll be booking again for next year without a doubt

Lovely cottage in a village setting.

Very comfortable and spotless. Owners left a large welcome pack, Inc a bottle of prosecco and treats for our dog. Very kind and considerate. Also, came to show us how to light the open fire, which we lit on Christmas Day as a treat. Spacious. Fantastic views over open countryside one way, with horses in adjoining field, and far off views to the sea and Anglesey the other. We where lucky as we had sunny, cold weather all week. Lovely and peaceful as well, and if you're a stargazer, you're in for a treat. Only one minor fault if we're being extremely picky. As we went over Christmas, we brought food. No upper kitchen cupboards to put it in, except a cupboard with the fuse box. Really needs 1 upper cupboard, maybe over the kettle to store things. Our stay was restful, peaceful and very enjoyable. Highly recommend this cottage for a peaceful holiday. And on a final note, a big thank you to the lovely owners.

Well what a week we had at FRONDEG!

...The cottage was beautiful with fantastic panoramic views, the facilities were second to none, everything was catered for, good clean comfortable beds with fabulous views from the bedrooms, horses in the field right outside with an abundance of birds...our hosts Einia and Heifin were kindness itself and a lovely welcome pack on arrival including a bottle of wine for our evening meal....we would recommend this cottage 100% and will definately be returning in 2026.....

Quite frankly the best hosts you could wish for. The accommodation has everything you need and is very clean. Location is perfect for Castle (four unisco world heritage sites) and Coastal visits all within easy reach most in 30 minutes. It's also great for The Snowdonia summits. Brilliant in every respect

Fabulous views and near to many interesting and beautiful places.Anglesey about 10 to 15 minutes in the car.Bus service opposite cottage.Lovely walks behind the cottage.Need transport for shops and restaurants but once again none were to far away. Can't fault Frondeg!!The owners were very helpful, everything we needed.Well secured,so dog was safe. Great grounds for dog and us.Lovely hamper prepared for us. We would definitely return and highly recommend Frondeg.

Incredible warm kind and welcoming hosts. Frondeg is the perfect cottage for us perfect size and amenities in a fantastic position for Visiting North West Wales. It also has great views from the bedroom lounge and dining area. Maximum marks.....our best experience out of so many outstanding Sykes stays.

An amazing cottage in a perfect location!

Everything you could ask for and more. This is the first time we've stayed but we already know we'll be back. The owners were wonderful and the welcome basket was delightful!

We were welcomed back like family, and went out of their way to make us comfortable. Fantastic.

This is the fourth time we've stayed at Frondeg and we've always been so comfortable and happy there.

Einir and Hefin are very welcoming and leave a wonderful basket of goodies for their guests. The bungalow is really clean and well-provided and the views at any time of year are no less than spectacular! The village of Rhiwlas is peaceful and tucked away and yet in a very convenient location for reaching many of the beautiful places in North Wales. We cannot recommend this property highly enough.

Super cottage.

Lovely welcome basket. We loved the conservatory and our dog loved the paddock! The paddock was a lovely addition to the cottage. The neighbours, Bob, William and the white horse were great, they even tolerated Millie saying hello! So many things to do in the area. Everything was a short drive from the cottage. Only down side was the mattress which was very soft.

Fabulous accommodation, great for people with a dog, walking perfect, nearby attractions fantastic.

Such a lovely place to stay, the owners greeted us on arrival, explained heating etc if we had any problems to contact them - there were none!

We enjoyed the welcome basket was much appreciated. So much to do and see in the local area a beautiful part of the world. Would love to come back and stay here home from home, hopefully soon!

This has been the very best holiday let in which we have stayed in every aspect, compounded by the unbelievable 180 degree view.

The location is perfect for many varied attractions. Hefin and Einir were so welcoming and helpful. I cannot recommend this property highly enough.

There was pretty much everything we needed, including a garden and paddock for our Labrador to run in. It was great to know that we could charge the electric car on arrival making our first long trip much more relaxing. Rhiwlas is a great village with access to some lovely hill walks, close to Llanberis and Lake Padarn and many other places although it is a drive to the nearest pub or shop.

Excellent property, excellent location, excellent hosts and dog friendly too.

This is the 3rd time we've stayed at Frondeg and we love visiting, it's so comfortable and well equipped and we never tire of the lovely views.

Einir & Hefin are such kind hosts and we always feel very spoilt by the lovely welcome basket. Located in the quiet village of Rhiwlas but really close to main routes and lots of amazing places to visit, we cannot recommend this property highly enough.

We loved our time at Frondeg , very cosy cottage, only downside the chairs & sofa not the comfiest and no facilities in the village ie : local shop, pub etc.

A fabulous cottage, the owners have taken so much care, lovely welcome pack, our dog was super safe in the garden and paddock.

All of our needs were met, even a drying rack in the porch area. Great base with lots to do right on the doorstep. Highly recommended, Hefin and Einir were perfect hosts. Will be back. Thank you

Frondeg is ideally situated for exploration of the N Wales area.

The views are spectacular. The hosts are friendly and most generous. If you want a peaceful relaxing experience then sit in the summerhouse at dusk; watch the wind sculpt the clouds in to whisps of amber red and gold as the sun sets over the Menai strait and Anglesey. Glorious.

This is an absolutely brilliant property.

Everything we needed was there, and the exceptionally friendly owners who live nearby were always available to answer any questions. The property is situated on the edge of a village with views to die for. Shame there is no pub in the village but there's a nice one with good food a short drive away. We had a great holiday and would love to come back in the future

Wow, what a property!

It's truly wonderful to be met by the owners Einir and Hefin, who are so friendly and warm, and they'll explain how things work and make sure you feel very welcome. The first thing you notice when you get into the property is how the photos do not do this cottage justice. It's absolutely beautiful throughout and the views are amazing from each aspect. The cottage has obviously been designed with this in mind as the layout really makes the most of it! You can see right over to Penrhyn Castle and Puffin Island when it's clear out. The cottage itself is immaculately clean with not a thing out of place, from the interior itself to the garden areas where there's flowers and a lovely garden area to sit if the weather's good, and a grassed area at the back where kids can play (or dogs have a run about safely!). There are also horses in the adjoining paddock which you can feed...they learn very quickly when you go out to see them that there's probably something tasty on offer. You'll have everything you'll need for your stay as everything has been thought of, there's even laundry facilities if you need them. We were spoilt for choice as to where to sit, from the comfy lounge to the sun room, and even the kitchen diner. The cottage is finished to such a high quality, with a clean, modern, yet cosy and homely finish. The perfect balance. In terms of location, if you're looking to explore North Wales, the location couldn't be better. 10 minutes from Anglesey (both bridges) and a whole bunch of places on the mainland. We stayed a week and barely scratched the surface of what was on offer. Whether you're looking for walks, beaches, or quaint villages to stop off at, you won't need to drive for more than around 40 minutes for any of them...and you'll be treated to breathtaking landscapes along the way! We've stayed in many, many cottages all over the UK and this is without a doubt our favourite. The property and location is fantastic, but it's truly the hospitality of the owners which make your stay that bit more special and sticks in your mind. Einir even dropped by on our last day with a birthday card and gift as it was my 60th birthday. If that's not the sign of a thoughtful host who truly cares about what they do, I don't know what is. I guarantee that if you book this cottage, it won't be your last visit!

Everything is excellent about Frondeg - it’s spotlessly clean & spacious, a great location for easy access to North Wales & Anglesey, the panoramic views and the “best” dog friendly garden/field we have ever been to.

The property was lovely!

Wonderfully located, very clean, homely and all round fantastic. The outside garden spaces were perfect for our kids to run around in, and the horses in the adjoining field were very friendly and an unexpected bonus as our kids really enjoyed stroking them and feeding them carrots. The owner's welcome and basket of goodies on arrival was a nice touch after such a long drive, and the location was brilliant for local walks as we ventured off to explore the local hills, including watching an incredible sunset / moonrise from Moel Rhiwen. All in the all one of the best family holidays we've had and would 100% recommend / be back again.

Frondeg is a beautiful bungalow, it feels very warm and cosy and had everything that we needed (including an EV charger which is a big plus for us).

It was lovely to meet the owners, Einir and Hefin, who were so friendly and helpful and left us a very generous welcome basket. The property is in a wonderful location with spectacular views, tucked away in a quiet village but with easy access to lots of beautiful places to visit nearby. Our visit was to meet up with our son at Bangor University and celebrate a birthday and the bungalow was an ideal rendezvous point and felt just like a 'home from home' - we hope to return!

The cottage was clean , well preserved , cosy and a real home from home .

Einir and Hefin were great hosts . They met us on arrival and explained everything to us . We had an issue with the central heating and Hefin came over immediately and sorted it out , despite it raining heavily. The location was perfect and central to all areas of interests and beaches . Our dog loved running around the paddock and watching the sheep and horses in the adjoining field. We would highly recommend this property to family and friends, and hope to return in the future. Our second stay at Frondeg and we can't fault it!

Very clean and comfortable, excellent welcome hamper including dog treats,large well maintained dog friendly gardens,friendly owners who met us on arrival and even put the kettle on for us! Only a short journey to the north wales coast and walks up into the mountains from behind the Cottage! Would definitely like to return again in the future.

Frondeg is a lovely bungalow with wonderful views of open countryside from both bedrooms as well as the kitchen-diner, the lounge and the small conservatory.

The bungalow is well equipped and spacious with attractive gardens front and rear and then a large grassed area to the front which is fully enclosed and a perfect exercising area for dogs. A great place to stay with easy access to the attractions of the region. We were greeted on arrival by the owners Einir and Hefin who were very helpful and left a very generous welcome pack (best ever for us) including treats for our dog. We were sad to leave when our week was up

A lovely bungalow with amazing views out to Anglesey.

A great place to spend a summer evening admiring the view. The location was perfect for visiting lots of places, all within 30-40 mins and we’ve seen some beautiful countryside and lakes during our stay. We found the bungalow to be very comfortable and clean and a well equipped kitchen. Had a nice welcome from the owners and received a generous welcome pack which even included treats for our dog. Our only negative feedback was that the flow from the shower left much to be desired for us and the kitchen knives could do with being sharpened or replaced. Otherwise we totally recommend staying here. We had a really enjoyable weeks holiday.

The property was in a great position overlooking countryside and views over Anglesey.

The cottage was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise and the owners came to meet us to make sure we had everything for our needs. Our dog enjoyed running around in the paddock and was fascinated by the sheep in the next field. Car parking was off road at the side of the property, enough room for two cars. A really lovely comfortable holiday home. Will definitely return one day.

This was my second time at lovely Fron Deg.

The cottage is so well thought-out with every practical thing you could possibly need. It gets harder to find holiday cottages elsewhere when you've stayed in one as perfect as this. There are so many lovely walks to enjoy from the doorstep and then you can surely never tire of the views from the front windows. I wish I could have stayed for months!

The cottage was very clean, comfortable and well thought out, being renovated especially as a holiday cottage: everything you could need and more was provided for a perfect holiday, even in January.

My dog loved charging about in the secure garden and licking the horses' noses; I loved looking at the view and enjoyed many colourful dawns and sunsets from the living room window. The owners live just behind the cottage and are very friendly and helpful.

We had a lovely few days in this clean, comfortable and cosy cottage, which definitely deserves its 5 star status.

We loved the wood burner and scenic views most. The dog loved the exercise paddock at the front of the cottage. The owners are helpful and responsive and left a welcome pack of supplies for us on arrival. We will definitely return.

Our dog enjoyed playing in the enclosed paddock and meeting the friendly horses in the field next door. Very considerate owners who left a fantastic welcome pack for us all and the cottage was warm and welcoming for our arrival over the Christmas break including tasteful Christmas decorations. We would love to return again.

Lovely bungalow in an elevated position in the village with spectacular views.

Frondeg has everything you will ever need for your holiday. Frondeg is a great base for all North Wales attractions only being 15-30 mins drive away.

Firstly the communication from the owners of the cottage was superb.

The location of the cottage was great, towards the top of the village with wonderful views. The outside space was fab - my kids (and our dog) loved playing in the paddock and saying hello to the horses in the neighbouring field. The interior was sparkly clean upon arrival with a helpful welcome pack left by the owners. The facilities were excellent and the beds super comfy! The only negative of our holiday was the weather!! Would highly recommend this cottage as a place to stay. We will definitely be returning.

The views and location were truly stunning Frondeg was in an excellent location for walking or touring.

The Accomodation is finished to a lovely standard and the kitchen is well equipped if you prefer to cook. We especially loved the amazing panoramic views and watching the sunsets from the picture window and conservatory. It really made our holiday special. The hosts were helpful friendly and welcoming. The welcome basket was full of goodies for us and our dog. Having the paddock for dog to run and play in was yet another extra feature that made our stay truly lovely. Could not have wished for more. We have booked again for next year!

What a fantastic find this cottage was, it was everything in the details plus more, on arrival it was spotlessly clean, lovely welcome hamper.

The owners came to visit us after we had settled in and were lovely people and nothing was too much trouble, views from all windows were magnificent, if we are in the area again will definitely stay again.

The cottage is very spacious and comfortable, with amazing views from many of the windows.

It is in a perfect location for exploring both Snowdonia and Anglesey. There are also lots of lovely walks direct from the cottage.

Lovely holiday cottage, was wonderful to arrive in a clean, beautifully equipped cottage after a long drive into Wales.

The welcome pack was a nice touch as well. Einir provided excellent communication and was thoughtful to let us know where we could find outdoor furniture on a sunny day. Our toddler absolutely loved the house and garden, interacting with the animals next door. The kitchen is well equipped for any of your cooking needs. Fantastic stay, we highly recommend and look forward to returning in the future.

One the first night the heating did not work.

It was fixed the following day however the radiators were extremely noisy all night. we reported this issue and the owners sent someone around the next day. Still this problem was not fixed and we had a very loud radiator all night throughout our stay.

Frondeg is the best holiday cottage we have stayed in.

Our expectations were exceeded the moment we opened the door as the bungalow smelt so fresh and clean. It was spotless, warm and so comfortable. We had absolutely everything we could possibly need as Hefin and Einir had gone to so much trouble and given a great deal of thought into making our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Our welcome gifts were thoughtful and meant we didn't need to find shops to get us started and instead relaxed with a cup of tea and slice of Bara Brith. Even Lily our golden retriever had treats! The bungalow is so convenient for exploring Anglesey and Snowdonia. We were at the foot of Snowdon within ten minutes and also did some lovely walks from the door including walking into Bangor and getting the bus back which stops opposite the house. The garden is beautiful, I took my watercolours and could have spent the week painting flowers and scenery. It's also a dog's holiday in itself as Lily loved racing around the field which was all enclosed and made friends with the horses in the adjoining field. Everything is beautifully kept and it was a pleasure to sit in the conservatory and admire the views across the fields, over Bangor and to the sea. Thank you for making our holiday so relaxing and memorable. We look forward to coming back.

Amazing holiday home which is one of the best ever stayed in.

Jaw dropping views across the valleys and the dog loved the outside paddock. Very clean throughout. Perfectly situated for visiting loads of wonderful places. We will be visiting again one day.

This is the best equipped and furnished property we have stayed in.

The location is excellent, convenient for Snowdonia, Ynys Mon , and the beaches of North Wales. The owners are local and made us feel welcome, the locals were friendly. Will definitely visit again.

Frondeg was so beautiful.

Everything in the house was of top quality, super clean and wonderfully comfortable. The gardens were beautiful and having our own paddock was the icing on the cake. The views across to the Menaii Straits was spectacular and the mountains lay just behind us. There were friendly horses in the field next to us and every day they came to say hello and to receive a carrot or apple. The location was perfect. We seemed to be no more than 5 miles from so many gorgeous areas - Anglesey, Snowdonia, Caernarfon and many more. We have enjoyed many Sykes cottages over the years, but this one was truly perfect in every way.

We have recently returned from a wonderful week at Frondeg.

Our expectations were far exceeded. Communication from the owners was excellent. They even popped over to see if we had settled in okay. The accommodation is immaculate, spacious, warm and very comfortable. The owners have literally thought of everything to make Frondeg 'home from home'. There is even a slow cooker and George Foreman Grill! The welcome pack included eggs, milk, bread, chocolates, cakes and even treats for our Border Collie who loved the space outside to run up and down with her Frisbee. The front and back gardens are completely secure. The views are incredible. We certainly hope to return next year.

This holiday accommodation is home from home, whilst you definitely need a car to get out and about the views from the bungalow are spectacular with nothing but wild life for your neighbours.

The hosts have thought of everything and should be very proud at the standards they are achieving. We would definitely recommend Frondeg to any friends and family wishing to holiday in this are?

Lovely cottage, owners fantastic.

One small criticism that our small Scottie dog struggled with the garden steps to the front and back garden, yet the description on the website makes no mention of these.

The house was mainly as expected but the welcome pack was very good and all the equipment/ rooms in the cottage were in excellent condition as the property had been fairly newly renovated.

We had an amazing holiday despite the change in wheather the bungalow we stayed in was beautiful and would recommend it to friends and family.

The location was perfect only 15 mins away from a good adventure or a stroll round town .

Lovely location very close to lots of activities and ideal for walking up Snowdon. Very dog friendly and close to a very good dog friendly pub. Hosts helpful and caring to ensure all needs are met. Highly recommend.

A little gem of a cottage in quiet location with lovely views. We spent a long weekend and wish we could of stayed longer. The cottage and grounds were beautifully maintained and the welcome pack was a thoughtful touch with something for everyone, even the dog !

The cottage is light and bright with lovely views across open countryside towards Anglesey and superb sunsets especially from the sunny patio.

On arrival the cottage was warm and inviting and there was a very generous welcome pack. Everywhere was scrupulously clean. It is well furnished and equipped and stylishly decorated and has a very pretty garden. This is a lovely place to stay - can't recommend it enough.

Location of cottage excellent to visit North Wales and Anglesey area.

Welcome tray was the best I've ever come across (Wine, cake, biscuits, dog treats, milk, tea, coffee...and more). Dog towels provided was a nice touch. Super clean and well furnished with some stylish pieces. Access to Amazon Fire Stick was an unexpected bonus although occasionally the internet speeds weren't sufficient to support this at the same time as supporting our own devices. Loved the views and garden area. Well fitted kitchen and super shower. Thanks for everything. Will definitely be recommending to friends.

Wonderful place to have a holiday.

All amenities and owners who really care and make you feel welcome. I would imagine the more people who stay here the quicker it will booked. I cannot recommend Fron Deg highly enough
