“There are bits we absolutely loved about windygates.”
The location is fantastic- being able to step outside onto the beach was fabulous- especially with small children. We loved the period feel & original features, such as the original cupboards, ceiling clothes rack, bay windows. The kitchen is small, but functional (the dining room would make a much better kitchen - with the kitchen being a utility/bootroom. Obviously this is a cost/work implication).
There are bits that are in desperate need of attention and actually felt quite grubby. Such as staining to cushions (especially the window seats) - even a bits of mould. the 2nd bedroom - headboards hanging off, the beds/bedding again feel grotty and old. The bed in the main room is very comfy, BUT, all the pillows (in both rooms) need replacing asap as they’re all flat & unsupportive.
There were only 2 cereal type bowls & no bread knife. The kitchen needs a dishwasher as the water pressure is really low. Great to have the use of a washing machine.
The shower tray fills up with water really quickly & the hoover was terrible, it barely picked anything up, meaning that sand was really hard to clean in the kitchen, these are the kind of things that really give me the ick.
the whole place needs a freshen up & could do with a paint.
I would consider staying here again - just for the location, but like I say, I needs input to bring it up to scratch.
We are glad to hear that there are things you loved about Windygates and sorry that some items did not come up to expectations. The kitchen as you say is small and functional and changing the layout would be prohibitively expensive. The various cleaning items have been addressed and the cupboards checked - there is adequate crockery and cutlery for up to six people. The low water pressure in the kitchen is a frustration and we are looking at ways to remedy this.
We hope that you will come and stay again soon!
