Cooper's Rest (Gorffwysfa Coopers)

This is the third time we have been to Coopers Rest and that says it all.

We have booked again for next year, the accommodation is fantastic! Clean, comfortable, spacious and with everything you could need for a self catering stay, to us it feels like home. Great communication from owner and assisting staff, would not hesitate to recommend. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We have stayed at Coopers Rest a few times and always found it clean and homely.

Sadly it is starting to look a bit grubby and needs some paintwork done. The cleaning is an issue with dirty corners and the freezer in particular has a seal full of gunk. I have left a list of recommendations in the owners' 'Oops' book which will hopefully be implemented before new guests arrive.

Great location for our visit to Snowdonia national park, within easy reach of coast & hills.

Nice enclosed garden to keep the dog safe & to enjoy a drink in the afternoon sun. Lovely large dining kitchen & lounge.

Coopers Rest provides an ideal multi generational location for a holiday in the middle of Snowdonia.

There is a generous double bedroom and en suite downstairs, with two double bedrooms and family bathroom on the first floor. The ground floor living accommodation comprises two large rooms, with the kitchen/ dining room opening onto the secure ( child friendly) garden. It is well appointed and Jode the caretaker is really helpful and supportive. We loved it and hope to return.

Very well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. Decent size secure garden for dogs. Short walk to Spar and pub and ideal base for exploring Snowdonia. Locals very friendly as well. Would definitely recommend this property.

Cooper’s Rest proved to be a fabulous base for a 60th birthday celebration week with family (4 adults).

Clean, comfortable, great walks and mtb trails on the doorstep, with the stowage area/drying room being a great asset in wet weather. Safe garden for dogs. The living space is all and more than you could wish for on holiday, particularly the extremely well-equipped kitchen/dining area. So many places to visit within a short drive, and the railway station a few minutes walk up the road. The property is cosy with a controllable heating system and the joy of a wood burner for extra hygge! The local shop is well-stocked and really friendly and there are superlative independent shops in Llanrwst. Looking forward to a future visit to this beautiful part of Wales.

We loved staying here-the cottage was comfortable, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed.

Everyone in the village was so friendly and the cottage was perfectly placed for both local walks and further afield. The railway station is two minutes walk away so saves you using the car. We had a wonderful week at Cooper’s Rest and would definitely recommend it and book to stay again.

Really nice cottage that I booked for my mums 80th Birthday week and it had so much potential and generally we loved this place (the idea and photos of the place that is), however it let itself down.

... I had to give the kitchen a good clean on arrival... skirting boards were not clean throughout the property (as in obviously thick in dust dirty) and the build up of cobwebs in the kitchen and dirty/smelly internal bin left us inundated with midges causing members of the party to be covered in bites and not being able to open doors or windows - which the kitchen was perfect for enjoying the beautiful evenings - real shame. I found it strange that the grass was not cut for our arrival as it was very long and looked unkempt and even more bizarre that the gardener turned up during our stay - he was lovely and had a job to do but very odd to have that during your holiday!! One of the reasons we booked was based on the downstairs bedroom/ bathroom option for my elderly mother, which was a great addition, however be aware the tiles are super slippery when the shower is on and not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Finally, on arrival the fridge was not getting cold causing all the food we took to spoil, I called and messaged the person (Jode) who text to say any issues let them know..... but we got zero response (this alone would make me not return to the property unfortunately- nothing worse than getting the customers payment then showing no care when things arent right). Its a shame cos this truly is a lovely property in a perfect location for walking/biking/ relaxing and has space inside and out to enjoy Wales.

Information pack contains some great information of the local amenities, walks etc. local pub was very welcoming, along with a games room for the children.

This was a family holiday of 6 adults so accommodation picked accordingly.

I must say that this was the best accommodation by a mile we have stayed in over the years of using sykes cottage’s. The house was presented on arrival beautifully making it instantly feel special. The rooms were all lovely sizes and the kitchen was outstanding. It was equipped with everything you would need so much so we cooked a roast for 6 on day 2 with no problems. The outdoor shower for the dog was brilliant but now he feels spoiled so will be a struggle back home

The cottage had everything we needed, well equipped and comfortable. We chose the property on the proximity to many great tourist attractions, which led to a fantastic week in Wales. Would highly recommend.

Coopers Rest is a beautiful property, we would definitely recommend a stay here, great accessibility with all amenities near by.

As four elderly people we would have appreciated grab rails in both showers as tiled floor gets very slippery.

Also it will be safer with anti slip mats. If the suggested facilities were provided we would have given top marks. All four enjoyed the holiday in Coopers Rest

One of the best properties we have stayed in, great location, cottage comfortable, spacious, clean and has everything you could need for your stay.

We have now stayed twice and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again if we are in Snowdonia. Great garden too especially if you have a dog. Excellent communication from the lady who looks after the cottage, we had a great stay and would highly recommend Coopers Rest.

The property is ideally located for visits in Snowdonia and Conwy.

The home is comfortable and warm in a quiet setting. The local village shop provides nearly everything you should need.

This is a beautiful cottage, much bigger than expected from the photo's.

The living room is a lovely space for relaxing and the kitchen is super large. It is an ideal cottage for a family or group holiday. The two bathrooms were beautifully decorated as were the bedrooms. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who would like to holiday in North Wales as the location is very central for all activities. There is also a beautiful garden to dine, relax or play in at the end of your day. Excellent all round.

Coopers Rest is a lovely cottage, well appointed and caters for 6 comfortably.

Excellent location for touring northern wales and local walks, the castle to roman bridge loop and a nice valley loop from the front door are excellent (but be quick as the de-foresting boys are laying new roads). The village shop is quite limited but has essentials. Unfortunately for us, the pub was being refurbed and the hotel was changing hands so there was nowhere to drop in to eat or drink. Will visit again, there was an 'attentive' neighbour who I am sure was trying to help regarding the waste collection system, but a little too much so.

Our stay at Cooper’s rest over the Christmas period was excellent.

The facilities were very good and excellent downstairs room with ensuite bathroom for the elderly couple we brought with us. The welcome pack was a good thought.Cooper’s rest was spotlessly clean and all in all very good Stay at Coopers. Rest will definitely recommend to anyone

Lovely cottage with some great walks nearby.

Comfy beds and nice welcome pack. Only downsides are one sofa extremely uncomfortable, needs replacing, and the fab kitchen really needs blinds as it is overlooked by street opposite.Other guests have also mentioned this.

On the whole the cottage was lovely - one of the best we have stayed in.

It is well situated to do outdoor activities, such as hill walking and climbing. The only downside was the weather. Although, probablby nit-picking, the sofas in the lounge were very uncomfortable. We were surprised that there was no BBQ.

Immaculate inside and out and very cosy and comfortable. The property is a lovely size with a great enclosed garden if you are bringing your dog. Great walks from the doorstep and only short drives to the surrounding hills, lakes and mountains. Really could not fault anything at all, absolutely loved our stay! Thank you

Lovely accommodation, ideal for family visit to Snowdonia.

We had a lovely week at Coopers Rest (Gorffwysfa Coopers).

There were six of us, plus our son’s girlfriend’s dachshund - ‘Cooper’! We arrived to find a welcoming and reassuringly clean house, with a large family kitchen, the table all laid out and ready to go. The rest of the house was equally clean and well presented. It has all you might need during your stay. Microwave, Washing machine, dishwasher, etc, with plenty of crockery, cups, glasses and utensils etc. We even bought our own slow cooker to do a couple of meals, only to find there was one already there. There are also the essential TV and WiFi, but also there’s a selection of board games and cards if you would prefer to leave all that behind - we had several tense Uno sessions! The location is very quiet with wonderful views, which can be especially admired from the garden. It is well positioned for access to Snowdon (about 45 minutes to Llanberis, from where we walked to the summit ), Blaenau Ffestiniog and Betws-y-Coed ( both about 15 minutes away). On the doorstep there are walks, a small store, a pub and a railway station a five minute walk away (we travelled the one hour trip to Conwy and Llandudno, about £8 each return - well recommended). Also in easy reach are the three Zip World sites. We did Velocity 2 at the Bethesda site. A bit pricey, but very enjoyable (get a discounted price if you can make a group of four). Don’t miss Dolwyddelan Castle, it’s just a 20 minute walk from the house. You can go inside and there are lovely views from the top. Slightly further afield you can go and explore Anglesey or visit Porthmadog or Aberystwyth. All in all we had a fantastic week and achieved all we had hoped to, and this lovely house was the perfect base. I’m sure we will return at some point.

The owners were very helpful and the property could not be better

This is a lovely property, ideal for sharing time with family/ friends at Christamastime with its lovely big, well equipped family kitchen, filled with daylight (even on a rainy day).

The lovely large twinkling Christmas tree added to the light and festive ambience. There's been plenty of room for meal preparation, plenty of fridge space and good seating around the large family table. The living room is spacious, and the wood stove added to the cosyness. The beds are comfortable with enough wardrobe space, and plenty of additional towels, teatowels in case required. Heating has been just right and easy to control. The upstairs bathroom is spacious and the shower works well, however, there was a problem with the downstairs en suite (a blockage in the washbasin drain, and the control knob for the downstairs shower being difficult to turn on and off). The GleamTeam were very helpful in calling a plumber, who solved the drain blockage on Christmas Eve, but he'll need to give further attention to the shower control when the property is vacant. Apart from that little difficulty (for which we had good support), the property was everything we could have hoped for and would be happy to book again for another family occassion. :)

Great place to stay, We only had two problems with the property ( not counting the boiler not working on arrival due to a frozen drip pipe which was soon rectified by the owner) 1) The key safe is too low down.

I'm old'ish and have poor sight so I had to kneel down in the wet to see the keypad. 2) The patio has poor drainage So when we arrived the water that had pooled on the patio had frozen solid making the whole of the patio an ice rink and was very slippy. This was due to weather conditions but a front door key or rubber mats or something in freezing conditions should be considered. But over all a lovely property

On the whole it was a very comfortable stay.

A few things missing. Equipment in the kitchen utensil ect minimal. Definitely blinds needed in kitchen as felt was in a goldfish bowl to neighbours over looking. Blinds in main bathroom. Limited furniture to sit on in the living room with a large number of guests..

Such a lovely home and we had a comfortable stay.

Lovely cottage set in the beautiful countryside of Snowdonia.

I would highly recommend for couples or families with children of toddler age upwards :) The cottage is such a short drive from many attractions and is very well kitted out. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with our 16 month old twins and would definitely come back once the girls are slightly older due to the house not being as baby friendly as we originally thought (rugs not hoovered so covered in dog hairs which covered the girls and their toys, fire place and wood exposed and a large step down from the living area to the kitchen, no stair gate for the stairs) so we certainly had to have eyes in the back of our head with two who have just started walking :)

The Cottage was presented well and we wanted for nothing. Situated in a lovely quiet setting but in easy reach of North Wales attractions. We did the suggested 2.5 mile walk through the forest and would recommend it to anyone. Thanks

We have travelled to a fair few places and this is possibly the best self catering we have stayed at.

it illicitly lots of ooos and aaaas when we first went in. beautiful property, wonderful view, gorgeous area in easy reach of touristy things. the tiling in the bathrooms/kitchen are superb. I'm sure when it's cold the fireplace will be perfect. and the kitchen is a glorious sun trap.

Very homely, we absolutely loved it. Enjoyed the local walk up the road, with the dog. Appreciated the safe walled garden. Loved the village. Great location.

Excellent cottage/house finished to a very high spec and fully equipped with everything needed (especially the kitchen).

Wonderful location nestled in wooded valleys and close to many Snowdon attractions and places of interest made this an excellent base

it was lovely and the dinning area was presented so well, however I did have to do a little cleaning on the second day, I was surprised that areas had been left or not quite done to a extremely high standard considering its covid.

also the ensuite toilet smelt so bad of wee i've never been on holiday before and brought bleach to clean a loo, the smell did return after the bleach use so maybe there's more of an issue. despite those two things I would definitely come back and recommend. i'm a perfectionist but I do think holidays are precious times so they nee to be perfect.
