The 4 star rating is ok if your looking for location and visual aspect but it very much lacks comfort, The bed i slept in was woberly and made a noice when turning, The house had a aura of musky smell on arrival, espesiall the double bedroom,,The two setee's are worn out and no support, very hard to get to ones feet after sitting for a while.

. no better than a bean bag. Television is very small, basic and poor quality sound.We had to spend an hour in the kitchen to clean the kettle, toaster, and mirowave, and the seals on the fridge needed a good scrub. tea mugs had residue inside and had not been cleaned. Very dissapointed as it is a lovely cottage in a lovely quiet position with good signal internet, Spoiled by lack of good kitchen appliance cleaning. and some furniture uptates,

This was our second visit to the property, and standards were maintained.

Bed linen and towels were immaculate. Cottage and its surroundings are in a beautiful location, love the trains going by. Grateful for the help we received with the DVD player Highly recommend, will be returning!

Perfectly located and has everything you need from a base for exploring the mountains.

This house is in the perfect location in Betws Y Coed, literally a short walk from shops, cafes, pubs.

It is clean & comfortable & has a lovely patio looking onto the railway. It is small but very well laid out. The only issue is the website mentions that 6 trains go either way every day but more transparency is needed, the 1st train passes through at 5.45am so anyone staying in the front rooms will wake early (even with the windows closed), we had poor sleep because of this & unfortunately it would put us off staying again, if noise doesn't bother you then it would be the perfect spot for you.

the cottage was clean cosy comfortable and in an ideal location.

Another lovely stay in this really nice and comfortable cottage.

We have stayed here on previous occasions and we are never disappointed. The private parking, the cottage, amenities, and location all add up to 10 out of 10. The owner Mr and Mrs Williams are very friendly and if the need arises they will make sure any issues are resolved, if you contact them. We have booked again for September.

Lovely cottage right by the railway.

Nice base to head out and explore the area. Although clean and tidy (and the lovely touch of fresh flowers and also milk in the fridge) the cottage could do with a deeper clean. The fridge/freezer/washing machine seals were awful. There is damp behind the bed in the twin room which has been pointed out before so we assumed had been sorted but it hasn’t. Bedding has all seen better days. But these are just small niggles. Unfortunately there was work going on at the railway (or depot behind) every single night until 2am so that kept us awake a lot. It would have been nice to have been told so we could have been prepared for this. As stated above lovely cottage could just do with a bit of TLC.

The cottage is well looked after and everything is provided. We’ve never stayed at Betwys y coed before. We found it to be the most relaxing week we’ve had away. It was helped by the fact that being out for the day or even a couple of hours it was like coming home to relax. We will definitely look to book again next year.

The cottage was clean and spacious and exactly as per the pictures in the listing.

It has easy access in a central location in the town right next to coffee shops, restaurants and shops. My 3-star rating is due to us struggling to sleep at night due to the unbelievably soft mattresses. I realise mattress softness is subjective; but we have stayed in numerous places in recent years and never experienced a mattress like it. My wife fell out of bed one night is it collapses anywhere near the edge. Our family stayed a couple of nights in the other rooms, and they also experienced uncomfortable sleep. Pillows were also very tired and flat which became more apparent after stripping the beds and pillowcases as instructed to do so in the welcome pack. I would recommend bringing your own pillows. Lack of sleep does tarnish an otherwise beautiful cottage and unfortunately affected the overall holiday. Other than sleeping, the cottage was well equipped, spacious and a lovely patio at the back with good seating to relax and enjoy the tree topped mountains in the distance.

The cottage is comfortable and had enough space for our family of 4.

The trains were quite a novelty for the kids and weren't a bother at all. There is a nice terrace to sit out on, and the area is pretty quiet. It is in a perfect location for the surrounding area such as Snowdon, Zip World sites and Llanberis. Betws-y-coed has places to eat close by and a great riverside walk as well as a park to play football.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in 1 Railway Cottages, the location is peaceful and beautiful.

The station area has a great vibe and you are also very close to Betws-y-Coed. The cottage itself is very homely and the bed was very comfy.This is a great base for exploring North Wales. Thanks for a lovely stay Alwen,and the Welsh cakes / flowers/ milk,we may well be returning! Ros and John

This was our second visit to this property, and we were not disappointed in the standards or facilities provided.

I give 10 out of 10 because that is what I consider to be a true reflection on the overall experience, I was able to contact the property owner easily for key arrangement and they also contacted me during our stay to ask if everything was satisfactory which was thoughtful of them. A fabulous property which has a secluded position and added bonus of private parking, although only a few minutes from all amenities. You get what you pay for usually I find and this property I feel was total value. Will be booking very soon for another lovely experience once again. The location was great but we found the following problems.

There was damp in the double bedroom and also in the twin, the twin was actually dripping water from the ceiling. The mattresses have all seen better days and could do with upgrading. The sofa's looked comfy until you sat on them, the two seater felt like it had collapsed and again could do with replacing. The rug in the lounge was unsuitable and a trip hazard for young children. The hob had one ring not working. The shower screen wouldn't stay in place allowing water to pour onto the floor.

Cost cottage in excellent location, very clean, comfortable, spacious and also a great hot shower.

A lovely cottage conveniently placed for visiting many areas of North Wales.

The cottage is in a perfect location and the views from it with all the wild birds are amazing.

The trains really aren’t a bother, in fact we ended up looking for them and waving! Everything you need is provided and very useful utility room. The owner gave us a friendly helpful call with all the info prior to the trip and we were warned about the damp patch in the double room and the non working blind before we arrived. On the downside the sofas were perhaps a little past their use with big sags and unfortunately for me, with a dust mite allergy, the radiator tops were absolutely full of fluff, cobwebs and dust in every location though the kitchen was the worst. Perhaps with a little more attention to cleanliness this could have been a perfect getaway.

Had a lovely stay at no1 Railway cottage.

Very clean and comfortable. Fully equipped with everything needed for a worry free stay. Double bed was super comfy. Owner was so nice kept us informed. Had a lovely touch of fresh flowers and the fire on when we arrived. Would definitely recommend and would love to stay again. I would.like to stay that on Skyecottages the description does state sky TV which there isn't. It does have a smart TV which you can use Netflix. Disney + and YouTube however the WiFi isn't strong enough for it to work all the time. But we weren't there for TV watching so not really a problem. The village is a beautiful place!

Nice little cottage but could really do with some tlc, new furniture and a lick of paint.

A fabulous cottage in a wonderful location.

Private parking close by was a real bonus as was the outside seating. We would definitely stay here again. The Welsh cakes and milk in the fridge were a thoughtful and welcome touch.

A most enjoyable holiday experience, overall trying to please every individual is difficult but this property in my view comes very close to perfection.

Car parking was excellent which was private and an added bonus was safe off road. Excellent communication from the owner regarding ascertaining keys etc. The following points are made in a helpful manner:- 1. Refuse bins (especially the green re-cycle) need labelling so that no doubt in what to place in each bin, bottles, cardboard, cans, plastic etc. 2. Additional plastic bin liners for the large black bin would help to keep bin clean. 3. A dimmer switch for the upstairs stairs/landing light or a night light to switch on during hours of darkness if you need the bathroom during the night to save putting lights on to see where your going may be beneficial especially as one bedroom exits by the stairs. 4. A warning tape or marker on the step from the kitchen into the entrance hall (to front door) needed, the step is lower and black in colour and therefore it was easy to misplace your footing and balance as happened upon our visit until you are used to it. I hasten to add the above issues did not overshadow the overall experience of the property which was most enjoyable. Thank you.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Railway cottage.

On arrival we were greeted by fresh flowers on the table, welsh cakes and a bottle of milk. Much appreciated after a long drive! The cottage was well presented, cosy, clean and comfortable. The garden was lovely and we wrapped up and sat out for our morning teas while watching the birds. The location was perfect, we were in walking distance of shops, restaurants and attractions. I would definitely stay here again, as it was enjoyed by all of the family.

A beautiful modern, well equipped home-from-home in the heart of Betws y Coed village.

Thoughtful owners left milk, coffee, welshcakes and fresh flowers out for our arrival. Designated parking for up to 2 cars, a sunny quiet patio area to relax, yet only sminutes walk from pubs, restaurants and the Gwydr National Park & River Llugwy. Something for everyone and an excellent base to explore the beauty of North Wales. Highly recommended.

This was an absolutely wonderful location and perfect for our family.

The host was very kind and made sure we had everything we needed. The accommodation was cozy but just the right size for us. I hope that we're able to revisit!

What a wonderful cottage in a fabulous setting. Everything was immaculately clean and very well equipped - Mrs Williams was extremely helpful and provided lots of useful info about shops, pubs etc. The village is a perfect setting to explore Snowdonia and the surrounding areas - everything seemed to be much nearer than expected - which meant we weren't spending lots of time travelling... We cant wait to come back and explore further - once lockdown is lifted.. Many thanks...

This cottage was lovely, and exactly what we wanted.

My son who loves trains loved the train museum and shop. We all liked being so close to the shops and cafes while still being so quiet. Unfortunately due to rain we were unable to walk as much as we would have liked but found plenty to do locally with two high school children. The parking was close enough not to be a problem. We had a supermarket food delivery just after we arrived and were able to top up at the local shops as needed. We all really enjoyed our stay.

Comfortable cottage, very convenient for visiting family in nearby Llanrwst - especially since the introduction of a train service on Sundays.

This cottage is ideally situated not just for the pretty village of Betws-y-Coed but for the Snowdonia National Park ~ you can get to the high lights of the Park like the Snowdon Railway or Zip World before the crowds and take advantage of the various early bird offers.

There's plenty of private allocated parking, which is important in Betws, and it is literally a moment's walk away from the bustling shops and cafes around the Station. It is worth noting the trains are not running on the Conwy line at the moment due to storm damage in March '19 ~ due to reopen in the Summer. It's warm and well equipped and one we will revisit.

Have stayed several times before, same high standards, will no doubt book again in the future.

The cottage was just as described and pictured as on Sykes site There were no disappointments In fact there was fresh flowers and Welsh cakes when we arrived.

Cottage spotless and easy private parking for 2 cars My husband is disabled and to walk out of the front door and be in the centre of Betwsy Coed was marvellous! The only let down was the weather !!

A really spacious cottage with everything you could need for a family.

Fabulous location within easy walking distance to the village.

The Railway Cottage is very specious and located at a very good spot in Betws-y-Coed (a good place to be!

). The train passes really close to the cottage but as the train only runs 6 times a day (forward/backward) it only ads to the atmosphere we expected with a railway cottage.

It was a lovely cottage , would definitely recommend and hopefully visit again .

Thought it Just needed tidying up a bit outside on the patio probably a few pots with flowers to make it more nice to sit out . Also a BBQ in the summer .

The cottage was lovely.

Comfortable, warm and spotlessly clean, we could not fault a thing. Lots of nice places to eat, we had a 3 night break and the car did not move the whole eeekend. Would definitely visit again, we loved it.

Very close to rail line -but we knew that. Only a few trains per day -and added to the interest really. Really well situated for visiting lots of beautiful areas in North Wales.
