The Barn by Lyons

The barn was lovely but we all felt that it needed a bit of TLC.

The kitchen had cracked cupboards, the dishwasher door had it's white gloss covering missing. There needs to be a caution for the kitchen hot water and it is so hot it burnt 2 of the guests. The whole tap becomes that hot that when you go to put the cold tap on if you touch it with the side of your hand it burns you. All the wardrobes and chests of drawers in the bedrooms has at least one broken draw you couldn't use. It says there is a BBQ which there was but completely unusable as it was filthy. The wheelie bin was full and smelt awful when we got there but that could do with the lack of instructions in the welcome pack to say it needs actually to be put out for the bin men to collect it. Welcome pack needs updating and more information. Couldn't find the WiFi code until we checked every single draw in the kitchen. I think this should be wrote in the welcome pack. Also about the bin collection. Hot tub was turned off when we got there by the wall, took a while to figure out how it worked. We had to call maintenance because it smelt funky like it hadn't been cleaned. Pillows in bedrooms where very flat could do with new ones. I asked for all rooms to be turned into doubles which wasn't done for one of them. Me and my husband had to sleep in the twin. Toilet needs a lock putting on like the bathroom. Because when there is a few of you staying it's nice to have that extra bit of security/privacy. The doors downstairs are all very creaky could do with oiling to not wake the whole house up in the middle of the night. The bedroom closest to the bathroom it's door latch is very stiff. Cobwebs and dust in the bedrooms in-between the wardrobes and drawers. We did have a lovely holiday apart from all that and we were very lucky with the weather. But we all felt the barn just lacked the extra attention to detail.

Just returned home from our 3rd consecutive trip to the The Barn for our annual lads trip away with the dogs.

The property is ideal for us with such a large social space, pool table, hot tub and nice and comfortable bedrooms. Great communication by Sykes and the property owners - nothing was too much trouble. Looking forward to our visit next year - thank you

We loved the barn.

The heating system is a bit off. Roasting upstairs cold down but the maintenance guys and staff were fantastic and on hand immediately when any problems occurred. We had a lovely family break at the barn

The property was described as having a dishwasher but it was not supplied.

The extractor fan in the bathroom did not work and there was a missing light in the bathroom, just a hole in the ceiling. There were no hooks supplied on any of the doors. The double bed mattress was not comfortable.

It was a fantastic stay in a fantastic location.

It could do with a few tweaks. it needs new blinds in the bedroom and the lounge. In the kitchen it needs functioning blinds to shut out the road lights. Downstairs it needs some coat hooks in the entrance .And maybe some soft lighting in the lounge as the overhead lights are a bit harsh.All this said we will be back!!!

Absolutely loved our stay at The Barns.

What a fantastic holiday home. We stayed for a week in October and our holiday was helped by having perfect weather. Not a single drop of rain the whole week. The Barns is a wonderful base to explore this part of Wales. Wether it's beach, forest, waterfall or moorland walks, all are situated on your doorstep. Some good ones straight from your door without having to use the car. My kids loved the concept of an upside-down house. Smart tv in every room was a big plus and comfy beds ensured a good night's sleep. The hot tub was very welcome every evening to sooth our aching limbs from all the walking! I can highly recommend this accommodation for a lovely Welsh holiday.

Great location , hot tub fabulous and maintained the only thing that let it down was the cleanliness of the property had to go to the office for the floors to be cleaned.

They did apologise and sent a cleaner round to sort and mop the floors, After this we cleaned the stairs and hoovered them due to being full of dust and dog hairs ( these hadn’t been done ). Bathroom !!! Needed a make over definitely not a 4.9 rating . Had to hunt for the remote control for tv in bedroom, found at the back of Chester drawers together with months of dust. Stayed for 2 weeks no change of towels or bedding for second week (received this service in other properties we have stayed in ) Went and bought washing powder to clean our own but then having to try and dry them because there isn’t an electric dryer or an outside clothes line . Just an indoor maiden.

It’s our second time staying here and we’ll definitely be coming back.

The cottage is lovely… we had a wonderful stay and overall the cleanliness of the property is good.

However, there is a mould issue in the bathroom and the bedroom directly next to the bathroom smelt of mould. All the drawers are very flimsy and poor quality making me reserved to use them. There is limited crockery and cutlery so we used the dishwasher constantly- not an issue but a few more plates etc would help. We loved the holiday and would definitely come back but a little TLC would be advised.

We had a wonderful stay the location was perfect, a short walking distance to the sea and we travelled by train to Barmouth which was only 10 minutes away.

The staff were helpful and friendly. I was slightly worried after reading some of the reviews but our experience was as follows, the beds were comfy slept really well. Extractor fans do work, there is a gate on the property, it is not possible for people to see you in the shower from outside. We loved the living upside down, the pool table and hot tub were great! Other comments not criticisms is that there is not a bbq so the listing needs to be updated and a few more plates and a new frying pan would be good. We were spoilt with the weather, a beautiful place we would love to return.

Beautiful cottage.

Really enjoyed our stay. We love Barmouth. A few negatives, beds are very uncomfortable, pillows are also poor. Also we found only 1 bathroom for six adults was a bit of a struggle in a morning getting ready, especially with no ventilation, extractor fan not working during our stay. Also beware anyone walking past the cottage can look directly into the bathroom right into the shower

The Barn itself is very nice the hottub is great the only negative is the front entrance isn’t very private no gate closing it off so people walking past can see you if your in the hottub or sitting outside well equipped kitchen comfortable sofa very nice Big letdown on the beds….

. very uncomfortable felt the springs probably the most uncomfortable I’ve experienced such a shame pillows were flimsy some investment needs to be made on mattresses for that reason we wouldn’t return

Loved the home and area great family stay for a mostly adult family

Lovely place and great location, A shame the hot tub and swimming pool nearby weren’t operating but a deduction was made off our payment.

A couple of minor repairs need doing but a great place to stay and we will look to come back here soon.

Excellent stay, all you needed required.

Facilities were perfect. Beds very comfortable. Great pool table and hot tub and really enjoyed the upside down living in a great location, beautiful beaches and great walks.

The Barns is a beautiful property in a fab location walking distance to the beach and within 10 minutes drive to Barmouth.

Spotlessly clean and well appointed. Grandchildren loved the pool table and the hotub was lovely. Would definitely recommend and would love another holiday at this property.

The property was spacious.

We are a family of six adults and we never felt as though we were on top of each other. We require liked the open plan design upstairs and of course the pool table was a big hit. The barn was well equipped and everything was clean, fresh and comfortable. Thoughtful welcome gift of milk, butter, bread and cake. The only thing that would have been helpful is a larger fridge to accommodate the size of the property and more than 6 of each cutlery and crockery item. We loved our stay in the Barn.

The Barn was a great property to stay, everything we needed.

The Toaster would not work so made a phone call to the manager and a replacement was delivered within 30 min, many thanks. The noise from the camp sites was ZERO. Would return for another holiday no problem. Thanks again Pete from Somerset

Beautiful place.

The satnav took us straight there. There was a slight issue with the freezer and fridge ( they were switched off at the plug , but no welcome pack or guide to inform us of this ). We called the main reception in 5 minutes we had a knock at the door and the issue was fixed. Very nice , privacy shades on the hot tub are really handy. All the rooms were beautifully made up and the linens were pristine. For a house sleeps six more utensils/crockery is needed , otherwise brilliant. Big 4K TV in living room. Fab TV in bedrooms , all smart for streaming good picture otherwise. Fab walk to beach , lovely little shop en route to beach. Great for the pooch. Pool table nice touch. Very handy. Beautifully decorated. Would return and recommend. Just wished wed explored more.

Lovely property, with extras like hot tub and pool table which were very welcome as the weather was mixed.

The location to the beach and train station was ideal. Things that could be improved are, more plates and cutlery as only 6 items of each. There were only 3 of the smaller plates. No egg cups. Also the lock on the outer gate is broken. There were no instructions in the welcome pack to say what to do with recycling, what to do with bedding/towels when we left, no list of useful phone numbers which we normally see in other properties we have stayed in. In fact the welcome pack only contained details of the caravan site the barn was situated on. None of the above detracted from a nice holiday.

We had a lovely stay here in between Christmas and New Year.

The property is very spacious and it has everything you need. We thought the pool table was a great touch and we loved the hot tub. WiFi is excellent and access to Netflix and Prime was great. We visited during a quiet period but I can imagine privacy being an issue at busier times. When we weren’t in the hot tub we were strolling on the beach with the dog, which is just a few minutes walk. We discovered the on-site shop and arcades were open, which we were led to believe would be closed at this time of year so that was handy. We had a really lovely time and would love to come back.

This is a beautiful property in a lovely area shop bar fish and chips all a very short walk away pool was great lovely and warm hot tub was fantastic.

The property has everything you need and more for a wonderful stay the staff were extremely friendly and very helpful with anything we needed definitely recommend and will most definitely be returning
