Gelli Bach at Gelli Las

My little dog and I had a fabulous holiday at Gelli Bach.

If you like peace, quiet and seclusion then this is the place for you. I absolutely loved it. No need to use the car as there are plenty of lovely walks to be had straight from the property. I hope to return soon.

Easy access to beaches. Cottage well equipped

Gelli Bach is a cute & comfortable little barn conversion in a very peaceful location.

The garden is surrounded by woods and fields that you're free to explore, and you can just make out the sea in the distance between the trees. I get the impression that the main house in front of the cottage is rarely used and it was unoccupied during our stay which made it even more private. The location is excellent as the village is a short (steep) walk away and there's good food available at the pub. There are plenty of stunning beaches a short distance away, and many other attractions like Harlech Castle and Portmeirion to explore. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Gelli Bach and would definitely recommend it.

Gelli bach is a perfect gem of a place.

Me and my dog, Jess loved every minute. It was warm, comfortable and clean. There was enough crockery and kitchen utensils, a selection of books and games and a TV with great wi-fi. Parking is a short way away from the front door and there is a steepish grassy slope to walk up which could be slippery in wet weather. Good shoes or wellies are required though the grass was well maintained and cut short. The drive up to the property was a bit nerve wracking the first time you do it (steep and narrow with a steep drop one side) but ok once you have your bearings. The surrounding woods and fields are amazing with beautiful walks right from your door. As a lone traveller I did wonder if it's remoteness may worry me, but it seriously didn't. I felt totally safe and peaceful. The barn is situated behind the main house (which wasn't occupied when I was there) so doesn't have a view of the bay, but the surrounding woods and gardens are view enough. Totally blissful place to stay and I'll definitely return in the future.

We have just had a week at Gelli Bach and it was fabulous.

Very peaceful, quiet and relaxing stay. The little house is at the top of a hill is away from it all, very comfortable and cosy and with it's amazing land to explore....walks in all directions. The village a couple of minutes drive at the bottom of the hill with all the basics that you would need , a lovely pub called the Victoria...really nice food, a small shop and a cafe selling great ice creams. We aim to return.

Beautifully cosy barn just perfect for two and our dog.

The location is fabulous with so much space around to walk straight from the front door and only a short drive to some beautiful beaches. The two pubs in the village are both dog friendly and did very tasty food. This property has gone on my favourites list and we will certainly return

A great base to explore the countryside, very quiet and peaceful.

A compact Cottage, set in a lovely situation.

The cottage itself is comfortable . It would benefit from some drawers in the bedroom as the cupboard is difficult to access. The kitchen was let down by the only frying pan being very scratched and unusable (we had to buy our own).

The owner and neighbour were extremely helpful with an issue we had on our arrival - thank you.

The cottage had everything we needed for an escape to the great outdoors. As the owners of a very anxious dog, the setting was just perfect. Having free access to the fields was fabulous and there were so many local walks from the doorstep. We would certainly go back in the future.

This is a great stay for peace and quiet and for those who enjoy plenty of walking.

We did quite a lot of walking whilst there. It is well away from the main road too which suited us.

Gelli Bach at Gelli Las was absolutely amazing.

We will definitely be going back. The quaint little cottage is set in idyllic grounds with the most amazing views. It has everything you need and a very comfortable living space. The weather was just the perfect temperature to be able to explore the vast land and woods that was literally on our doorstep. The waterfalls were beautiful, the 2 mile walk was lovely but you do need to be good on your feet due to a little bit on the rocky/slippy side in places. We went to The left of Barmouth beach with Loki dog. He loved it, first time on the beach and in the sea. Shell Island could be seen from the cottage (that's how high up we were). We sat outside in the peace and quiet reading (and drinking) and literally switched off from our busy lives. This has to be the most relaxing retreat we have been too. We are looking forward to going again. Thank you Gelli Bach for having us

Very comfortable cottage in a quiet area with nice walks nearby,which is handy for anyone bringing their dog.

Good food served in the hotels in the village, and i would recommend this stay to family and friends.

Perfect little cottage for a quiet, relaxing break.

Everything I needed , such a peaceful spot. The approach probably isn’t for everyone in the winter, but for anyone who likes remote spaces away from the hub-bub of daily life that would not be an issue.

A piece of Welsh heaven!

The cottage was lovely: cosy, comfortable, clean, and completely perfect for our stay. Charming location, nice bed, comfy sofa, and a well-equipped kitchen; everything was exactly as we’d hoped. In particular, my wife and I appreciated the little personal touches. The weather was predictably a bit wild at times, but it’s all part of the fun in this neck of the woods! It was a great base from which to drive to the mountains and to the beach, and the local pub (The Victoria) was definitely a welcome watering hole after walks! The host was incredibly helpful and responsive, both beforehand and during our stay. Overall it really was an excellent bolthole, and we’re thoroughly looking forward to hopefully coming back soon! We couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

We had a lovely stay over NY - Perfect cosy cottage for a couple and a dog.

Location was superb, very close to amenities if required by a short drive to the local towns, but also out the way within the hills so were not disturbed by any unwanted noise. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

The good points to this cottage are the area around is a stunning place to stay even over the Christmas period there are things to see and enjoy and places to visit too and people are friendly.

The cottage is very quaint but had ample space for two people and a furry friend to relax in. It contained everything you would need on your stay and if you are worried that it would be cold there over the winter months there is plenty of heating and hot water available all the time. The WiFi was great and the smart TV was perfect. The negatives for us were on first appearance the cottage seemed very clean but unfortunately on closer inspection some areas of concern was the mice droppings in the kitchen area by the toaster which we decided not to use and by the bins and over the flooring generally by the skirting boards. So we had to put all our food etc into the plate cupboard as there wasn't really anywhere else to store it as the shelves were open style and not ideal to leave any food that could be nibbles at on nor the work tops. As it was Xmas time we had brought along extra treats of biscuits, choccies, nuts and crackers and other nibbles and we didn't want to find any nibbling into them so everything had to be stored away. Unfortunately it meant the first couple of hours were spent cleaning and disinfecting all the work surfaces and brushing up. Also the kitchen floor looked clean but when wiping up a drop of water the paper towel that wiped up the splash of water was really dirty and we had only been in the cottage a couple of hours. And we wore our slippers as requested by the owners and no outdoor shoes. So couldn't understand why the foot was dirty. And unfortunately the shower had someone's black body hair in places and it was the same around the sink also black hair and not really clean which was not nice to see at anytime never mind on our first day. The bedding and pillows and the towels were very clean and smelled really fresh. The sofa wasn't the comfiest to sit on for long periods and as the weather wasn't too good and I had a broken foot we stayed indoors a lot longer than we would normally do so we probably noticed it more as we say on it for longer periods. And it could have done with a couple more plump cushions to lean on ( but that's just an us thing) And the final negative has to be the bed itself....the mattress was the most uncomfortable thing to sleep on as you sank right into it....literally and not in a good way it seemed to sink in the more in the middle you got so kept waking up with more aches as each night passed and the mattress was lower than the frame of the bed so you had to juggle to get onto the mattress without sitting on the frame as you got into bed which was odd. We personally feel that the mattress needs to be replaced or even to put a firmer topper on the mattress at least an option of one. And for these reasons we wouldn't likely return for another stay. Also to note that it is very wet and slippery getting up and around on foot to the cottage and the steps upto the side of the cottage and our onto the field at the rear are very slimy and slippery and we had to put the out door chairs and table against them so our dog wouldn't climb up them and the paving right outside the front door was very slippy too. We are sure this is just a winter time hazard but we think it needs customers to be made aware of if visiting over the damper months.

Thanks for another lovely week at Gelli Bach it's such a peaceful place to stay, but not too far to walk down to Llanbedr.

The walks in the area are fantastic and a good selection of great beaches to choose from. Very comfortable cottage with everything you need, I think our Dog is looking forward to the rest when she gets home!! Looking forward to visiting again Mick and Marie

Lovely cottage to get away from it all.

Drive up to cottage not for everyone! No live TV but this was not a problem for us . Have been coming to this part of Wales since children and it doesn't change still beautiful scenery. Lovely walks from cottage.

We had the most amazing stay at Gelli Bach over the Easter weekend.

The weather was perfect, with the sun shining the entire long weekend. The accomodation is perfectly secluded and allowed us to switch off from the rest of the world. We also found it to be well appointed and comfortable for our stay. We are looking forward to coming back when we get the chance!

Had an absolutely lovely 2 weeks up at Gelli Bach.

It was a really lovely and peaceful place to stay. As we are long-distance hikers, the location was perfect, with fantastic walks straight from your doorstep. Our dog loved it, too! I think the other negative reviews about the distance of the walk-up to the property are a little unfair as it's not that far! (You probably walk further from your car into Tesco's!) Our only 'personal' criticism is how close Gelli Bach actually is to the main house. However!!! On our visit, it was empty, so there was no drama! Worth checking, though, before booking if you're after a secluded retreat. Also, I think the 'drying room' is a work in progress! After hiking mountains in the Welsh winter weather, that room isn't drying anything, making it a little awkward when you don't want outdoor gear within the Gelli Bach, which we respect. Thank you for a lovely holiday and the cosy accommodation. P.s. The Welsh cakes and wine were also a nice touch!

The cottage was in an idyllic position but not for elderly who may struggle with walking and carrying luggage from car park to cottage.

Sofa is very used and this means there is no firmness to seating, if you struggle getting up and out of sofa’s then you will struggle, dining chairs were just as uncomfortable due to having to sit on them longer than the sofa. Lovely walks at the back of cottage and the waterfalls are a must to see. The local pubs in village were very friendly and served good wholesome food at reasonable prices. Would recommend this cottage which was exceptionally clean, loved the Honey, Welsh cakes and milk.

What a perfect retreat to get away from the hussle & bussle of city and town life.

The cottage was cosy and had all the amenities that we required even a storage shed for our bikes. Outside was with lush lawn and nice outlook and walk up to behind the cottage the view was superb taking in the coast line and mountain peaks in the distance. There was so much to do in our time specially with Harlech and Barmouth close by and with plenty of scenic walks straight from the cottage. All in all we had a smashing week plus of course not forgetting the glorious weather. Arthur & Ñorma.

Couldn't fault it. We really enjoyed our stay. Owner was very helpful, would definitely return. Jar of honey and welshcakes was a pleasant surprise, thank you!

Like others have mentioned the garden bench needs replacing which the owner has said will be done but hasn’t yet been replaced and more comfortable/ larger patio set would be of a benefit.

The main issue we had was the fact that the garden to the barn is not enclosed and the big house is so close. Unfortunately we have a dog that is not dog friendly so on the last day we had to stay indoors as the other guests had two dogs and as the gardens are joined we could not use the garden. This needs to be mentioned as others with the same issue need to be aware when booking.If we knew this was the case we would have booked somewhere else. Luckily the other guests only arrived two nights before we left but it would have been a big problem for us if they were there all week.

The cottage is lovely and the location is perfect.

The sofa which is the only place to sit apart from the kitchen chairs is very uncomfortable and I think could benefit from a replacement. A new bench in the garden would be nice as it is very wobbly !! Would definitely recommend and would very much like to return next year.

Perfect little cottage in idyllic surroundings.

The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. There was adequate space for our dog's crate, and for her to run around in the private garden area, where we enjoyed the afternoon sun. There were some lovely walks from the doorstep, the Victoria Inn in Llanbedr had great food and atmosphere, and we made trips to Porthmadog, Barmouth and Harlech. A couple of points could have made it even better - the sofa and outdoor seating were a bit uncomfortable, more essentials (toilet roll/bin bags) could have been supplied. But these were minor, and overall we had a wonderful time - thank you.

We had the most relaxing holiday the location is amazing and the outdoor space for the dog brilliant.

The cottage was perfect warm and comfortable the local butcher at the spa was great and a co-op about 15 mins drive away. Ourselves and the dog loved the early afternoon walks along the beech with his ball as the tide was going out free parking for the beech about a 10 min drive from the cottage. The Victoria inn is a lovely pub with a nice garden and dog friendly. Loads of walks through the fields of the cottage or down the drive and off to the waterfalls about 25-30 min walk away. My only niggle is the kitchen knives were blunt and there was no sharpener. I put this as information for the owner only. Our stay was 10/10 and we will definitely be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gelli Bach which was a most delightful cottage in the perfect spot for spectacular mountain, beach or forest walks from the doorstep.

It was comfortable and pretty and all our needs were met; we will definitely be returning.

We had a really relaxing weekend away from the Fireworks!

We will definitely be back! the location was perfect, Ruby (our Irish Setter) loved the huge back garden. It rained the majority of the weekend so we spent more time in the property than expected but we were nice and toasty. The couch could be a bit more comfy, but if the weather had been better we wouldn't have spent so much time sitting on it! The flowers and chocolates were a lovely touch. Can wait to visit again! xx

Lovely property but wasn't expecting it to be so close to the other property.

Location was lovely though. When we arrived we had a cute gift and photo of the property. Everything was lovely apart from the fact the place was covered in black dog hair. We have a dog anyway so wasn't much of an issue. Electrics cut off but owner was extremely helpful to get it sorted quick. Would stay again!

A practically perfect cottage.

Everything we look for in a place to stay, secluded, tranquil yet amenities a short drive or walk away. Lovely hosts. Would definitely stay again.

The cottage is in a fantastic location in the hills above Llanbedr very peaceful but very easy to get to pubs, beaches and mountains.

We had a lovely time at Gelli Bach….

The stay was really poignant as i spent most of my childhood summers at the main house, then owned by my grandparents. We were fortunate with the weather and the cottage had everything we needed.. Set below the Rhinog mountains, the area is slightly often the Snowdonia beaten track but the scenery remains stunning with far fewer visitors than Snowdon and surrounds.. The owners couldn’t have made us feel more welcome and we would look to return..

Beautiful location and loverly converted barn.

There were lambs in the field and bluebells like a carpet in the woods surrounding the house and apart from that nothing, but peace and quiet. The barn was immaculate with lots of little touches like fresh flowers from the garden, really good quality bathroom products, the basics for cooking and enough equipment so you actually could (this is often overlooked) including spare water bottles. It's the little things that make the difference and give a place character. The walks and scenery in the surrounding areas can be easy or challenging but with mountains and beautiful beaches, upon our return we immediately booked again for next year as there were so many walks we wanted to do but simply ran out of time. Would definitely recommend and so would our pooch.

Amazing place first time in Wales was a great place to stay warm cosy and dog friendly, owners were so accommodating.

Spent seeing in the new year in a field with Jack the Labrador caught sight of fireworks was perfect was just as we hoped it would be and more.

The cottage was in a lovely location nice and peaceful with plenty of walks around the area.

The local village was great and the Victoria pub was fab . Dottie our dog had a fab time to .

The cottage was very clean, cosy, comfortable & decorated to high standards.

The drying room was great for keeping our coats & boots in. It's situated in a beautiful spot & there were plenty of walks straight from the door. Also plenty of places to visit without too much driving. We really enjoyed our holiday week & would love to stay there again. We will be recommending the cottage to our family & friends.

I knew the area well before booking so I knew how stunning the location would be, and was not disappointed.

My only concern was the cottage details said there was a microwave and there wasn’t. We managed but we had brought quite a lot of pre-cooked meals so it would have been useful. Also the hot water in the bathroom sink upstairs did not work. A teapot would also have been useful

Small cosy cottage, perfect for 2 . Dog was in heaven Very quiet and peaceful yet within easy walking distance of pubs and good food. Beaches are within a very short drive. Couldn’t have asked for more.

So nice and quiet set on the owners land with footpaths running off it. Cottage had everything we needed, decorated tastefully and the comfiest bed!
