Pen Y Bont

I’ve been going to Aberdaron for years, so I knew the location of this property and often thought how nice it’d be to stay in it.

It didn’t disappoint, the location is perfect, the Spar is a bit too convenient, and everything you could want in Aberdaron is right there. We’re booked in for next year and cannot wait to go back.

We have been coming back to Pen Y Bont for years and it is still perfect for what we need.

1 minute walk to the beach, local shops and pubs are very convenient without causing any impact on your stay. The house is a good size and has a very well stocked kitchen. Handy having a second fridge in the utility and then an additional fridge and chest freezer in the garage/pool room. We've already booked for next year again.

A great place for a holiday .

Pen Y Bont is extremely well looked after and is in such a handy spot for "old dodderers" like ourselves . It is spotless and almost seems to have been painted inside every time we visit . Aberdaron is a little further than some holiday venues but is worth the extra few miles.

Pictures make cottage look bigger in side Cottage in great location Rooms tiny kitchen is a small galley kitchen no dishwasher on site.

Couches hard and not comfortable beds small as rooms tiny no room for bags suitcases Loft room dangerous low wife hit her head hard trying to close blind Shower is dangerous as temperature changes constantly gets hit then cold couldn’t put a child in the shower safely.

Pen Y Bont is a lovely cottage, ideally situated for all the amenities of Aberdaron.

With beautiful coastal paths from the door we never used the car during our weeks stay. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and well equiped. I would have preferred a dish washer in place of one of the fridges, that's my personnel choise not a criticism. Even though it is located in the centre of the village we found it quiet with a lovely private peaceful rear garden/patio...just wish the the weather had been warmer so we could have appreciated it more. We would definitely stay in Pen Y Bont again.

Love Aberdaron , and "Talybont " is very central to everything .

also its a bungalow with an upstairs bedroom if reqd. and as i am somewhat disabled and find difficulty in climbing stairs is ideal for us . Right opposite the shop its also ideal for shopping etc.Cannot fault either Aberdaron or "Talybont " thats why we have booked again in July .

Very comfortable and clean accommodation in a picturesque and welcoming village.

Pen y Bont is perfectly located in Aberdaron in close proximity to the beach, pubs, cafes and shops. It was a pleasure to be able to speak Welsh in most of the shops, hotels and cafes in the area.

More lower level lamps in longe dining area would have created a cosier atmosphere at night.

Only ceiling and wall lamps provided so a bit harsh. Had to use a bedroom lamp whilst there. Recycling rubbish arrangements quite complicated for guests. Hand towel in bathroom for general use. More toilet rolls/kitchen rolls provided in-house would be useful. Map of Lleyn peninsular framed on wall would be useful. Otherwise all fine. One guest is an experienced cottage user all over UK so these suggestions are from her view.

Perfect accommodation 2 minute walk to the beach, 1 minute walk to the pub with excellent food and drink, Shop for supplies right opposite the accommodation.

Lovely accommodation clean and tidy everything we needed and more.

Lovely enclosed garden for our dog. And Aberdaron is a lovely coastal village with lots of amenities. Will definitely be back in the future.

A nicely furnished, homely bungalow.

The living room furniture and bed was very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. We enjoyed sitting on the enclosed patio in the afternoon, a lovely clean sun-trap. The property served our needs of walking the Wales Coast Path very well with the footpath passing the front door and a bus stop located right outside the front wall. The village is quaint with numerous eateries and a well-stocked shop across the road. We enjoyed our stay at Penybont. Many thanks for the goodies in the welcome pack. Diolch yn fawr!

A perfect property in a perfect location.

Lounge/dinner nicely laid out, the only minor problem in this area was difficulty in shutting the inner front door. I never viewed upstairs as I was not using. The rest of the building was perfect. Downstairs double bed, which I used was very comfortable. Kitchen was well appointed, I didn't use much. Large shower in bathroom. Amenities nearby were great, small Spar opposite along with post box and cash point. Small way up the hill is a bakery, Just across the bridge is fish and chips. Lunch time cafe, two pubs etc.

We love this house, it's perfect location and distance to the beach.

Shops and pubs very close by but never any issues with noise or people. Some bits of the house are in need of a bit of tlc. Bathroom taps could probably be replaced and the shower floods the bathroom each time you use it and the extractor fan doesn't work. Nothing at all that would put us off returning, we've already booked for next year.

Great, centrally placed and nice, clean property and well kitted out.

Third stay in Pen Y Bont and will likely be back again, as we love Aberdaron and have been coming for over forty years.

For 6 people, another loo/wash basin would help.

Bath mat needed and possibly sharper kitchen knives But we had a great time and we may be back!

Our third holiday in Penybont which is central for all amenities in the village and a nice patio at the rear.

Very quiet too considering it is so central. Thoroughly recommend it.

We love staying at Pen Y Bont.

Aberdaron is such a wonderful, peaceful location for a holiday. Pen Y Bont is conveniently located for all the village amenities including the pubs, fish and chip shop, shop, cafes and the wonderful bakery, and for the beach and coastal walks. It is very well-equipped. This year we particularly appreciated the barbecue and, when the weather was a bit wet, the pool table.

Comfortable and homely.

The best thing about the property is the proximity to the beach which our dog loved.

It was a shame that the fish and chip shop and cafes were closed while we were there. Apart from the two pubs in the village, it is quite a drive to get anywhere so we felt a little out of the way. The property could do with some updating, particularly the bathroom. Solid doors rather than half glass ones would be preferable, as they let the light in too much. If the bathroom light was switched on during the night it shone through the bedrooms causing disturbance. The heating was good and warmed up almost instantly and we appreciated the log burner and logs provided. The kitchen could do with some baking trays, we took some with us after reading reviews before we left. We also missed having a dishwasher. The bed on the first floor is so positioned that you cannot sit up to read, have a cuppa etc. There is no mirror in the downstairs double bedroom and could not get any channels on the bedroom tv. There were no instructions left in the property regarding use of appliances and what to do at end of stay, or what recycling items went in which bin. Leaflets or guest book would be useful with tips on places to visit, eat etc. We did enjoy our stay as we had lovely weather but would probably not return to this property.

Very comfortable cottage, ideally situated in the centre of the village and its amenities.

Easy access to the beautiful beach and the many headland walks. We absolutely loved our time there. The house was clean and well equipped. The beds were comfortable and the enclosed rear garden was wonderful and a great place to sit on sunny days which we were blessed with first week in March. Pool table went down well with husband and daughters. The starry night skies were amazing. Hope to return soon.

What a great place to stay everything you need is there

This is our 3rd stay at the cottage and it is by far our favourite place.

The cottage is so warm, cosy and well equipped with everything you would need for self-catering. It is in a great location within a few minutes walk to the beach and the local hotel and bars. The Spar shop is literally on the doorstep but the cottage retains good privacy and excellent private parking at the front. We will definitely be back again.

Absolutely beautiful cottage in an amazing location.

Cosy lounge and dining area. Spotless and well equipped. Beds are comfortable and warm. We loved the patio area and the pool table was an added extra. Less than one minute to the amazing beach and two fabulous pubs with great food. Bakery, shop, fish and chips all in the village. You can hear the sea and river if you leave the windows open which I loved Loads of parking and enclosed front and back to keep dogs safe. Great communication with owner. We have already rebooked. Highly recommended

The cottage was lovely as always.

The only thing was….there was no hot water! Mr Roberts came round on Saturday, said the plumber had not switched it back on. So, I had a shower - finished - and no hot water! Mr & Mrs Roberts had gone over to Crete or Corfu - and left us with no hot water for a week! However, what with hot water from the kettle - we were fine (ish!). It doesn’t stop us from coming next year!

Our second stay this year and was every bit as good as the first.

Absolute gem of a property!

This was our second stay at Pen Y Bont and it doesn't dissapoint. Aberdaron and especially Uwchmynydd are special places to us as a family and Pen Y Bont is the perfect location for a family to explore the area! We can't wait to book again.

We love this house.

Perfect what what we want from our holiday. Amazing location, great size. Kitchen has all you need and more, this makes all the difference (a few pizza oven trays would be the cherry on top) The bathroom could do with a deep clean but nothing major. We've already booked for next year and don't see this house not being part of our holiday for the foreseeable future.

Just returned from Pen Y Bont.

Cleanliness and location were second to none. I would say the best we have ever stayed in. Owner was on hand if we needed but it was not necessary. We all enjoyed our stay, dog included. Just booked again for a short break in September. Looking forward to returning.

Overall a fabulous cottage with an ideal location.

We really enjoyed our stay and were lucky to have fabulous weather to show Aberdaron in all it's glory. The local cafes fish and chip shops and pubs were fantastic and my happy place Whistling sands was amazing. Owners were nearby if needed and very helpful. Will definitely book again, an excellent location to properly chill and relax .

This is an excellent, comfortable property, so convenient for the Spar, fish and chip shop, two fabulous pubs, serving excellent food and a short walk to the glorious beach.

A really nice , well maintained place in the middle of Aberdaron .

The home is suitable for elderly and disabled except that there is only one toilet in the whole house . The shower is great but , as it has a large base could do with a couple of grab rails for elderly /disabled folk like me. We have tried most of the rented properties in Aberdaron that accept dogs and this is by far the most suitable for ourselves . Do think though that many of these properties in Aberdaron are getting rather pricey . Looking for something in early September but cannot find one suitable yet . P.J

A comfortable and clean cottage in a great location.

Close to all the amenities in the village and just a few minutes walk from the beach. We enjoyed our stay so much we have booked it again in September.

Everything you need in the cottage including air fryer. Really comfy beds and settees. Outside space lovely with the added bonus of a pool table.

Perfectly situated in the centre of the village. I have limited mobility but the local shops, pubs and restaurants were easily accessible from the cottage. The cottage itself was perfect for our stay. Could not fault it. Will be booking again!.

Everything you could need, including the air fryer. The beds are so comfortable, such a perfect base for some beautiful walks. I would highly recommend this property. My dog loved the walks and the beach. It was our second stay there and hope to return again next year.

This was a beautiful cottage and had everything we needed.

It was a beautiful little village but I can imagine gets very busy in the summer. The logs and wine left from the owners was a lovely extra. We didn’t want to leave x

This is by far one of the best cottages we have stayed at.

It ticked all our boxes, including being very clean, comfortable and warm, with a great log burner ( generous supply of logs provided), a well equipped kitchen, great TV package, private parking and in a fantastic location in a lovely place. The beach is literally a few minutes walk away from the doorstep, as is the local Spar and a Bakery, and a very friendly hotel overlooking the bay. This was our second stay and we will definitely be back again.

We have stayed in a few Sykes cottages and this one did not disappoint .

It is very well appointed being in the middle of the village literally over the road from the spa which had absolutely everything we needed including my favourite wine ! There are all the facilities in the cottage you could need for catering for yourselves so we stayed in and cooked our own meals nearly every day . The log burner was a fabulous bonus and was easy to use . The cottage was easy to keep clean and tidy even with a dog and having direct access to the back door meant coming back from a walk on the beach we could dry the dog off before bringing him in . We used the washing machine and it even had a surer to get washing dry on and a line and pegs for summer months . The pool table was a fabulous bonus although a bit cold to be out there at night the boys enjoyed it . There was always plenty of hot water and a fabulous shower . The owners were only next door but didn’t interfere at all but came straight away when we needed some help with the heating timer. Having the bakery next door was nice for fresh bread pastries and cakes . The beach is literally a minutes walk away and even at high tide there was enough beach for my dog and his ball to run up and down . Do note that dogs are not allowed on the beach between April and September . And also the chip shop gift shops and cafes are all closed this time of year . Food is available at one of the two pubs which was very nice and also allows dogs in the front rooms. All in all a fabulous weeks stay with everything we needed . Highly recommend .

Stayed there before a few years ago and great central location.

Big improvements made to the rear garden with paving replacing loose gravel. We got lucky with the best weather of the summer and never moved from Aberdaron all week, as we love the place and the beaches. Will be very happy to stay in the property again. Peter and Olly

The best part about this property is the location as it is really convenient for shops and beach and it was clean and well maintained.

The loft bedroom is lovely and spacious with a lot of light. The negatives are - It could have done with more kitchen utensils such as a cafe tiere and some decent cups (cups big and chunky). It does have a filter coffee machine which is very outdated in this day and age. A dishwasher in this size of property is expected to maintain as this would maintain hygiene. The washing machine is old and could do with updating. The age of the property is that there is probably some damp which you could feel in the downstairs bedrooms and sitting room. The TV was difficult to work out as it is Aire TV and not straightforward. All in all it was a reasonable stay but not sure I would book again due to comfort.

Lovely cottage in a great location.

Cottage had everything we needed and only a couple of minutes walk from beach, shops and bars.

Very comfortable stay the weather was superb.

It's a cracking property with plenty of off-road parking, good interior facilities and a nice patio at the back.

It is within 200 metres of 2 bars with restaurants, a couple of cafe's, a chip shop and ice cream sellers. And the beach.

This was our 6th or 7th stay at Pen Y Bont.

We keep coming back because the location is perfect - it is literally 100 yards to the beach and if the weather is bad, what better place to watch the big waves than the covered bar terrace in the Gwesty Ty Newydd. We’ll be back!

Fantasticlocation, facilities were very good.

There was an issue with the heating/boiler which was temporarily resoved on Sunday and then fully sorted on the Monday. Owners were welcoming. Weather wasn't too bad either :-)

The cottage is beautiful, location perfect.

It is listed as having tumble dryer, which was nowhere to found, we could not use pool table, as it was covered and two old freezers in room and work going on. The bed in upstairs room, the mattress is just like sleeping on bare springs, I had to sleep on top of duvet for some padding. The downstairs bedroom TV did not work, I tried to contact owners who were away, they sent their daughter, but we didn't hear her and dogs didn't bark, so that wasn't resolved, the microwave kept blowing fuses, which we bought to replace, but gave up with that. There were no starter logs and kindle for fire, which is stated there would be. All this spoilt our much looked forward to holiday.

This is a lovely cottage in a perfect location.

It was very clean, comfortable and cosy with central heating and a very effective log burner in the living room. Situated right in the heart of the village, but set back from the road with ample parking and quite private. We loved the fact that you could walk to the beach shop, bakery and the hotel in minutes. The food from the hotel on the beach front was very good. A perfect cottage in a perfect location. We will definitely be back again.

Had a fantastic late November weeks stay at Pen Y Bont.

The cottage is very cosy and we really enjoyed nights in front of the woodburning fire. Pen Y Bont has all the facilities you could wish for and more, we were very comfortable indeed. Owners Iain and Wilma are very welcoming/helpful and live nearby if required. The cottage is perfectly situated in the village, a stone's throw from the beach and all amenities. Aberdaron is obviously pretty quiet at this time of year but still has two pubs, a bakery and a Spar open to keep you going. Only went in the Gwesty Ty Newydd pub during our stay, situated right on the beach, had a couple of very nice meals in there, dog friendly in the front bar too. Aberdaron is well situated for touring the peninsula and would highly recommend Pen Y Bont as a place to stay, we would definitely like to return one day

Really enjoyed our stay in this very charming, comfortable and well equipped cottage.

The bottle of wine was much appreciated. Coat hooks would have been welcomed in the porch area. The shower was very powerful and it would be worth warning guests to turn taps on only slightly as the shower tray can overflow. These are only small points in an otherwise excellent cottage and would definitely recommend to others.

Aberdaron is such a beautiful town, stunning walks, perfect location for exploring the coast.

Pen y Bont was just what we needed for our stay, very cosy, clean, pet friendly, close to shops, and beach. Definitely recommend!

Aberdaron is one of our favourite places, and this cottage is right there in the heart of the village, with all of the amenities in walking distance.

This was our third time at this cottage which must give a clue as to what we think of the place.

The cottage itself is very nice with ample off road parking. It's at the centre of a tiny village with restaurants/pubs/hotels, cafes and ice cream shops within two minutes walk, the beach the same. It is a stunning little getaway.

The cottage is perfectly situated in a lovely rural area, easy access to the beach, shop, bakery and pub, chippy, and cafes.

Beds comfortable the kitchen has everything thing you need but looks bigger on the photographs, Good shower but the bathroom is dark because of the brown wood. We didn't use the pool table the room smells damp and uninviting. Having said that we did enjoy our holiday

Lovely property, location is perfect.

Shower is amazing very powerful. Lovely outside space with ample parking. Wifi is great, no issues at all with it. Log burner was perfect after a swim in the sea. Washing machine came in very handy and weather was perfect for drying on the line.

Such a lovely house, with all that you need for a great holiday.

Tumble dryer in the garage would be a bonus but by no means takes anything away from the stay. Few issues with the shower but again nothing that we couldn't work around. We had an amazing holiday and are very much looking forward to our stay next year.

Cottage is in a perfect location in the heart of the village. Cottage was very clean and had everything we needed inclusive of the sun loungers and gas bbq.

Only one thought.

The property had two ‘fridges. I’d be happier with just the one fridge with ice box and replace the one next to the washing machine with a dishwasher.

Just returned from a fabulous holiday staying in Pen y Bont in Aberdaron.

Set in the centre of the village within a minutes walk to the beach. Its always a pleasant place to stay, clean and well maintained to a high standard. We have been returning a few times over the years, so its nice to see the owners have been putting money back into the property. A new walk in shower with rain head is amazing. The paved patio round the back is much better too. Plus New TV , Microwave and dining sets. Safe to say we will be returning.

Aberdaron is a wonderful spot, and this cottage is in the heart of the village.

It is so good to not have to use the car for a week. A spotlessly clean cottage with all the amenities, and most definitely room for 6, we will be back and we will bring all the family.

Scenery was breathtaking. Had a lovely meal at Ty Newydd. Couldn’t have been more convenient as it was over the road from the shop.

Lovely holiday, perfect location for the beach.

House is spacious and has almost everything you need for a week away. Internet can be intermittent but not the end of the world. This was our second year here and we have booked again for next year!

We greatly enjoyed our holiday in Aberdaron, the cottage was in a perfect location (a stone's throw from the beach) and excellent fish and chip shop!

The cottage had all the facilities we could require and the lovely patio was extremely useful. The only limitations were the variable internet connection and also some hooks or another shelf would be very useful in the bathroom - with 4 adults and no where to store toilettries this was tricky! However we would definitely book again and enjoyed our stay in Aberdaron.

This feels like a very mixed review.

There were a lot of pluses to this cottage, it was very clean and well maintained as well as well located - however vastly overpriced. I suspect that this was because of the demand for such places due to covid and understandably there is a need to recuperate losses from the last 18 months. However, our biggest disappointment was the internet. It was desperately poor and we could only access it in the top bedroom or outside at the front of the house. Ordinarily I might have been able to have forgiven this, but given the price we paid I have had to score lower than it probably would have scored in a normal year.

Very peaceful and quiet location which was ideal for a comfortable relaxing break.

Owners were lovely as were everyone we spoke to in the village. The key thing about Pen y Bont is its location - so close to the beach and local amenities. Everything you need is on the doorstep.

We have been returning to Pen Y Bont on numerous occasions over the past few years.

It is a lovely ,comfy cottage in the perfect location, dead centre of Aberdaron and just a minutes walk to the sea and all amenities. The cottage has always been cleaned to a very high standard, but with the covid restrictions the place had a deeper clean if at all possible and everything was sterile. They have hand sanitisers in the front porch for you to use and sterile wipes for surfaces. Every care had been taken to protect the customer and the villagers during these unusual times. I wouldn't hesitate to return again in the future. Well done to the owners for making our stay enjoyable and safe.

Lovely sheltered back garden area to eat. Plenty of parking space. House was clean and lovely welcoming touch of a bottle of wine. Extra shelves would help in the bathroom for wash bags etc.

So convenient for the beach & shops, off street parking was a huge bonus! Everything thing we needed was provided. You could see and smell the house was clean on arrival. We've already booked again for next year.

The cottage couldn't be handier for everything the lovely village of Aberdaron has to offer. The Spar shop is just across the road and we can recommend their butcher's counter. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable and it's nice to know that the owners aren't too far away should you need them. We'll be back.

Needs 2 bathrooms for 6 people plus would help if fridge was moved from behind kitchen door.

Having stayed in Aberdaron many times over the years and passed by Pen-Y-Bont we have always asked ourselves what it was like.

Well now we know - one of the best cottages we have stayed at in the village. Great location, very comfortable, well equipped & parking outside the front door! Our hosts lived close by and were very friendly, checking we were comfortable on arrival, but never intrusive during our stay. Bendigedig!

house was in lovely position and very well equipped.

Only downside was the downstairs bedroom smelled of damp.the fan in the bathroom didnt work due to there being a birds nest in the back of it outside which my son removed and managed to get it working again.The cold tap to the bath wouldnt turn off which needs addressing . Note that was in the house expressed that the owners would call the day after arrival to sort any issues we may have but we didnt see them all week. Didnt feel the need to ring them as we managed to sort the problem ourselves.We still managed to have a lovely holiday but feel the property could do with some well needed maintenance.

The position of the cottage meant we could walk to beach, shop, cafe and pub which was perfect with small children.

The games room was perfect for grown up children!

this cottage is 5 star everything you want is there location is first class owners Iain & Wilma are so helpful already booked again for October told our friends about it they've booked for September

This has to be the best cottage we have ever stayed in.

It was exceptionally clean,warm and equipped. The outside space and games room was an added bonus as was the use of the gas barbeque, facilities we weren't expecting, you must promote them more. The cottage was in an excellent location, just a short distance from the lovely beach which was predominantly dog friendly. Great food in The Ship Inn Resturant and great weather for September made it a perfect holiday. Thank you Wilma and Ian

We will definitely be booking again. The beach was beautiful, there is everything you need right on your door step and we found the locals so friendly. Added bonus? The pooches loved it.... so the family are all happy!
