Bothi

The Bothi was a great base for exploring North Wales.

It had everything we needed, was clean on arrival and well maintained. At £500 for a week in June I feel it was excellent value. We paid and extra £50 to use the Hot Tub which was a perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring, followed by a glass of wine with beautiful countryside views. 5*

Great stay at the Bothi.

So peaceful and quiet, and the hot tub was great to end the day. Although we had the beautiful wet welsh weather for the week, we found plenty of walks, and head to the coast as well to fill in our time. White water centre was excellent, and food could be found at restaurants in Bala.

Unbelievable little gem.

We booked the Bothi late as a 70th birthday treat.

It lived up to our expectations in terms of comfort and location. We experienced a week of interesting weather but managed to do some great walking in the local area. A great view from the property and starry nights from the hot tub. I tried the fishing but without success and we ate out at the Eagles which was a friendly and welcoming venue. I would definitely recommend this property.

It is beautiful, clean and has everything you need. We stayed for 5 nights and could have happily stayed for longer.

Great place, away from it all.

Had a lovely relaxing time. Everything we needed was there. Outdoor hot tub was fantastic with amazing views. Could not fault in any way and would definitely recommend this property for a get a way from it all relaxing break. Easy to gain access and nice welcome pack. We will definitely be back again. We had a slight problem with the heating, this was sorted quickly.

The cottage is very secluded, although 2 properties next to it, we didn't hear or see the occupants. Not many fish in the river due to otters upstream. Clean and tidy cottage, well equipped. Take ear plugs in Autumn as the acorns fall from the ancient oak tree day and night, onto the roof above the bedroom. Hot tub is an extra cost per week, but well within the price range normally added to properties.

Beautiful place cosy warm great scenery.

Perfect place to unwind. Hopefully returning next year with the dogs.x

We loved our stay in the Bothi.

The cottage is in a beautiful part of North Wales and is quiet and secluded. Everything in the cottage is provided except Wi-Fi, which we were happy to do without. Two sets of French doors lead either from the living room or the bedroom onto the patio. The living room is wonderfully cosy, and the underfloor heating is excellent. The bed is extremely comfortable and ensures a good night's sleep after exploring during the day. The optional hot tub is not to be missed and we enjoyed our evenings relaxing in the tub. The sky was clear and we spent some time star gazing from the luxury of the hot tub.

The bothi is in a beautiful location, having the outside space overlooking beautiful fields and mountains made our stay so special .

We loved having the use of the Jacuzzi. The Bothi would benefit from a few extra appliances and tools in the kitchen, but this certainly didn’t affect our stay and the host is more than happy to source things for you. Many thanks for the replacement tin opener and cheese grater. As others have said the Bothi would certainly benefit from more close storage, there is room in the living room behind the sofas for a medium sized wardrobe and it wouldn’t look out of place, I had to hang long dresses off the curtain pole in the living room. Also some ventilation in the bathroom. Am extractor would solve the steaming issues. It now has a clothes airer but would benefit from a small washing line, there’s more than enough room down the side of the Bothi. The only other real criticism would be the price of the Bothi against the standard of the property, the towels were really rough, we were glad we took our own, it was slightly dirty and dusty in places, but this certainly didn’t affect our stay. I had to scrub the garden furniture on arrival, it was covered in a black mold. I feel they could easily drop the price and this would make it far more appealing. I would certainly stay again… if the price matched the stay.

A very well thought out conversion beautifully done.

Bed was comfortable and all the rest of the fittings were first class. But best of all was the view and daily entertainment by the lambs.

Wonderful well appointed accommodation.

Clean and tidy with all amenities in place. Peace and tranquility at its best, we didn't miss the Wifi at all. Large hot tub, a great beak away for two. Friendly attentive owners, well worth the stay, highly recommended

Firstly, disappointed with lack of wi-fi as I was not aware until arrival at property.

TV viewing was therefore restricted to Freeview channels and I could not use my Amazon Alexa. As previous guests have noted, lack of instructions/manuals for anything and it took me a day or two to work out how to switch on heated towel rail. No black bags were provided for bed linen at end of stay and instructions for stripping bed were not clear. A bigger garden area with some grass would have been nice as the front of the property was just ugly tarmac. View was splendid though.

Property was beautiful, clean and amazing location and full of everything you could want or need.

The hot tub was an amazing addition and a fantastic end to the day under the stars. The only thing that could have made our stay better would have been if the showers hot water lasted longer than 3 minutes at a time a real negative in a beautiful waterfall shower with amazing water pressure.

The bothi is an ideal base for walking the Welsh hills and mountains.

Arenig fawr is a mountain a short distance from the cottage and is fantastic walk. The cottage also offer's fishing on your doorstep. Looking forward to the next visit.

An amazing little tucked away gem of a place, total peace and quiet, beautiful surroundings, everything in the cottage as stated in the description.

The hot tub is a must!! What better way to unwind than with a glass of wine whilst chilling in the tub, shower is awesome too. Whole cottage spotlessly clean. Definitely be back next year.

Great location and well presented property.

Lack of manuals for electric equipment very frustrating and time consuming. Would recommend taking own towels , those provided were poor quality. Hot tub a very early model and the wooden steps to gain access are rotting, to the extent they are now a safety hazard .

Stunning location and very peaceful.

Cottage perfect for 2 people. Loved the bonus of the hottub, worth spending the £50 on. We had everything we needed inside but there were a couple of points worth noting. The inside was overrun with spiders. They were in every corner of every room...would have been better if they had been removed before our arrival! The DVD player was described as Blueray, however it refused to play our blueray disc at all. The mattress seriously needs replacing. It has collapsed underneath and this is clearly visible. We both had a bad back by day 3 of our stay. It would be great if there was a switch to turn off the outside lights. They came on every night and were a magnet for all flying insects which meant we couldn't leave the doors or windows open at night. It was 28 degrees in the bedroom one evening...if the lights can't be turned off then maybe supply a couple of fans. A clothes airer would havd also been welcome for hanging up wet towels and swimwear from the hottub.

The only thing we think may improve is black out curtains, as light come on outside bedroom at night.

bothi was cozy and comfortable, from the moment we arrived we felt at home ,the rooms were well proportioned and the kitchen well equipped, the shower pressure was impressive and the underfloor heating was great .

The cottage was immaculate.

Definitely lacked storage though. Nowhere in the bathroom to put toiletries at all. Instructions for the cooker would have been extremely useful and also for the hot tub. The key for the front door was in the door when we arrived and we didn't see anyone all week apart from a young man who told us his Uncle, who owned the place, would probably tell us to leave the money on the table for the hot tub?? How to use it would have been helpful!! Extremely disappointing!!

A lovely location and outlook.

However the property lacked some key facilities. *The bathroom lacked any space for toiletries. A shelf and/or cabinet would be advisable, there is room for both. A shower tidy is also helpful. *The bedroom lacked cupboard space with a small hanging space in the small utility cupboard outside. *No hanging space for wet outer clothing. *No appliance instructions in the welcome pack. Helpful if you don't know or are not familiar with them. * Internet router access would be helpful for online bookings *Some of the lighting has nor been checked, many bulbs not functioning on the cooker hood, bathroom mirror and lounge area. So disappointing as the owner has just renovated the property!!

Peace and quiet, tranquil is the correct description for the Bothi.

Situation off the beaten track with kites buzzard and a myriad of house martins, swifts and shallows and LBJ's, ( little brown jobbies), birds. More information about walks from the property and about the immediate area would have been good. But all in all, enjoyed our stay. Efficient hosts too.

The Bothi was very clean and comfortable and had everything you needed, it was very quite and peaceful just what the doctor ordered, we would definitely book again as soon as possible.

Had a lovely relaxing holiday at the 'Bothi'.

No noise except bird song and lambs bleating and the distant burbling of the stream. The Bothi is comfortable with everything you need and warm and cosy even with the heating off which, at the beginning of May was great. Bala is the main town for shopping with Chemist, Bakery and Co-op / Spar stores also Cafés Pubs for eating out.

Beautiful property located in a picturesque setting.

Went to sleep hearing the owls hoots and woke to the birds singing. Was fabulously decorated and clean and was also very warm with the underfloor heating. The owner was easy to get hold of should we needed to but equally left us to enjoy our minibreak in peace and quiet. We will be back again, thank you.

The Bothi was lovely just as advertised or maybe better.

It was clean well equipped and had wonderful views. It says it all that I would love to stay again. The owner introduced herself but that was it, not intrusive but friendly and said let her know if anything wasnt right. A great holiday

A Beautiful setting for a well appointed cottage .

We had a lovely stay at Bothi.

It's in a stunning location. A small issue with the heating was sorted quickly by the owner who was friendly and helpful. Unlike other cottages we have stayed at, there was no welcome pack ie. milk, bread etc which would be a nice addition as there isn't a shop nearby. We would definitely recommend Bothi as a very peaceful and relaxing stay.

The property was lovely.

Perfect for two. The position is enviable with quietness and views. The property is well equipped and is a home from home. There were just a couple of fine details that would make stay perfect; there is no where in the bathroom for the toiletries, and no shelf in the shower. The level of detail in the information booklet in the property is limited. No information on Where is the nearest hospital, doctor dentist in case of emergency. Where is the nearest large supermarket, are there restaurants local. What local attractions are about. Not everyone is in Wales to walk. With the lack of WiFi and 4G is hit and miss or not everyone has the ability, this info is vital. The only big disappointment is when asking for help with the heating, we didn’t get it, we also don’t understand the logic that you don’t provide towels but do supply bed linen. What’s the difference.

Really enjoyed our staycation and would definitely use Sykes again.

From our point of view, because we were away for a total of 10 days, a washing machine in the Bothi might have been more useful than a dishwasher (although we made full use of that appliance!). The owner did, kindly, offer to let us use her washing machine but we didn't want to bother her. There is an airer and an iron so you could hand wash (I bought some powder with good intentions)! The Bothi made a great base for touring the area and was lovely to come back to in the evening. Being walking distance from a good pub was an added bonus and we would have done that more than once had we not pre-purchased so many groceries to last the week! Also enjoyed our evening meal at Cyfnod Cafe and Bistro (owner and staff working so hard from dawn 'til dusk but still made time for a chat)!

We really enjoyed our stay at Bothi.

The place was very clean, comfortable & furnished throughout to very high standards. Everything we needed whilst there, was provided. There were lots of places to visit within a few miles & luckily we had good weather. We would not hesitate to recommend Bothi to our family & friends & would certainly book it again should we wish to tour the area further.

! The accommodation was as we expected comfortable and fulfilled our needs.

The property was smart and well fitted out.

Best of all - a comfortable bed with a beautiful view and a fabulous power shower. For a couple this is perfect and we'd certainly stay here again. Pleasant and helpful owners, who fixed a very minor problem quickly when asked. This area is well suited for roving around North Wales, as most places are no more than an hour and 15 minutes or so away - and many closer than that, e.g. 50 minutes to Portmeirion and an hour to Bodnant Gardens.

Lovely little house, the weather helped as we were able to sit with the doors open most of the time and take in the amazing views!

Great shower which was useful after a hard days walking. Well equipped kitchen (no washing machine- would have been useful). Ideally located for walking- don’t even need to take the car, many paths nearby. Heating seemed good although didn’t need it. Easy to find. Outdoor seating great, lovely views of sheep and hills. Only negatives- there is property right next door- this is hidden in the photos. Not sure what the ‘games room’ was, I would have called it the living room. Not very clean at all- having stayed somewhere else a few weeks prior we were given a covid checklist there. Here there was dust on the skirting, on light switches- suggesting they were not cleaned, shower had hair in it, floors had been cleaned with a dirty mop found outside, food splashes on cupboards. Had to reclean which only took us an hour. Checkout was 1 hour early, checkin 1 hour later- not sure why with this level of cleaning. For the price this was unexpected- charge was 2x our of season price. We would stay again because we don’t mind cleaning and apart from that it was a handy location.

Bothi was very well appointed and comfortable.

Set in an amazing location with lovely views over the fields. We had a great stay and explored around quite a lot of Norrh Wales and Snowdonia. Well worth a visit.

We had a lovely relaxing holiday at Bothi Lodge, in beautiful surroundings, with walks direct from the Lodge.

The Lodge itself was modern and very well equipped. All in all a great place to take a vacation!

It would have been advantageous, as there was a dishwasher, to be provided with at least a couple of dishwasher tablets.

..none provided. No hand soap in bathroom....only one half a toilet roll.....no welcome information pack...no instructions for operating the underfloor heating....shower control knob very stiff and hard to turn...door hinges need oiling...otherwise well equipped and comfortable.

He accommodation was excellent it was more than we were expecting .

It was very comfortable and very peaceful . It was the first time we had been on holiday in Wales and we both thought wales was beautiful . We will be returning to stay at this property in the near future .

Bothi is the epitome of tranquillity.

It's position in a quiet area of Llanuwchllyn is second to none. The welcome given by Mr & Mrs Rowlands was an excellent start to our holiday. The Bothi was spotlessly clean, well-equipped and 'felt like home'. The scenery and ambience of the Bothi was a perfect example of peacefulness. We were quite upset when we left 'The Bothi @ Llanuwchllyn' at the end of our week's stay. We would highly recommend it. Ian & Jan (Swansea, South Wales)

For any one who loves peace and quiet then this is the place for them.

To be able to sit out side and watch all the different birds, listen to the bleating of the little lambs was really lovely. The cottage was really nice too, clean and comfortable with all you need. The couple who owned the Bothi were really lovely. They were very welcoming and friendly. My husband and i are both very happy to have stayed there.
