This is a lovely well equipped cottage, with beautiful views and surrounding countryside.

It completely met our needs and we had a wonderful stay. Woukd highly recommend.

The cottage is in a lovely secluded area, we had a good time and enjoyed walking our dog in the area.

Barmouth and Harlech are nearby and it is ideal for getting to other places in the Snowdonia area. Thanks for the wonderful cake, it was a nice thought.

It’s a very quiet and peaceful place, and the fireplace is absolutely wonderful. A big thank you to the hostess for the delicious cake that was waiting for us in the cottage when we arrived — it was such a lovely and thoughtful surprise, and very tasty. The cottage was perfect for us and the little dog.

Absolutly quiet and perfect calm area. Just what we wanted and were looking for, in the middle of nowhere but easy access to somewhere. The cottage is in very need of refurbishment. The mattresses are outdated and when one turned the other were jumping, as well after a week our back were hurting. Don't know how it works out if you are with 4 person as e.g. the hot water of the shower last only for 1 and then the 2nd has to wait half a day for its shower. Some spiderweb and dust all over and none of the doorlocks were working either. The main door nor utility room door. The owner (or son) tried to look at the locks, but said its like weeks/months not working and couldn't and didn't solve the problem. I would go there again this year if all issues been solved as it is exactly what we were looking for between xmas and after new year.

Booked last minute and had a really nice time, there's plenty of walks from the property and it was nice to come back to a proper log fire, it was clean and tidy, everything was in working order, the postcode takes you further up the road but if you get in touch with the host, she will direct you.

We found her to be very helpful and we appreciated it.

The is a little gem.

Close enough to small or larger towns but also a great place to hid away and relax. Harlech isn’t far so l had plenty of time to practice my Welsh with some very very patient locals

Beautifully warm and well equipped cottage.

The kitchen had everything we needed, bed was very comfortable, great shower and Mrs Hughes left us a lovely welcoming cake which was a very nice touch. Plenty of space for drying wet walking gear too. Maybe some info in the cottage about nearest supermarkets etc would be helpful but in reality we can get all this information from our phones these days and it's actually quite refreshing not to be bombarded with notices and to be able to just knock on and ask if we needed to know anything. Just a really chilled pleasant stay. Would definitely return

Lovely cosy little cottage.

On the basic side but everything was covered. Comfortable bed and sofa. Owners helpful but not intrusive. Lovely homemade cake and milk on arrival. Beautiful setting but 3 mile drive on single track lane to access. Huge field for dogs to stretch their legs. I only gave 4 stars for listing because tea towels ARE provided and logs are FREE. We will go back.

I would recommend the cottage for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy nature.

The cottage was lovely and quaint, having the log burner(with wood supplied) was a god send!

The owners left us a large home made cake which was delicious and lasted all week. The owners left us welcomed us warmly and despite only being next door did not intrude on us, though had we of needed them I know they would have been happy to help.

Perfect for a week of views,nature,quietness and comfort and perfect for our labrador. The cottage,had everything we needed and lots of thoughtful items provided (if forgotten anything on your travels.)It was so comfortable and clean and the log fire was idyllic on a rainy day. We had a lovely welcome from the owners who are so friendly. The views and surrounding was so beautiful and peaceful and perfect for our dog to have a daily run,and enclosed which was brilliant.Would definitely recommend a stay and we will return. A fantastic week to recharge and escape. Thank you

My 18 year old and I had a wonderful 2 night stay here in March 2025.

Simple but cosy decor and everything provided that you could possibly need. Perfectly secluded - could only hear birds and the river and the occasional sheep. The cake and milk provided were a lovely touch. Please be aware it is VERY rural with very narrow walled lanes for about 3 miles (which took us 10 minutes to drive hoping we wouldn't meet anyone else!) but absolutely worth it for the total sense of relaxation when you get there. We didn't want to leave and we're hoping to go back. The area is spectacular.

One of my best holidays ever, if you want peace and quiet in a wonderful place and in a beautiful setting.

What a wonderful find this was - within 2 miles of Cym Buchan and alongside the river.

We had another excellent stay at Y Bwthyn the property is really good and the Owner is also very welcoming we once again had a wonderful homemade cake and fresh milk to welcome us.

Lovely welcome and a surprise delicious sponge cake awaited us in the spotless cottage which was very well equipped and topped off by log burning fire.A 2nd visit definately planned.

Feels like you're in the middle of no where but only 3 miles from nearest pub and small shop. Lots of walking opportunities . Welcomed with a deliscious home made cake too.

This place is unique.

The house is very cozy. nothing is missing in it. a delicious welcome cake. The windows offer a view of the mountains, an hour's walk to the sea. These 2 weeks were the best break from the city. I recommend it wholeheartedly. We will definitely come back here

Hughes, was very welcoming and had baked a cake for us and supplied milk in the fridge. The property is situated 3 miles from Llanbedr down a single track road with passing places; a little daunting at first but, if driven sensibly, not so bad. Technophiles will be disappointed with the lack of both a mobile signal and poor Wi-Fi connection but if you are trying to escape the ratrace, what better place?

Mrs Hughes made us feel welcome from day one nothing was too much trouble and the surprise of a wonderful cake and bottle of milk, tea, coffee, sugar on arrival was much appreciated.

The cottage is truly wonderful set in the valley with lovely walks on your doorstep. We would definitely recommend it so its 5 star's from us

Really nice home in a wonderful location, where you can stay off the beaten track, wander round quiet villages or play in a modern seaside town.

The cottage has everything you could need, is very homely and is a perfect base for this part of Wales.

Lovely peaceful off grid holiday cottage.

My advice to visitors would be when you drive out of the village down the tiny county road when that feeling of' I must have missed it were lost ' keep driving ! It is very remote but worth it.

Our 2nd holiday at this property ,2 years running says it all with next years holiday booked already.

A beautiful cottage in the most wonderful hidden part of remote North Wales . Mr and Mrs Hughes present this cottage to a very high standard . We could write a book on the whole experience of this place, it is a simply stunning part of the world . We wouldnt change anything .

The cottage was brilliant , everything you required ideal for dogs and Mrs Hughes cake was scrummy also provided extra things like tea bags coffee milk etc.

the only improvement could be is directions down the lane perhaps mention going past the campsite , we.had a fantastic holiday would come there again .

The cottage was perfect, it had everything we required, in an awesome location with fantastic views all around us. The dark skies at night were something else. There were plenty of places to visit, great beaches and plenty of walks. All in all we had a brilliant time, would really recommend the cottage and we will be staying again for sure.

This was an absolutely amazing holiday.

The cottage had everything you needed and a lovely country setting. The owners were kind and left us to get on with our holiday. Even though we have been back for 2 weeks the happy memories are fresh in our minds.

The property is perfect, as is the owner.

What I find annoying, and this has happened several years in a row, is that as soon as I rebook you send me an offer for so much off which cannot be applied retrospectively. It would be much better if the offer was made immediately after the current booking.

I booked the cottage for my parents, both in their late 80s, who enjoyed a lovely relaxing week.

The location was so peaceful and in a beautiful river valley but also close to the coast. the only issues they had were doors that were difficult to close or did not close correctly and no private outdoor space to sit in. These were only minor things and did not spoil the holiday in any way.

We loved it.

Perfect location, peaceful and stunning scenery. We slept so well. Well equipped, it had everything we needed.

What a wonderful place to have a break, so warm, comfortable and very quiet with beautiful scenery to wake up to.

Mrs Hughes left us a cake, milk, tea etc which was much appreciated as we were late arriving. So much to see in the area. We will definitely be back.

The location and views from the cottage were as stunning as expected.

Found it with ease even though quite remote. As advised phone signal was non-existant, not that it mattered, although able to connect to cottage wi-fi for internet connection. A lovely homemade cake awaited us. The beds were extremely comfortable, as were the reclining chairs. The only thing which let the stay down was the fact that we could not use the log fire, which we were so looking forward to. The door is broken and yet to be fixed. A great weekend with trips to Barmouth, Harlech, Beddgelert and the fascinating Osprey centre. The eggs are due to hatch in late May, so definitely worth a visit then.

The cottage was lovely clean and everything you needed for a lovely week exploring the area it was beautiful sunny weather for the whole week.

..Mrs Hughes had made a lovely sponge cake on our arrival. Mrs Hughes and her husband always chatted if they saw us . We will definitely stay there again our 3 dogs loved their holiday too❤

We loved the accomodation and particularly the stunning location.

The host is very welcoming and had baked a cake and provided a few essentials such as tea, coffee, milk.WiFi was very patchy. A great place to stay overall and we would definitely return.

Lovely cottage, very clean, very comfy beds and very warm. (Log burner not working, but plenty of heaters available if needed). Brilliant utility room for the dog! Great hosts and gorgeous cake on arrival. The cottage is in a beautiful location and the walking is fantastic. Only point to note is that Wi-Fi is quite patchy and intermittent and much better in one of the upstairs bedrooms. We will definitely return. A lovely find!

It was very nice to meet Mrs. Hughes and thank her for her lovely cakes. Nice to know that someone was next door and yet still retaining our privacy. The only really down side of the property was the log burner not working properly.

8 September no electricity due to a previous fault and works being carried out No Wifi in the cottage, also due to a previous storm Television was not up to standard, not receiving all channels and poor reception Cottage was very sparse, but were told that all nick nacks had to be removed due to Covid 19, looked very bare Very remote and road very narrow to the cottage We expected a working farm and were very disappointed that there were just a few sheep grazing now and again near the cottage Did not get to meet the owner, who was not even living on the premises Beds not very comfortable, mattresses to thin

This cottage suited us perfectly, with everything we needed.

Mrs Hughes contacted ahead of our holiday to let us know of a couple of issues which didn't affect us anyway. Cottage had everything we needed with the exception of a landline phone - there is no signal, and with the WiFi out of action if we needed to be contacted there was no way to do so.

Amazing holiday.

Cottage is stunning and so comfortable. We were greeted with a delicious cake and the cottage was immaculate. Didn't want to come home. 3 miles to nearest pub and shop and around 10 miles from barmouth town. Narrow country lanes but that didn't bother us. Would highly recommend

The cottage was gorgeous, clean, had everything you would need, washing up liquid, tea towels, tea bags, sugar, coffee and Mrs Hughes made a fantastic Victoria sponge cake she also left us milk in the fridge.

She also left us 2 bottles of water. As it was very hot we had to go and buy a lot more water, we were surprised that the water came from a well,and of course you couldn’t drink it.So we had to buy rather a lot as we had 3 small dogs. Even though the directions were good we missed the Cottages’s we were looking for the name “Y Bwthyn”and ended up at the Roman Steps!!! We turned back and it was hard to find as the cottage had no name, only recognised by the picture on my phone. We did have trouble with the shower very intermittent and the single track road was a bit scary to start with, but loved the cottage.

Fantastic location surrounded by stunning scenery.

Cottage was very well equipped and spacious. The cake upon arrival was an added bonus & went down very well, thank you!. Owners son very friendly & helpful. Unfortunately there were also some negatives which would prevent a return visit - firstly the level of cleanliness was not good; at first glance it's fine but look a little closer & you realise a proper clean is overdue. Secondly, the mattresses are of a poor quality & difficult to get conformable on. Finally the front door lock needs fixing & therefore didn't get used

Excellent place to stay, very comfortable, home from home. Great location with easy access to anywhere in North Wales. Already booked our 3rd visit for our 2020 holiday :)

This is a great cottage in the heart of the hills above Harlech. The river is wonderful, walking fantastic the peace and quiet perfect

This is a wonderful holiday cottage.

Excellently kitted out, clean, and tidy. It has a lovely wood burner fire and there are electric storage heaters in the living room and bedrooms. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The location is in the beautiful Arto valley surrounded by rugged mountains with spectacular views. We have stayed at Y Bwythyn three years in succession.

We had a magical few days.

A warm welcome with a fantastic homemade Victoria sponge cake. Cottage was great. But the magic is that this has to be the best of real Wales. The road from Llanbedr to Cym Buchan is beyond compare, antient Welsh Oak trees, the river, the brooding mountains. Great walking country. In Autumn the colours were amazing. I recommend that you stay here and enjoy.

This was our second visit to Y Bwthyn, we enjoyed our stay so much last year that we returned for another early Autumn break this year too.

It's a real home from home, very well equipped and cosy. we had 3 storms blow through while we were there, but the double glazing and wood burner ensured we were cosy and warm. The remote location provided all the peace and quiet, and beautiful scenery which make for a very relaxing time. Mrs Hughes, the owner, is very friendly, welcoming and helpful, ensuring we had everything we needed. I'm sure we'll be back for a 3rd visit!

Peace and tranquility, roads are very narrow leading up the mountain to the cottage, dog friendly beaches near by.

A beautifully situated cottage and well equipped.

Only book this cottage if you have a confident driver who doesn't mind reversing in narrow roads.

The cottage was so well equipped, we had everything we expected and needed and more.

The cottage was clean and spacious and the owners made us feel welcome and at home immediately. We were also left with tea, coffee, milk, eggs and a home made cake. We couldn’t have asked for more and have already booked up for next year.

When we arrived the shower did not work.

The cottage is remote so there was no mobile signal. The following day the owners were called, and as promised the shower was working when we returned. However, to obtain even warm water the flow was little more than a drip. The owner should invest in a shower unit that works. The bath water delivered was of a rustic colour. Probably no big deal but not what most travellers will be used to. Also the volume of hot water was insufficient for the three of us to have a bath without a considerable wait. Come on Mrs Hughes, this is 2018. Put your hand in your pocket and provide a decent supply of hot water via both shower and bath.

Very well kitted out with everything you need. It is warm and cosy and comfortable. The owners are very helpful and friendly. The location is wonderful.

Wow, what can we say about this beautiful place.

Set in the breathe taking mountains on a working sheep and cattle farm. You can hear the river which is just across the road from the cottage. The cottage it’s self is very quaint, has everything you need, you have to get is food. Only qualm is the double bed was a bit hard for us but that is a personal preference. The family who own the place are very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The homemade cake that was left for us was delicious. The walks in the local area are stunning. Will will definitely return for another stay.

Fantastic hill farm cottage in beautifull scenic valley.

Isolated bliss with all mod cons. Inc. Wi-fi. Lovely walks yet 5mins to civilization by car. Will definitely go again.

Cottage had everything we needed. Slow cooker microwave washer etc. Very clean and comfortable. Thank you Mrs and Mr Hughes. And the Cake was great.

We had a brilliant few days at accommodation.

We had to cut short our stay because of serious illness of a close friend who is not "close family" as specified in your insurance. We do hope to book this accommodation again with yourselves.
