“Good evening
We all had a fantastic time at Rockside.”
We have always accepted the small issues in holiday homes until last year when the advice from Sykes expressed the importance of letting you know of any problems.
While Rockside is a beautiful home and situated overlooking the bay, there are a few things I believe could be improved on , especially if the owners are asking near 9k to 10k for a week in high season.
Starting from the Enclosed rear garden,
If you have small dogs they will get under the gates as ours did .
The BBQ , this needs to be updated and made into a proper BBQ area .
The hot tub , which the young teens enjoyed could have a little private screen put up to allow privacy from the road at night .
The outdoor fire pit could have a supply of wood for their visitors , we have stayed In cheaper homes which has given the guests wood to use .
Kitchen
On the first night we purchased a tin opener as the one provided didn't work .
I would like to have seen a clean looking toaster and tea and sugar caddy.
The 4 slice toaster should be up graded to accommodate the party of 12 .
We had a sainsbury delivery and for 12 people as you can imagine It was big , there was a lot of frozen items I had to cook early to prevent it being wasted because the house only had a 3 draw freezer , not big enough , below average size for any home.
The larder fridge had a broken draw which came off in Your hands every time and was held together with sellotape.
The kitchen knives need replacing, even with a sharpening device they had no cutting ability.
Bedrooms
No towels in the master bedroom.
Each room needed extra loo rolls .
I took my own so we were OK.
Balcony and lounge light out .
Doors
Side door we could not use as no key , but I think it's because it didn't work as from the outside it's rusty and the lock spins in its barrel .
This was a shame because we then had to come in the font door with sandy shoes .
The garage
No light working , so no table tennis played at night .
Garage roof leaked.
Path at the front of the house .
There is permission for anyone to walk this path and they do , so the private pebble beach is not a beach nor private and everyone stares happily into Yr holiday home and walk over the rocks.
The beach isn't private nor easy to get down to via rocks for older members and its so tiny it's not worth it .
The main bay is fabulous and only 2 mins from the house.
I appreciate the above seems very negative, but if I had paid 9k for the week and private area which I thought I was getting I would not have been happy
The home is lovely , but is tired in areas and need attention .
We had a great stay and I hope the owners take on board my comments as structured criticism and appreciate the five stars they have for their beautiful home.
Warm regards
