Cefn Isaf

We had a fantastic weeks stay.

The property was exactly as described and plenty big enough for a family of 6 and a dog. The garden was big and fully enclosed. Towels and linen were provided and a box of fudge on the kitchen table as we arrived was a "sweet" gesture. Perfect location for dog friendly beaches and shops also nearby. We'd definitely like to go back and stay again

We spent a wonderful 2 weeks at Cefn Isaf, 2 adults, 2 children and one large dog.

The house is beautiful and very welcoming and in an idyllic rural location but still with easy access to all the North Wales coast has to offer. It was well equipped with everything we needed for our stay and we felt right at home. The beds and bedding were of good quality and there was plenty of fluffy towels. The house was spotlessly clean on our arrival and there was a lovely and very generous welcome pack with essentials and treats. The house is very spacious, bigger than it looks in the pictures and the garden is beautiful with fantastic views. It is also 100% dog safe even for our large and adventurous dog. There is lots of garden furniture with cushions as well as a sunshade. There were lots of toys, games and DVDs provided which was very much appreciated by our 2 boys. The owners live very close by and are friendly and helpful but in no way intrusive. It's clear that they have put a lot of time and effort into the property, formerly their family home, and it's the best holiday home we have ever stayed in. We would all love to go back again and can think of no better recommendation than that. Thank you to the Jones family for our wonderful holiday.

House in a beautiful location.

Bit of maintenance needed! The family shower tray Leaks bad ! The front porch leaks water in around the door when it rains. Kettle is leaking. No cooking trays . Frying pan seen better days. Other than these few points we had a lovely stay in a lovely rural setting with sheep right outside your window which the two year old loved saying morning too. Good location to see lots of Wales Llandudno Conway Anglesey Abergele ect.

This is a beautiful property with an outstanding view.

It is in a peaceful rural location but still near to the coast & interesting places to visit. It’s a shame that there was broken furniture in the dining area; on our arrival one of the settees was turned upside down as it had a broken leg & was unusable. The table/speaker in the lounge also had a broken leg. The shower in the en-suite was poor although the main bathroom shower was okay. I also have to say that this is the first time we have ever rented holiday accommodation, where there has been absolutely nothing provided for refreshment after a 3 hour journey. Not even a pint of milk. However the garden is beautiful & there was plenty of outside furniture.

Beautiful house in a stunning location with views all around.

All rooms are decoarted in a lovely comfortable homely way. Really well equipped kitchen and lovely large dining room. Lovely large utility room with all equipment you need. Garden is a lovely large space and well closed off for dogs. The location is great - Only a short drive to beaches, shops and restaurants, but nowhere within walking distance. No pavements around the house either, if you walk anywhere it’s on the roads but they aren’t busy. Also very well positioned to visit snowdon, Angelsey, Betws-y-coed, Conwy and much much more.. We had a great stay at this house. My only minor negative points are that the freezer wasn’t clean and the sofas in the main living room are quite uncomfortable especially after a long day out. There are beds for 7 but only seats in the living room for 5? (We only had 5 in our family so it didn’t matter to us) There are 2 additional sofas in the dining room though! Over all, I would recommend this house. This was our second stay here. The location is fab and the setting is beautiful as is the house. Just be aware that you will have to drive everywhere.

The space, garden and location of this property I was wonderful.

The furniture etc within the house was well below the standard we expected for the price. It wasn’t a comfortable house so we were grateful for good weather and spending most of our time in the garden!

We thought Mr.

&Mrs. Jones’s property was excellent set in such idyllic surroundings. We’d have no hesitation in going back there again. A point we would just mention is that despite the best efforts of our two technically minded computer literate sons try as we might neither of the two televisions in the property would receive either the BBC or ITV Channels. Obviously perhaps due the location of the property set within the Welsh Hills. Although we were out a considerable amount of the time we were there feel that other guests might just feel inconvenienced by the lack of this facility. On a final note we would just mention that we didn’t contact the owners regarding the above TV issues as we didn’t go to Wales to watch television!

We had a lovely stay at Cefn Isaf and the cottage was perfect for our family of 4 adults and 2 young children.

It was very well equipped internally and tastefully furnished. We all enjoyed the spacious garden, especially the children and they loved seeing the farm animals across the garden fence. Lots of places of interest and attractions were easily accessible too and we were able to visit a different place each day. The added touch of providing toys and books for the children was much appreciated. Would highly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Cefn Isaf.

The large safe garden was a great play area for the kids. The views across the valley to the hills are spectacular. The house is large, roomy, well equipped and comfortable. It's location is close to favourite coastal resorts. We hope to return very soon.

what a lovely quite lovely relaxing stay no neighbours just stunning views, not complaining the door going outside to garden its raining in the hinge is loose thought property owner should know.

No WiFi connection had to buy 02 sim card to be able to use mobile.

We had to take daughter in law to hospital and had no way of ringing the hospital. Caused us real issues as we couldn't keep in touch with family. The metal cannisters in cupboard had mouldy coffee and sticky sugar in them obviously not checked as tea bags left were dated 2020! The fridge was too small for a family couldn't get all baby milk and food in it. We are a family which cook and eat together so important. Had to buy camping fridge and use ice packs to help. A large freezer in utility doesn't compensate for a small fridge, the owners response was they'd had no complaints in 4 years rather than take on board our issues. Woodlice and cockroaches in property which wasn't nice especially with 2 young children. We chose property for family holiday as there were 4 adults and 2 young children. Bedrooms were good size, parking 2 cars side by side outside was tricky because sloping drive with steps so we had to park in front of each other. Its a shame owners didn't want to know you as it helps address issues directly, believe in honest approach. Dolwen farm shop nearby which also has holiday lets, spoke to one of the owners face to face and they were very helpful. Plan to visit area again as lovely. This was an expensive week with it being in school holidays so you expect better. As long as you are aware of these issues you then can adapt to situation, we bought camping fridge, vacuumed daily where cockroaches were and parked cars safely. Can't fault the views and location. Would come back to the area.

We had a great week at Cefn Isaf , we were 4 and a 14 month toddler and small dog.

There are steps in the house but we soon trained the toddler. She loved sitting in the pink car. We had trips into the Vale of Clwyd, Prestatyn beach, Llandudno and Conwy. A great location and very quiet and peaceful. Thank you

Beautiful extremely well equipped cottage in an idyllic location.

Would highly recommend and love to visit again.

We really enjoyed our stay, the scenery was amazing and it was a great location to go for some great days out to local beaches and a short drive from Llandudno.

The only thing that could be improved is stronger Wi-Fi but that’s the only minor thing.

Our second stay at Cefn Isaf.

Beautiful views and great family sized property. Wi-Fi a little temperamental, and also no btmobile signal, but it didn't detract from a great stay. Would definitely recommend.

An amazing rural cottage with stunning views and incredible space both inside and out.

The area is excellent for places to visit and we were particularly pleased with the variety of places which allowed dogs in ( Tram at great Orme, Bodafon farm park, Gwrych castle and Llangollen railway ). Brilliant amenities and a lovely selection of toys for our young children. We were a bit apprehensive about the steps between rooms with an 18month old, but we need not have worried. She just coped going down them or we shut the doors. The owners are really helpful and could answer all our questions. Definitely a holiday to remember.

Lovely property in a beautiful setting.

Waking up to the view of the hills and the baaing of the "woolly neighbours" was a joy. As some reviews have stated wi-fi was intermittent but still useable, and anyway your on holiday, put the mobiles and laptops away for a few days and enjoy the surroundings and the peace and quiet of the countryside.

Fantastic holiday home!

I hope we get to come back here again soon, the house is perfect, it has everything you need, is very spacious and comfortable and is in a prime location for days out. Lots if stuff to do within 30mins drive of the house, we recommend ‘greenwood forest’ for a day out with the kids. The garden was perfect for our family dog and 7 year old, we managed a bbq in the sun too! Massive thanks to the owners for showing our son the tractor and how it operates, he really loved that and for leaving my mum a birthday present knowing we were there to celebrate her 60th. I would 100% recommend and use this house again.

We had a fabulous family holiday.

The property was beautiful, surrounded by stunning scenery. We had absolutely everything provided you could think of aswell as lots of little extras, plenty of space and very comfortable beds. My children loved the garden and football table. The wifi is not great but luckily we went away to get away from everything. Overall 10/10 and we will definitely be returning!

Really nice property.

Very quiet and peaceful. Within reach of plenty of local attractions.

This was our second stay at Cefn Isaf and it was as enjoyable as our first visit in 2019.

The house is very comfortable and has a very efficient heating system. We always enjoy having breakfast in the kitchen and watching the sheep grazing outside (or are they watching us?). Although in the Welsh countryside, it is only a short drive to the coast and the golden sands of Colwyn Bay and Rhos on Sea. An ideal location for a family holiday. We hope to return.

A lovely stay - as usual.

The house was lovely, spacious and in a beautiful setting.

The owners were very friendly and helpful. The garden was beautiful and very secure for the dog.

Beautiful house in a fabulous setting but I feel it's been neglected while closed for Covid.

Property was very damp in places, which meant wood lice were rife in every room. Air fresheners and the smell of fresh paint initially hid this on arrival but mould on the light fittings and the walls inside kitchen cupboards along with dried goods in the cupboards being solid were all evidence of damp. Showers were in need of a good clean to remove the mould and the main bathroom window was broken so didn't open. Crockery and towels were also very well used and in need of replacing. If you're planning to use the kitchen then take extra tea towels and hand towels as only one of each was provided. Throws on the sofas were dirty as was one of the sofas and there was a large stain on one bedroom carpet. All things easily remedied and if done so this will be a fabulous property to stay at. It just needs some TLC right now. All in all a disappointing stay as couldn't contact Sykes to discuss whilst there either.

Would liked the owners to let themselves be known would love to have booked for next year for the same time but the price hike is so much I think it’s abroad again

Very spacious house and garden in beautiful, peaceful surroundings with stunning views.

Spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The Welsh mountain sheep were a great attraction and kept the children very interested!

The house and garden was perfect secure and private.

Very very peaceful apart from the animals. Outside toilet was great as you didn't have to go through the house. Watch the steps down into the living room which you get use to quickly. Wifi difficult to connect to but it is rural Wales. All in all a lovely peaceful setting Thank you Jones family

The holiday itself was great.

But the nightmare that proceeded it was not. Due to your policy during lockdown of not issuing refunds I spent hours on the phone to yourself and my solicitor and travel insurance. Just as my solicitor was about to issue legal proceedings you issued a refund for my Cornwall holiday. That meant I went ahead with the Welsh holiday. Now the prices for your cottages are so high our friends can’t join us next year - but even then I probably would be very careful about booking with you again as I don’t think Sykes is trustworthy.

The place was in a great position with fantastic views.

As the weather was so bad we could have done with a tumble dryer. Especially having a large dog with us, we needed to dry her towels. Couldn’t always get a signal in the evenings so had to wait to go out next day. Overall a great place.

Perfect for a family, large enclosed garden was enclosed for dogs to play in.

Inside cottage was really set out, nice large living room with spectacular view and large television. Kitchen got everything needed well set out. Outside BBQ area. Stairs no more difficult than the average staircase. 3 good size bedrooms. Ample parking outside away from road. In a good situation to visit lots of places. All in all we had a good comfortable holiday thanks to Mr & Mrs Jones.

The cottage was brilliant.

Lots of room for all 7 of us. Garden ideal for children, lots of running about space and lovely views for adults relaxing outdoors. All modern facilities and beautifully appointed. The pictures looked good, the reality was better. Would highly recommend.

One of the best for family holidays stunning location this was our second time there it just gets better would recommend it to anyone

The property was spotlessly clean, spacious and very comfortable.

It was very quiet and we enjoyed the fantastic views across the countryside. The house is well located for visiting the coast - Llandudno, Rhos on Sea etc and the numerous castles in the area. We enjoyed the slate museum, the zoo, and historic houses and gardens - one on Angelsey which we reached in 50 minutes. We hope to return as there is so much more to see. The house was perfect for us and our adult son who has Down's Syndrome with some balance and perception problems had no dificulty at all on the stairs or anywhere else around the house.

I did make three suggestions in the visitors book that we think would improve the holiday home.

1. A notice "Mind The Step" between kitchen and living room. There were two near falls as did not notice step. 2. A shelf erected in the wardrobe in the smallest bedroom as there wasn't enough drawers to put items. They had to keep some of their belongings in their bags. 3. A stool would be good to have in bathroom as people with leg problems needed to sit down. We enjoyed our holiday. The holiday home is in a lovely situation with stunning views.

A very enjoyable holiday home , plenty of room ,nice size garden for a medium size dog to enjoy, lovely views over open country side, not to far from shops and attractions, just the place to get away and relax.

Everything you could need. Views are stunning. Close enough to visit places along North Wales coast. Would definitely recommend :)

Very disappointed in this accommodation.

The property was very cold and unwelcoming. The stairs were narrow and steep, totally unsuitable for anyone with even mild mobility problems. There was food rubbish under the kitchen sink. According to the owner there is a downstairs toilet, it is an outside lavatory with a plastic roof a short door and no washhand basin. As I could not manage the stairs we did not stay. The owner was difficult and unsympathetic refusing us any compensation. Would not recommend.

Cefn Isaf was an ideal property for the three generations of our family party.

Comfortable for the grandparents, relaxing for the parents and a safe and fun environment for the grandchildren. The combination of being in the country but so close to the seaside was ideal. The layout of the house was quirky but great fun, especially the sheep looking in through the kitchen window. Facilities and ameneties were pentiful and well maintained and the decor was clean and fresh. For us, a great choice.

It was are first time going on a cottage holiday and using Sykes cottages and both experiences were absolutely amazing had an amazing time for the new year in north wales at a lovely farm house called cef isaf, dolwen, Colwyn it’s was only 10 mins to the old Colwyn beach which was dog friendly and another 10 minutes further down the coast to landudno and the great orm would highly recomend, in fact we loved that much as a family we’ve already stated looking for another cottage/ farm house for the summer.

The Cottage was very very nice.

The view to the landscape was wonderful, in the morning sheep looked through the kitchen window. The Garden was safely fenced in so that our dog could play there in peace. The Equipment was extensive, there were even toys. An excellent starting point for trips to the sea and Snowdonia.

The property made such a difference as it was so beautiful and located in the most stunning of areas.

It was also perfectly located for getting out and about to see all the sights North Wales has to offer. We would love to return and will one day.

Cefn Isaf is the perfect family holiday home.

Spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Superb location and fantastic scenery. So many of North Wales’ attractions and beaches within very easy travelling distance. Cannot think of any negatives.

Cefn Isaf is set in a peaceful location, but only a few minutes drive from the North Wales coast.

The cottage itself is well equipped and very comfortable and the view from the garden across the valley is lovely. The garden is also very safe and secure for children and dogs. We really enjoyed our stay, and I'm sure we'll be returning before long.

Fantastic house with incredible views.

The house was very clean and has plenty of room with everything required for a great holiday. It also has a big, fully enclosed garden so was great for our lively corgi to run around in... as well as the rest of us playing badminton and swingball etc. The house is also well situated for exploring North Wales. All in all a great place to holiday if you want a peaceful, relaxing holiday.

Beautifully quiet cottage with fantastic views over the fields and valley.

Good location for visits to Conwy, Llandudno, Colwyn Bay and Snowdonia. All local roads to and from the Cottage are very narrow, hilly and twisty with poor forward visibility and are very daunting at first, but you get used to it after a while and most drivers seem to drive with care and use the passing points considetately.

The cottage is in a lovely location, close enough to the coast but we still felt that we were right in the middle of the countryside.

The cottage was very clean and spacious with all the facilities/utilities that we needed. The views across the countryside are beautiful and we loved being able to see the sheep right next to the cottage and also the pheasant that came to be fed seed every day! Would definitely stay here again.

Out in the quiet countryside but within easy reach of coast and amenities if you want them. Best of both worlds.

We spent a lovely Christmas at Cefn Isaf.

Beautiful location and we really appreciated the sunrises and sunsets seen from the front windows. Accommodation was pristine and very well equipped and the real Christmas tree and other tasteful decorations gave a welcoming feel.We enjoyed a visit to Bodnant which even at this time of year was beautiful. Overall, our Christmas break was really magical.

Our family had a most enjoyable holiday in an immaculately appointed former farmhouse which was situated in an idyllic peaceful location.

We loved the fantastic views and the great garden which was enjoyed by us all including Henry our dog.The property was comprehensively fitted out with nothing missing at all.Will definitely recommend to friends and family.

Perfect for our family holiday. Only small niggle was lack of inside toilet and wash facility on ground floor. Otherwise excellent.

Lovely house, beautiful setting and amazing back garden.

Really enjoyed our week at Cefn Isaf. Only minor drawback was the very narrow country lanes you need to drive down to get to the nearby towns. Take care if you have a big car.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cefn Isaf, it was an amazing family holiday, the large garden was very much enjoyed by all, kids and grown ups alike.

The house has been very tastefully decorated and the amenities are great. The owners were on hand to assist with a small unexpected issue (after a bout of heavy rain), and were more than helpful, mindful and kind. We hope to come back again next year.. the only negative thing I can say about the whole experience was, that at the end of the week we simply didn't want to go home.

Extremely clean, well presented and warm. Fantastic garden for our dog and 2 small children. Location was good for nearby tourist locations of Colwyn Bay, Llandudno and Conwy. Fabulous cottage with plenty of space.
