The Old Stable

This was our 3rd visit to the stables really friendly owners lovely welcome pack very well equipped cottage would recommend it to family & friends.

A very comfortable base for exploring N Wales and Merseyside.

With very poor weather this was an excellent place to retire to in the evening with a well equipped kitchen for self catering. Really appreciated the welcome pack and Gill was a very informative and helpful host. Highly recommended

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Old Stable, stunning accommodation with everything you need, Gill is just so lovely and the perfect host, on my arrival the wood burner was in full flow, so the property was lovely and toasty warm for me, also with a lovely welcome pack of milk, bread, scones and fresh eggs to get you started, I would not hesitate to stay here again, it was so nice and had a lovely feel to the property, Many thanks to Gill and Terry x

Lovely welcome pack, cottage clean and cosy. Good base for sight seeing. Chester a lovely place to visit - recommend using Park and Ride. Really enjoyed our chat with Terry, Aura and Gill later in the week.

Another great stay at the Old Stable; Gill and Terry are wonderful hosts and the cottage is excellent.

However, I cannot say the same for Sykes customer service which is truly awful. I have telephoned their Chester office four times and waited in total over an hour to get through to their Customer Service team (unsuccessfully) Interestingly though when I chose the option of making a booking, my call was answered almost immediately . I have made twelve bookings with Sykes this year to the value of thousands of pounds , so clearly they have no issues with taking bookings and accepting payments .

Excellent location, good for snowdon, Chester and Liverpool.

Good cycling as well. Property perfect for our needs and great hosts.

We had an excellent time at the property.

Everything was ready for us to move straight into, including a welcome pack in the kitchen. We wanted to be close to Chester so that we could visit family, but also close enough to explore other areas such as Liverpool, Conwy Castle and Beeston Castle. We really enjoyed our stay, Jill and Terry were very welcoming and happy to deal with any issues, but we had none. Hope to come and stay again

We spent four weeks here in August 2023.

Suffice to say we have booked a two week stay over the Christmas period . Brilliant, exceptional! Dawn and Joe.

Fully equipped for our stay and good central place as a base to visit surrounding places and North Wales.

The old stable (Yr Hen Stabl) was one of the best equipped holiday cottages I’ve styed at.

It was clean and comfortable and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. Probably not one of the more obvious places for a holiday but I found the location very interesting and convenient for many places of interest. I liked having regular bus and train services within a short walk and there is plenty of room to park directly in front of the cottage. Very much recommended.

The cottage is comfortable and compact, ideal for a couple.

It is in a pleasant location, well situated for numerous places of interest to visit.

Everything explained and if we required additional materials we only had to ask and they would be supplied. Owners and family were very friendly and we would return to stay again.

( use the park and ride ) Nice welcome pack, of milk, eggs etc. Television in bedroom, plenty of parking, well equipped kitchen. Good hosts, owners.

Superb cottage in a lovely area.

Comfortable, extremely clean, fully equipped with everything you might want, friendly and helpful owners - what more could you want to have a great holiday (although better weather for late June would have been welcome!) Only slight snag is that if you are old, tall and arthritic (like me) you might find it difficult to get up from it - but normal people should have no problems. It would not stop me booking again unless I get even more decrepit!

Nice and light but still cosy inside with plenty of cooking space and equipment. The cottage is.in a good location for visiting both coastal regions and country side. Very friendly and helpful hosts and lovely useful welcome pack on arrival.

The Old Stable was a perfect base to explore North Wales.

The cottage was a home from home and the owners had thought of everything to make our stay extremely comfortable. It was well equipped, spotlessly clean and the welcome pack which greeted us was certainly enjoyed! An information folder contained details of local markets, places of interest to visit and local restaurants which were recommended by previous visitors. Access to the coast, Llangollen and the local areas was well sign-posted and the Spring sunshine added to wonderful days spent visiting so many interesting places. Our thanks to the owners who were always available in case of any queries.

Excellent all round if I could give it 11 out of 10 stars that's the rating I would give it, the the hosts Terry and Gill were excellent and made us feel most welcome went into their house most morning for one of Gill excellent breakfast most certainly be back

We loved the location of the cottage, excellent base for exploring into North Wales, the Chester area, and Liverpool, the cottage was lovely and clean we were the first to stay, since the reopening after coronavirus, and Gill the owner couldn't have been more welcoming and re-assuring, she made sure we had all we needed, and could contact her if we needed to.

Lovely welcome pack left for us, perfect for a cup of tea and snack on arrival while unpacking. Lovely pub within walking distance. Highly recommended cottage Thank you Gill.

What a beautiful cottage!

We found everything as promised and were welcomed by the friendly owners. It was easy to find the Park and Ride into Chester, which made our day there so much easier. Llangollen was also beautiful. It was just a pity that we cut our week short in order to travel home in light of the current health concerns. Thank you for everything!

Lovely holiday home in a fantastic location, within easy driving distance to lots of lovely places such as Snowdonia, Anglesey, Chester, Liverpool and lovely small Welsh towns.

Owners are lovely and as they run the B and B next door you are able to have their breakfast which is reasonably priced. The accommodation is spotless and has everything you could want or need. Would highly recommend.

Very comfortable warm cottage with all the facilities you could need.

Friendly welcome with some basic necessities waiting for you and some local Welsh cakes....yum. Outside space was a pleasant surprise and even came with a herb garden and fruit to pick. Would definitely recommend.

We had a fantastic week staying at The Old Stable, so peaceful and easy access to go places.

It's clean and comfortable and well equipped and finished to a very high standard. The location is good because it has easy access to the coastal resorts and only a few minutes to the park & ride for Chester. We're happy to recommend it.

We had a wonderful stay at the Old Stable.

The owners were extremely friendly and provided us with a welcome package on arrival which included eggs which were fresh from their own hens and they were lovely. The cottage is well situated and acted as a good base for our trips around North Wales. We had a very peaceful week away. Great for recharging the batteries! We would definitely recommend a visit! We would love to go back. Thank you Gill and Terry for a wonderful peaceful Christmas break

Probably best described as bijou, small but elegant!

Everything was well planned and comfort was second to none. Beautiful property and easy access to surrounding area, choice of dog walks literally on the doorstep and especially the Wirral peninsula of which we'd never visited before, exceptional dog friendly beaches definitely NOT aimed at families...breathtaking! Property wise, the positives far outweigh the negatives, the pluses are too numerous to mention, the only gripes was that the so called "smart" radiators were only sufficient to keep the chill off, needed to light the log burner some mornings but every evening...which wasn't a great shame as it was mostly November. The "wet room" was the biggest disappointment as was fitted with only a basic electric shower, may be fine during the summer months but with no heating other than a heated towel rail, taking a shower was perishing. Apart from lack of storage space it was an absolute delight! Really disappointed we had to leave a day early due to work commitments. Thank you to the lovely, helpful and unobtrusive owners...and Sykes yet again!!!

The cottage was in a great location, easy access to the surrounding areas.

There was no road noise which was great just the occasional rooster in the morning! The owners Gill and Terry were both lovely and very helpful, we knew that if we needed anything they were right next door. The only thing I would say is that me and my partner are tall and the towels just didn't fit! It was very much made for shorter people but it was still a very good cottage.

The cottage very cosy and comfortable. There was a road outside but the noise was not disturbing . It was convenient for quite a few places.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Stables,warm welcome from Gil &Terry location was ideal with easy access to all the main roads which was ideal for touring also a bus route into the lovely city of Chester,definitely book again.
