Rhydau Cottage

We had a lovely stay at Rhydau Cottage and would highly recommend it.

The owners were incredibly welcoming and accommodating, which really helped make our stay enjoyable. The cottage itself was cosy, comfortable and had everything we needed. It’s set in such a lovely, quiet and peaceful area, but at the same time it’s really well located for exploring North Wales, with plenty of great days out within easy reach. It was the perfect place to come back to and relax after a busy day exploring. We had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend Rhydau Cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful and cosy base for a trip to North Wales. Thank you!

Extremely nice barn conversion, well equipped, clean and comfortable.

Plenty of room for your car and Rhydau cottage is well positioned for many of the attractions of the area, both in Snowdonia and Anglesey. Very pleasant and helpful owner. Had a very peaceful and relaxing holiday.

The property is clean, roomy, comfortable, peaceful and well resourced.

Excellent off road parking. The cottage is nicely located within easy car travel distance for attractions on the North Wales coast, Snowdonia and Anglesey. The owners are friendly and willing to help with any queries. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the cottage and hope to return at a future date.

The immediate impression as you enter the building is favourable with a large and modern kitchen and lounge area.

Everywhere was clean and tidy. The bathroom again was modern and spacious with both a shower and a separate bath.However, most places we have rented have had a welcome pack e.g. milk, a cake or flowers. There was no pack here, not a major point though. A hairdryer would also have been a beneficial addition. We have to thank Fiona who promptly came to our aid following an accident we caused. The place is very quiet although close to the road (40 yards) there is plenty of car parking on site. The major benefit for us was the locality. It is central to many attractions; stunning castles, heritage steam railways, Anglesey, the Great Orme, Betws Y Coed and, of course the majestic Mount Snowdon. Nowadays one of our ‘wants’ is good Wi-Fi. This did not disappoint. However, the one disappointment was the TV. Despite the best attempts of the owner, we were unable to watch any programmes apart from one day. Overall we were more than satisfied with this comfortable cottage and the close location of both Bangor and Caernarfon for food shopping.

Location wise- great!

A good place to explore Snowdonia. Visited Snowdon Mountain a lot of times for a drive, picnics and more sight- seeing! Its near Bangor where you will find Waitrose for your needs. Found an award winning dairy ( who doesn't love cheese?!) "The Cosyn Cymru". A must to visit and try their sheep cheese and yogurt! Thank you for 30 minutes early checked in. Toilet and bath was quite big. Abundant water supply. Wifi was not bad. TV was a life saving as it has Netflix, Youtube etc. There are few or more things to share. As we want to indulge ourselves for a nice and relaxing holiday away from home, these are the things that made us uncomfortable during our stay. The cottage was not well maintained. It starts with the smell inside each bedrooms. Opening windows didn't help and it gets worse due to the smell of the ??cows/ sheeps poop. Unpleasant smell on pillows as well as the duvets. Its like smell of sweat all over it. Thank God, brought a lot of pillow cases and blankets for kids. Cobwebs were everywhere. Crumbs under the sofas, dining table were definitely seen. Layer of dirt and greases found on surfaces such as windows, ovens, cupboards in the kitchen. Oh the noise that the water pumps gave us at night was really disturbing. It says large fridge but no. Freezer cannot be use properly as almost half-filled with ice. The couch needs to be upgraded. And lastly, the washer and tumble dryer are placed in an unstable wooden stand that will cause the appliances to fall down when its used.

Really convenient location for both Snowdonia and Llandudno. Really quiet area, could only really hear the cows sometimes. Liked that the two bedrooms are far apart. Knocked points off the rating due to a few issues. The toilet was extremely hard to flush. The sound from the tank/water system every time the taps/shower was on in the bathroom was relentlessly loud. The upstairs bedroom was like a greenhouse, it was so so hot it was almost impossible to sleep and there was no fan or aircon. I would suggest having a sofabed in the living room as this hot weather will ensue and likely get worse and this would provide alternative arrangements if you cannot provide aircon in that attic room. It was superficially clean but there were loads and loads of cobwebs that had clearly been there some time; under the dining table, on units, on the ceilings, under the radiator. The outside seating area was nice but there were only two chairs that had seen better days, one is completely dipped and warped. There was also no option for shade which was disappointing. There were also no cushions for the worn out couches in the living room so you couldn't sit comfortably as the back is very deep. Overall our stay was mostly ok, definitely made by the location, but I think if we'd have stayed longer than 3 days we would have struggled to be comfortable.

Very good location for exploring Snowdonia , facilities all good too , if you are a light sleeper then you may experience the black water pump next to the boiler which is under the main bedroom, it is noisy and switches on/off frequently, we turned it off at night but it must be turned on again in the morning before using water .

Also the toilet system needs attention it doesn’t flush easily. A great place to stay though

We have visited this cottage in February/March for the last four years and for us it perfect.

Close to the mountains and the sea with easy access to both. We have always been fortunate to have good weather but the cottage is a lovely, quiet place to relax in the evening or should the weather prove an issue. The cottage is always presented and maintained immaculately and shows no signs of wear and tear over the time we have been coming. A spacious bathroom with a separate "proper" powerful shower and large freestanding bath . The kitchen has all usual equipment/appliances and a large freestanding fridge; the utility room has a separate washing machine and tumble dryer.The ESSE woodturner provides a welcoming focal point to the open plan living area. The bedrooms are light and airy with comfortable beds. We would not consider staying anywhere else in Snowdonia. Thankyou again Fiona. This review was written by Benny the Ball

We had a fantastic stay!

The cottage is very comfortable and spacious and a great location. It would just benefit from having more kitchen facilities please: tea towels (one just isn’t enough for a week!) A kitchen towel, oven gloves (a must!), kitchen scissors, some sharp knives. More dishes and plates. Tesco was very useful to us.

Amazing property in an amazing location!

A great base for exploring North Wales. The cottage is immaculate - modern and well equipped with everything you could need for your time away. Highly recommended to anyone - we will certainly be back when we can!

We had a lovely stay at the cottage, it's in a great location that allowed us to easily visit the areas of North Wales that we wanted to.

The cottage has been designed and furnished to a really high standard. (We also managed to get the TV signal working after fiddling with the aerial cable in the back of the TV and retuning again just incase it happens to anyone else)

Third year visiting this lovely cottage.

It is as perfect as the first time we visited in 2022. Immaculately presented - modern kitchen, Esse woodburner and plenty of logs supplied, luxurious bathroom with a large powerful shower and deep bath. Position within easy reach of the mountains and coast, and should it rain a cosy bolt hole in front of the wood burner. Thankyou once again Fiona.

Lovely accommodation and location, nicely presented and the complementary basket of wood for the burner was a nice touch.

We really enjoyed our stay at Rhydau Cottage.

Lots to do and see in Snowdonia and Anglesey especially when you enjoy nature and hiking. Lovely villages and castles to visit too. On the whole the facilities were great, but there are one or two things that could be improved upon. Adding scissors, kindling and matches for the woodburner and the hoover is very heavy and cumbersome. But these are small details. We very much enjoyed our stay.

First class property I would highly recommend, everything is there that you need and is fitted out to the highest standard, Fantastic kitchen and the bathroom is really luxurious we loved it.

Excellent location just off the main road and loads of places to visit nearby with just a short drive. The owners are very friendly and helpful and have done a great job with the property. We will definitely be returning.

The cottage is one of the best I've stayed in.

Spacious and well thought out and well equipped. It's an ideal base for exploring snowdonia only a 10 - 15 minute drive to Snowdon and Anglesey. I'm definitely looking to go back later in the year

Whilst the barn conversion was very creatively thought out and completed to the highest standards we were unable to feel comfortable staying in the property.

The outside seating area is poorly thought out, not welcoming or comfortable, no shade provided and exposed to constant traffic noise. The dining area was disappointing as the chairs were too low for the table… Upon arrival and contacting the owner as requested we did not experience any welcome then or throughout our stay. There was nothing to welcome us in the property either. Ie information about the local area…shops, eateries, emergency services etc. The property was not well cleaned. Crumbs under settee cushions, food on dining chairs, un-ironed bed linen, holders on sink un-cleaned and the shower required attention. There were lots of cobwebs and dust… The location for our holiday was however spot on, giving easy access to the national park, Anglesey, and the Llyn Peninsula.

Rhydau Cottage is a very recently converted cottage with some imaginative and interesting features and which served our needs very well.

It is in a location which offers very easy reach to many tourist sites in Snowdonia and my wife and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Facilities are very modern.The whole cottage is maintained to a very high standard. The location was great for exploring North Wales and Anglesey. Would highly recommend this cottage to others.

The cottage/barn is stunning!

Beautiful cottage, amazing job on the refurbishment.

Only small comment is too have a bit more crockery and place mats. The table is amazing but needed a few more place mats as we had a couple of guests over for dinner. Otherwise fantastic place to stay.

A gorgeous converted farmhouse with fab facilities, perfect for four adults and in a beautiful location.

We had a lovely holiday here in September.

The owner was very welcoming and on hand if we had any issues. The property was beautifully laid out and a pleasure to stay in, with great views. Very comfortable and clean. All the joys of Snowdonia were on our doorstep. The two very friendly little cats made it feel like a home from home.

The location was perfect, situated around 10 minutes from Snowdon. Looking out of the windows and seeing mountains was a lovely way to wake up. Would highly recommend staying here.

Lovely cottage, spotlessly clean and well equipped.

Peaceful and pleasant surroundings. Only a short drive to a selection of supermarkets and with easy reach of many of North Wales attractions. Owner on hand for any problems. Would thoroughly recommend this cottage.

Such a lovely house, feels so cosy and homely.

The pictures on the advert don't do it justice. The owners were very helpful and welcoming when we arrived.

The cottage was excellent.

It was well looked after and cosy to settle down in. There were just two things that were difficult. 1. Lack of accurate directions to get to the cottage. If we had been told about the “Paintball Wales.com” signs that pointed directly to the cottage it would have been easier. 2. Little / no information about “good” eating places locally. We did find one, but the was no guidance. Other than these two grumbles it was a great holiday.

The interior of the cottage was just as the photos shows, it was clean and warm and the wood burner was a nice addition.

. I agree with previous reviewers; the outdoor seating area could be a bit more pleasant, perhaps with some sort of covering and screening and the kitchen could do with more crockery - only had 4 mugs. The overly large and high dining table and low dining chairs made mealtimes slightly uncomfortable. The shower room has no slip resistant mat and there are no blinds at the windows. Please be aware the property stated no pets, this is one of our booking requirements as my husband has a bad alleges to dogs and cats. The owners have two cats that were always trying to enter the property when the door was opened.

A really lovely cottage - very comfortable and cosy for our visit when the weather was cold, wet and windy.

Would have loved to have lit the log burner but the cottage was so cosy we didn't need it. The cottage was as described in the listing with everything that you could need for a home from home break. Loved the movement sensitive lights on the ground floor.

The property was amazing.

Very quiet location, rooms were bigger than the pictures portray which is unusual as normally people try to make pictures look bigger. The host was quick to respond to messages and were great.

It was warm and inviting on arrival and the owner friendly and helpful. The conversion has been done and maintained to a very high standard. The property was spotlessly clean and well equipped- large fridge and plenty of kitchen utensils.The bathroom is beautiful and the shower exactly what you need - large, powerful and hot! The cottage is an ideal position to easily reach the mountains, coast and Anglesey and although is close to a main road you can't hear the traffic. We are already booking a return visit. There’s so much to love about this cottage.

We had high expectations from the photos and it didn’t disappoint. There’s a fabulous bathroom, perfect for a long soak after a day in the hills. Modern kitchen, epic dining table and cosy fireside seating. Easy access from the main road with plenty of parking. There’s a great little shop at the petrol station just a few minutes away which has an amazing selection of plant based products. This is a fabulous little cottage and highly recommended.

The booking was waste, directions to the cottage great,We were met by the owner very nice lady.

The interior of the cottage was of a very high standard and would definitely recommend it. If I could improve anything it would be to make the outdoor seating area a bit more pleasant, perhaps with some sort of covering. And provide a non-slip mat for the shower. And a hairdryer would have been useful. But really those things didn't spoil our holiday at all - the cottage itself is beautiful.

I would definitely recommend Rhydau Cottage.

This is a wonderful barn conversion that has had a lot of thought and hard work put in to create a great layout with loads of character.

My partner loved the stand alone bath and we both loved the comfort of the lounge and the awesome log burner which made for lovely relaxed evenings. Fiona was very helpful making sure we had everything we needed & it will be a pleasure to book again in the future. A selection of the lighting being activated by movement is a nice touch too.

Absolutely gorgeously converted barn.

Really easy to find and super close to snowdon. We were greeted by the owner and shown around, then told to contact if any issues - this was really handy and reassuring. Comfy beds, beautiful kitchen loads of facilities. Be back again soon.

We were met with the key by the owner who showed us into the property and explained everything we needed to know.

The property was spacious and clean. We felt that more crockery would be needed if there were 4 people were staying. otherwise it was excellent.

Rhydau cottage was a loverly place to stay very comfortable and well equipped and finished to a very high standard.

it’was perfectly situated for all the places we had planned to visit,the owners were both very nice and friendly we will definitely be returning in the future to visit the places we had planned but didn’t get to .

The cottage was lovely and quiet but located just off a main road - we were greeted by the owner and shown round - they have done a fantastic job of converting it into a modern comfortable environment - loved it - its ideally placed for snowdonia and the west coast - the garage about a mile up the road also sells most things you can need

Thoughtful and stylish conversion into a cottage with lots of comforts - fluffy towels, logs, quality beds and bedding.

Bathroom is awesome. Well equipped kitchen with a posh Smeg fridge. Outside, plenty of parking, bbq and comfy outdoor furniture. Perfect for star gazing and staring at mountains (as long as the Welsh weather lets you). The locations is great for beaches (try Dinas Dinlle) and for walking in Snowdonia. Loads of family attractions nearby - we highly recommend the slate mine and Great Orme copper mine. Plenty of castles and gardens too.

It is a lovely modern, barn conversion with very good quality fittings.

The land lady, Fiona was very helpful and always available, happy to answer our questions, and when we discovered there was no DVD player, her husband went out and bought a new one. Also when we had internet problems they were resolved within the day.

Wow - what a fantastic place to stay. Absolutely immaculate and equipped with high quality furnishings too. The log burner was an added bonus and when we couldn’t light it on the first night the owner cane round to help us. We would definitely recommend and we hope to come back again one day.
