Bryn Derfel

We loved our stay at Bryn Derfel.

The house was lovely and had everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting out in the back garden, looking at the views of the sea and hills from the front window. The best are so comfy and things like beach bags, towels n even a bucket and spade were provided for our short walk to the beach. The location is perfect for a beach holiday and only a 5 min Drive to Portmadog. The welcome hamper was a nice touch. We appreciated that. Also message's from the host, wishing us a safe journey. We highly recommend this property and would definitely book again. Thanks for a truly memorable stay.

Our fourth visit to Bryn Derfel and this time we booked it for two weeks.

That should give some indication of how good it is. The owner, Victoria, catered for all our requests and even left a card and a bottle of wine to celebrate my wife's birthday. The view from the front of the property is captivating and we spent many hours enjoying it.

We could not fault anything. The house was beautifully furnished, equipped and very comfortable. The location was spot on. We would certainly book the property again when we stop in Borth Y Gest. Thank you to the owners for making are holiday great.

What a fantastic property!

! Everything we needed for our break was provided by the property owner including an amazing Easter welcome hamper that made the arrival even more special.. The location of the house is so perfect with wonderful coastal walks just seconds from the front door. Borth y Gest is such a special place to stay, we have stayed many times before.. This was our second visit to Bryn Derfel.

The house itself stands in a wonderful location a quiet street within a literal stones throw of the sea. From the front door there are Hills, Woods, and Beaches to walk to. The coastal path is Beautiful. The accommodation is simply wonderful. Comfortable and welcoming. The kitchen is well equipped and we were very happy here once again. It was a wrench to leave and I fully intend to return.

We really enjoyed ourselves despite the at times inclement weather.

Bryn Derfel is a lovely house and a very warm, comfortable and welcoming base to return to on a cold day. We would love to return and we would recommend it to anyone.

Love Borth-y-Gest and been visiting for years but needed to stay in a different rental and thankfully opted for Bryn Derfel.

Brilliantly located so you can watch the sea from the window seats, house warm and clean and beds incredibly comfortable. Would have been 5 stars as everything would have been perfect with more mugs and the shower needed changing half way through our stay. Don’t hesitate book it - just not in the week we want next year !!

We stayed in the house for 6 nights with our little dog, Millie and had the most wonderful time.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a lovely welcome basket and a thoughtful card which was such a nice touch. The beds were extremely comfortable and the house was warm and cosy throughout our stay. Everything was spotless and fully equipped with everything we needed for a great week. The location was absolutely perfect with beautiful beaches and scenic walks just a stroll away. We would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend !

Clean and well presented. A lovely cottage in a great area

This house is a real home from home.

The host is lovely and very accommodating when we had a little issue with the wi-fi (us problem). The beds are comfy and the rooms are large. The kitchen is well equipped and the games room is a real bonus for those rainy days! Location wise - simply stunning. Our dog got very used to her morning walk to the beach, and our kids loved rock pooling, scrambling and generally finding all the little coves. Seaview cafe is great food and the staff are lovely and we really enjoyed fish and chips in town. Considering that it was the first week in September we had lovely weather, even when it rained it was short lived but it didn't matter. This place is a little peace of heaven if you are looking for peace and tranquility.

This was our third stay at Bryn Derfel.

The grandchildren would not want to go anywhere else. A lovely comfortable house in a quiet and peaceful street with close proximity to the sea. After a long day at the beach, access to the property could be made through the garage/games room and the rear patio where the accumulation of sand could be hosed off. A well thought out property for a stress free holiday.

Absolutely lovely holiday home.

The location is perfect, beautiful sea views and just about on the beach. The property was spotlessly clean and all the furniture seemed new and very comfortable. A real home from home. The bed was the comfiest I have ever slept in. Plenty of room for 4 of us and our cocker spaniel. The games room in the garden was a bonus, snooker table, darts board, football table and record player. There is everything you would possibly need in the house, the owners have thought of everything, lots of games and books too which was nice. Plenty of cleaning products supplied, and toiletries. Renovated to a high standard. Lovely personal touches from the owner too, she messaged on our journey to wish us a happy holiday, a great welcome pack with a card, and wished us a safe trip going home. There is nothing not to like here, we will definitely return.

Wonderful place to visit.

Lots of walks in the area and very close to Portmadog. We hardly used the car as the neighborhood is amazing. We used the kitchen every day but still had options in the area for lunch or dinner. The beds were super comfortable and the shower extremely relaxing. The games room was an added bonus! The outside toilet and hose pipe were a pleasant surprise. Can’t wait to be back.

The property was finished to a high standard with many thoughtful touches; all contributing to a lovely holiday home.

Communication with the owner was excellent and I would definitely stay here again, and also recommend to family / friends.

Lovely property in a great location.

The furnishing and decor was to a high standard throughout. Furthermore, the beds were really comfortable enabling a good nights sleep. Borth y Gest is a quiet, scenic village with just a couple of places to eat and drink. The sea view cafe is well worth a visit.

The cottage was simply lovely everything you could want.

However perhaps a warning sign about the height of the ceiling when exiting the kitchen (there is a sign but not in the kitchen itself). Also another hand towel would have been useful. But still a lovely cottage.

This was our third visit to Bryn Derfel.

The location and facilities bring us back. It’s a lovely house to relax and spend time in when the weather isn’t great, and we had some sunny days and very wet days this time. The house has always been clean and well presented on arrival but this time, it was absolutely immaculate. Parking is on road but plenty of space around the corner. With the beach on your doorstep, Porthmadog a short walk away and mountains and great places to visit nearby, what more could you ask for? I don’t this will be our last visit!

A beautiful home from home.

Tastefully decorated and furnished . Comfy beds. Views from the front towards the estuary. Beautiful walks on the doorstep. Lots to see and do in the area. We love this area and can't wait to return. We would definitely stay in this cottage and would recommend to others.

The property is one of the best I can remember staying in.

The facilities are very impressive and the location is simply wonderful. We had a great time although it has to be said that for a holiday in February we were very lucky with the weather.

The attention to detail is very well thought out and the house is in a perfect location for access to the beach and walking distance to the town. We would definitely like to stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay.

The cottage was lovely. Great comfy sofas, lovely soft bed linen, nice fluffy towels. Well appointed and very clean, the owners had thought of everything. Great little touches like the mini torches and the nice welcome pack including the gravy bones for our little pooch. We had amazing weather which added to the enjoyment . Would highly recommend , Borth y Gest and it’s beaches are very special.

The owners have done an amazing job in transforming Bryn Derfel into the a wonderful home by the sea.

Great location, a short walk along a scenic coastal path to a lovely sandy beach which is perfect for children, dogs and grownups! Seaview is a fantastic cafe in walking distance and Porthmadog is just a short drive away with its many restaurants, pubs and shops. The home itself is extremely comfortable, light, spacious and the owners had thought of everything to make our stay a huge success. Many thanks to them. We have family who own a property in the next road so for us Bryn Derfel and it’s location was 100% perfect and we will definitely return.

Well equipped and nicely finished. Borth-Y-Gest is a very quiet spot and reasonably close to Porthmadog. We would love to stay again soon.

Where do I start?

The property is stunning, the location is perfect, the owners have done a beautiful job renovating the house and we had a fabulous time! Everything had been thought about and provided for. We loved the games room, and being able to sit and enjoy the sunshine in the evening. You are close to everything yet far enough away to relax. Beaches and walks very close by, Porthmadog 5 mins away with everything you need. We would love to come back!
