“We had a great holiday at this property, and it's in a good location about 15 mins walk from Treardur Bay.”

The property had spacious accomodation for our party of 9, with a good sized garden to keep the grandchildren happy, and a good sized hot tub to keep all happy when the weather was not so good. I do think the property needs a bit of TLC, there are a few things which need attention, some of which I had seen on Reviews, which had not been attended to: Loose toilet seat in the ensuite bathroom, loose window in the conservatory, light not working in the conservatory, shelf missing from the fridge, ...

I do think the property needs a bit of TLC, there are a few things which need attention, some of which I had seen on Reviews, which had not been attended to: Loose toilet seat in the ensuite bathroom, loose window in the conservatory, light not working in the conservatory, shelf missing from the fridge, very loose and rusty fence on the walk up to the front door and old and broken seating still in the garden. It's a shame, as it could be so much better, however we didn't let it spoil our holiday.

“We had been to Pencraig a few years ago and found the property to be good, hence our return!”

This visit was a little different! If the property is to continue to be a rental then some general maintenance needs to be done! Current obvious issue were… Broken window in the conservatory. Toilet seat in the ensuite bathroom fitted incorrectly, so didn’t fit the pan correctly Lots of broken chairs in the garden Old bbq left in the garden General garden maintenance poor! Oven wasn’t clean, we needed to clean before use Parts of the fridge needed cleaning Bath in main bathroom not cleaned properly, again had to clean before use Bedsheets on one bed didn’t fit, plus we asked for twin room to be made up as a double, this request was only partially met as the 2 single duvets we left as the bedding and not chsnged gor a double as one would expect! Information regarding bin collection incorrect, its currently says Wednesday but actually happened on Tuesday! Plus no spare black binbags left to assist us with helping to keep the kitchen bin clean after the first empty! No starter toilet rolls at the property on arrival, expectation would be at least one in each bathroom! The bungalow is such a lovely space and we did not let any of these issues spoil our holiday but it is such a shame that the property whilst up for sale appears to not be being maintained as well as could be!

“The property is listed for sale and clearly hasn't been loved and cared for as it should have been.”

Everything was clean and servicable, the available space plenty for a party of 8, but a couple of windows in the conservatory were broken (hinges broken, window was open and could not be closed) or would not open at all, one bed was broken(?), it was leaning over and the mattress was hard as a rock, front door lock would sometimes not open or lock and required extended fiddling, living room door would not open all the way as it was catching on the floor, kitchenware was a strange mix of too much or too little, key to the kitchen door into the garden was missing, garden wasn't really kept up, bbq was incomplete and broken, paving in the foot paths around the house was loose and wobbly. All in all, upkeep of the property scores 2 stars, cleaning a solid 4 or 5 stars, but with one wonky bed and some other oddities, 3 stars in total means an okay stay with nothing terribly wrong, but some things below par

“Wonderful spacious bungalow, great quiet location 20 mins walk from the beach.”

Loved the room sizes, big dining table, ample seating, conservatory, and patio dining table. Jacuzzi was really good and got used every day. Couple of minor gripes, cast iron railing by front door is corroded and a bit dangerous for little ones and fencing on one side has section missing so you have to keep an eye on the dogs. But other than that everything was spot on and we had a great break. Hopefully back next year.

The property was clean, spacious, well equipped, and in a fantastic location. I’d definitely recommend paying extra for the hot tub, as it was a great addition to the stay. On arrival, it took some time to locate the key, which was a little frustrating. The property is around a 10-minute walk into Trearddur Bay, with a good selection of places to eat and drink nearby.

“Pencraig is a spacious bungalow in a quiet area around a 15 minute walk from the centre of Trearddur Bay.”

It was a great base for our multi-generational week away. Plenty of space for cars, a dog-friendly enclosed garden. The kitchen is pretty good with decent equipment, and it's generally a nice place to stay. Just a couple of things would have made this place perfect and that is some new sofas as the ones here are a bit uncomfortable and quite dirty, the dining chairs etc.. were also quite dirty. Some good quality mattresses wouldn't go amiss either.

“Arrived at the property plot is huge but looking tired and needing dating .”

The inside is huge and was clean and very well equipped. We went in the garden and there was a hole in the decking by the hot tub which I reported straight away to owner incase we got billed and he said he would fix it if needed but I said we could manage till we left . Conservatory windows were open when we arrived and when we went to close them they wouldn’t shut was like they had dropped . I messaged the owner who never got back , I also messaged Sykes numerous times but they never sorted it for us either . Was so cold in there as wind blowing in our elderly parents could not use it to watch us in garden . The door in conservatory would also not open the lock is broken which I see others have complained about many times , surly this is a fire hazard! With a bit of updating and new sofas and garden landscaped this could be one amazing property as location was amazing only 15 min walk to the beach . We still had a nice holiday dispite problems but we’re very disappointed with service from owner and Sykes for not sorting out our problems

“The property is in a lovely, peaceful area with a 12 minute walk to the front.”

It's a good sized property with plenty of space for 6 adults, 4 children and a dog. The windows in the conservatory weren't able to close properly so maybe chilly when the weather cools down. A clothes maiden would be useful as when it rains not everything can go in a dryer and there's no where else to dry them. We all had a lovely time and would definitely like to stay here again.

“Pencraig is an amazing property in an ideal location for the beaches, shops and a walk into Trearddur.”

The property has everything you need the back garden is private and spacious where we spent our evenings eating alfresco. We did take our own bbq however there is a small bbq at the property. We struggled to open the conservatory doors as the locking mechanism was rusted. Possibly due to the weather salt and sand in the air. We did manage in the end and I contacted Bev the owner who responded immediately. Which was great. Perhaps a can of WD40 to be left in the house and the cleaners to check and use when needed. We had an amazing time so much so we have already booked the property for next year.

“Great Bungalow - spacious and well equipped for a group of friends or family as in our case.”

6 Adults and three children 9/6/1. nice big back garden housing the hot tub in a secluded corner which we made use of. Nicely located near Trearddur Bay although our satnav sent us a very weird way into a fenced of company yard and told to turn left up a dirt track which on reaching the top took us down a even worse track through a wooded area which was only fit for tractors and was a single use track. we were lucky we did not meet anyone coming up. The track eventually brought us out on a proper road only a short distance from the bungalow. Should anyone else have this problem turn round and ask for alternative route once entering the company yard area. When you got to the other end and joined a proper road you looked round and there was a sign that said the road we had come down was a dead end and unfit for vehicles. There are plenty of supermarkets and large shops about 10 minutes away. Also takeaways and pubs and restaurants. Do your homework on Google. A easy walk into Trearddur Bay to the pub. A couple of minor points no proper up to date folder the Wi-fi code given is not correct and you have to get it from the back of the router. Bin information was incorrect. Told we were to have bins available for access on Wednesday it happened that I was at the front of the bungalow on Tuesday when they came to empty them and quickly gave them access. The bins I may add were full. The conservatory door is locked and does not open onto the garden and the two side windows in it can not be shut. A travel cot was provided but with no mattress part. We had to improvise on our arrival. There is no lock on the gate leading from the back garden to the front of the bungalow and the road if you want to lock in small children safely. Apart from that we had a very good holiday in the bungalow and it met all our important requirements. We recommend the bungalow and should we come back to Anglesey would not hesitate to book it again as it is a really good place.

“One of our favourite parts of Anglesey to visit so knew we wouldn’t be disappointed.”

Overall we had a brilliant stay at Pencraig! All the children, adults and pets had an enjoyable time. The owner was friendly and helpful if needed, hot tub was a great plus and the beds were super comfy. We had a couple of minor issues but the owner was on hand and very quickly resolved them. If you’re looking for a stay for a large group just a short walk to the beach then I’d definitely recommend!

The rooms and the house itself were beautiful. Their were 2 things that let the holiday down, their were ants everywhere even in the bedrooms, the bathroom was the worst ! The last thing, their are no outside lights and my husband fell off the step by the hot tub and has now got a lovely brushed hand and leg !!

“Fabulous location for our outdoor needs.”

House was well laid out and perfect size for our extended family, 5 adults, 4 children 3 dogs, get together - the kitchen was particularly well equipped. We all enjoyed good nights sleep in comfy beds. However, I have to agree with Christine Aug 2023 in that the house, path (loose bricks at top of ramp) and garden require TLC; the house and furniture in the photos were not always accurate in reality. As well as the sitting room furniture being grubby and worn so were other pieces of furniture eg. some bedside cabinets badly scuffed. We didn’t use the conservatory as a window wouldn’t close properly but the blinds in end left double room had the pieces to hold them together broken off, there was also a damp smell at that end of the house particularly in said bedroom. I would also agree with comments about the bathroom and lack of instructions re recycling - we just hope we sorted it correctly. We left the house as we found it but unfortunately the dishwasher hadn’t quite finished, even though we had an extra early breakfast, for us to be out by the required time, so were unable to empty it. It’s the first place I have arrived at with no welcome pack, which would have been fine had our Tesco delivery arrived at expected time 7-8pm but didn’t arrive until 11pm-not your fault I know- but it would have been nice to have a cuppa after a long journey without having to go shopping for milk and biscuits. We still had a lovely family time together but as we only stayed 2 nights I really think that it was over priced even including cleaning bills incurred between lettings. As I said earlier the house and it’s position is fabulous but please give it some attention before the next season.

“The positives include the location which is excellent, quiet yet within walking distance of Trearddur Bay, and the well equipped kitchen.”

The beds were comfortable and the generously sized towels for the hot tub were appreciated. The house was spacious enough for our party of six adults, four children and two dogs. There were many negatives, however, and the house and garden really need some attention. The heavy coping stones on top of a wall in the garden were loose and just balanced on top. That was a serious danger, with children and dogs running around. The furniture in the sitting room was grubby and worn, and the vertical blinds in the conservatory were torn. The shower door in the en-suite didn’t close properly so the floor was likely to flood. The shower in the main bathroom was weak and the bath didn’t drain very well. As other reviewers have said, there was no information provided about when recycling bins should be put out. Consequently, we arrived to overflowing bins outside the property. I messaged the owner in advance to ask if the single beds in one bedroom could be linked together, and was told they would be. But they weren’t. I’ve never written such a negative review. We really enjoyed our holiday, but I strongly feel that it was overpriced.

The kitchen was well equipped. The garden and hot tub was great for our family. There were instructions for all appliances but nothing about how to recycle in the numerous bins provided. Each county have their own rules on recycling so some instructions would have helped. We did our best to group items together and hope it was ok. All in all we had a fabulous time. Thank you x

We went as a family of 11 would highly recommend the location 2 mins from the beach but I would take note that there computers provided for the kids but they don't actually work when u get there so I would take one with u we also paid extra for the hot tub which we went for 3 nights but only had the use of the hot tub for 2 nights as it wasn't hot when we got there it which cost us an extra £200 which is a bit shocking it is also not covered people on main road can see u in hot tub not private at all back garden is beautiful but at night there is 2 very poorly lit lights the hot tub has no lights at all which made it quite difficult to go in at night (had a few near misses) and the blinds in the property need updating as hardly any of these work especially in the conservatory

The large sofa is not very comfortable now due to wear & tear. There were several broken draws, shower head and holder, we had to repair a wardrobe door as it fell off when it was opened. The conservatory sliding door handle was broken. We did have a great stay and it is in a lovely part of Anglesey. The hot tub was fab and well used.

“The cottage is amazing, it had everything we needed.”

There were just a couple of communication issues. We knew from reading previous reviews that the hot tub was an additional £200 to hire. But at the time of booking, and indeed paying the full balance, it was never stated that if we didn’t pay for the hot tub BEFORE arriving, we would have to move heaven and earth with numerous phone calls to Sykes (very helpful) and the owner (not very helpful) to get them to unlock the hot tub. If you pay before, they leave the key… if you don’t you will have to wait till Monday as the hot tub people don’t work on Sundays. Luckily Sykes were very helpful and we finally got a key from the housekeeper who came out on her day off!! Once at the cottage there is a key box on the windowsill in the kitchen with keys to the outhouse etc… only we didn’t know about it until the housekeeper showed us because it looked like just an ornament… and there is no welcome pack telling you where things are etc… Aside from that, we had the best stay!! Location is superb and facilities are perfect. Will be booking the cottage again and will be booking with Sykes again to other destinations as they are professional to the core!!! Hope the hot tub miscommunication gets sorted, it rather ruined my Sunday.

Lovely bottle of bubbles and chocs on arrival. Bit of a problem with condensation pudding on floors and dishwashers not closing properly....but nothing major. A bit of a guide would have been useful explaining where the key box containing all the additional keys was, the location of the tumble dryer, what to do with recycling and if beds needed stripping before we left etc. Over all a fabulous place to stay.

“Came here in October 2021, it really was one of the best cottages we’ve been to.”

It was brilliantly clean and was very well equipped. We paid for the hot tub and it really was a highlight. It’s around a 15 minute walk to the the lovely Trearddur bay which has some lovely restaurants to eat from, and the beach is stunning especially at sunset. We are already looking at coming back next year sometime which we have never done with a cottage before. So hopefully we will be back soon :)

We appreciated staying at this place. Feedback: - Upon arrival we realized that there was an extra charge of 150 for the hot tube. I find the website information misleading as it looks to be included within the house rental: https://www.menaiholidays.co.uk/cottage/Anglesey-Trearddur-Bay/Pencraig-1008952.html I understand that you will want to add some reasonable maintenaces fees but 150 is too expensive, almost 15% of the rent. - There is no coffee machine, only a single shot french press. Not enough for a house of this size. We end up buying one at Tesco.

“(1) The bottom hinge on the fridge door has the screws missing.”

(2) The fridge leaks and the water drains into the bottom drawer. (3) The freezer needs defrosting. (4) The garden needs attention. (5) We went out to the shops leaving the wife's 90 year old mother with the dog in the bungalow. When we returned we were informed by a passing jogger that three youths had been standing on the driveway and one of them had been looking through the front room windows.Luckily the wife's mother had been sitting in the conservatory and the dog's barking seemed to scare them off. We found this quite worrying.

A few things needed attention whilst we were there and the local contact was keen to get things sorted out. The main outstanding issue was there was not enough cutlery for 9 people. However, otherwise it was a lovely place to relax and spend time.

Holyhead 2.1 miles; Rhosneigr 14 miles; Cemaes Bay 15.3 miles

Trearddur Bay is situated on the western shore of Holy Island. It’s truly beautiful - a great sweep of low grassy coastline indented with rocky coves and fine sandy beaches (European Blue Flag). Watersports, bathing, sailing and windsurfing are the main activities in the summer months and golfers will enjoy the excellent Holyhead 18 hole links golf course. It’s a great place for nature lovers with renowned birdwatching at the South Stack Lighthouse RSPB Reserve and lots of rock pools and cliff top walks to explore. There are shops, pubs and restaurants in Trearddur Bay itself and nearby Holyhead offers a wider range of amenities, including a very good leisure centre, an interesting harbour front, a marina, the world’s second longest breakwater and exciting day trips to Dublin on the ferry. The Maritime Museum in Holyhead has an excellent cafe and the beautiful Holyhead Breakwater Country Park has walks for you to enjoy. Further afield there is the stunning Newborough with its excellent woodland and beach and Beaumaris with its town and castle. A great location with plenty to see and do!
