Description

Briar Bank is an impressive cottage resting in Barmouth, Gwynedd, enjoying an elevated position with sweeping views across Cardigan Bay towards the Llŷn Peninsula.

Ideally suited to families and friends, this coastal retreat offers two woodburning stoves, striking sea views and easy access to the surrounding coastline and Eryri National Park (Snowdonia).

Follow the winding driveway up to the property, park the car and pause to take in the far-reaching coastal scenery that makes an immediate impression on arrival.

Step inside and enter the cosy sitting room, where a large window captures the elevated sea views and provides a captivating backdrop to time spent together.

Take your pick of the sofa or armchairs, switch on the TV for a favourite film, or watch the flames flicker in the woodburning stove tucked neatly into its nook.

Move through to the cosy living/dining room, where two sofas invite you to relax while another woodburning stove, set beside partially exposed stonework, adds character to the space.

The breathtaking views across the water remain firmly in sight, while the dining table is ready for leisurely meals and conversations about the day's discoveries.

The kitchen is the hub of the house, where green fixtures bring colour to the room and natural light streams through the skylight above.

Take a seat at the breakfast bar while the designated chef prepares something delicious using the oven, grill and hob, then store your holiday provisions in the fridge/freezer ready for the days ahead.

The Quooker tap and toaster make light work of breakfast before setting off for the coast, and a cloakroom rounds off the ground floor.

As the day comes to a close, climb the stairs and choose from four bedrooms, comprising a super-king-size zip/link, two king-size bedrooms and a double.

One of the king-size bedrooms pairs its wonderful sea view with an en-suite shower room, allowing you to start the morning with the coastline in sight, while the remaining bedrooms provide welcoming places to rest ahead of another day's adventures.

The family bathroom offers further space to refresh, whether you sink into the freestanding bath for a long soak or step beneath the walk-in shower.

Enjoy the hot tub or dinner outside on the patio accompanied by the coastal panorama.

A glass balustrade allows those impressive views to remain uninterrupted, while the adjoining gravelled area and furniture provide another place to sit with a favourite drink as the light changes across the sea.

Everyday essentials are within easy reach, with a shop and pub less than a mile away and the beach just over a mile from the property and dolphins are spotted regularly.

Discover Barmouth and spend hours on its golden sands, follow the Welsh Coast Path beside Cardigan Bay, or venture onto the water for swimming, paddleboarding and kayaking.

Head along the coast to Harlech, under ten miles away, to explore the historic town, take in the surrounding North Wales scenery and discover more of the dramatic coastline.

For adventures further inland, journey into Eryri National Park (Snowdonia), where vast mountain landscapes form the backdrop to days of walking and cycling through some of Wales' most remarkable scenery.

Dolgellau is also just over ten miles away, offering another destination for days away from the shoreline before returning to your coastal base.

At the end of each adventure, return to Briar Bank in Barmouth, kindle the woodburning stove and admire the sea views as you anticipate another day exploring Gwynedd.
