Beech Tree Cottage

Getting to the cottage was a bit challenging with a very narrow lane to access it.

We got used to it by the end of the week and weren't bothered by any rare oncoming traffic. Google Maps doesn't have the right location unless you make sure to type "Sykes, Beech Tree Cottage" - https://maps.app.goo.gl/17SuE3xaRGCyQ6tV7?g_st=ac The cottage feels isolated even though there's another cottage just below, mainly hidden behind a hedge. The local sheep are friendly and came right onto the property. There's a beautiful view over Caernarfon and Anglesey, just above the cottage is a bench to sit on and take in the wonderful view. Unfortunately, it was so windy the week we were there that we didn't get to enjoy the bench or the outside table. Inside, the cottage is tastefully furnished: even the curtains and dining chair cushions match! There are pictures on the walls, of the cottage itself and local sites. The flooring is slate tiles in the main area as well as in both bathrooms. Every armchair and settee was a recliner, though the electric one by the log burner was a bit gentler than the other mechanical ones. On arrival the dining table had been laid for the number of guests plus there was a bottle of wine, a carton of milk, a packet of biscuits plus tea/coffee/sugar sachets. Even the log burner had been set up with kindling and logs and just needed to be lit. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of cutlery, crockery and other utensils. The beds were all comfortable. The curtains were thick enough to block out a fair amount of the sunlight. Upstairs, the main bedroom had a recliner, a TV (which came on at random times in the day) plus plenty of storage space. There is a beautiful wooden staircase off the main living space, and part way up there is a shelf full of local guides and plenty of novels and other books. Downstairs there is a corner with magazines, games, toys and even jigsaw puzzles. The only downside of the cottage was the level of cleanliness. Some of the crockery was chipped and one item still had ketchup glued on. The cutlery drawer had crumbs in it, both outside the cutlery tray and in with the sharp knives and teaspoons, as did the space above the dishwasher. The upstairs bathroom had dried-on soap on the grab rail and when unrolling the non-slip mat, bits of dried soap dropped out. There were cobwebs on the window ledges, in the corners of each room and on most of the stairs. The carpets weren't that well vacuumed but the downstairs vacuum made a lot of noise without doing much cleaning. The tap in the kitchen dripped almost constantly. I'd rather have told the owners directly rather than on here about those issues, but there was only an emergency land-line number.

Lovely cottage in amazing location.

No major issues. Could improve the sea views (already stunning) by keeping the long hedge low and improve the mountain view by the removal of a small hornbeam. Maybe a bench at the front of the house. This would be shady in sunny weather. Like the Med when we were there. We loved it.

We travel a lot as a family and this place was one of the best places we have stayed so far.

The location was lovely, wonderful view as shown in the pictures, inside is cozy, comfortable and clean. We had a little issue with the bathroom upstairs but the host was very kind and quick in sorting it out despite the fact that it was an Easter weekend and we had a wonderful rest of the stay. We definitely recommend to others and we will happily stay again. Thank you!

Easy access out to the hills, and close by to local towns with plenty to do.

5 adult family members had a great stay at Beech Tree Cottage.

The views are fantastic over Caernarfon and Anglesey, the cottage feels very private and the garden is a beautiful place to sit. There are beautiful walks on the doorstep. Everything we needed was provided, along with some nice touches, such as the dinner table being set out, ready for our cordon-bleu cooking. Couldn't fault it, and we hope to return.

Beautyfull cosy cottage with christmas decoration so was a nice suprise when you stay at christmas time, huge garden for a dog with lovely view and quiet neighborhood .

This should be a 5/5 cottage but needs more attention from the owner/manager The cleaning needs to be improved and the maintenance of the facilities should be reviewed and amended where neccesary Example - 4 of the dining room chairs are unusuable for fear of them failing - evidence of multiple repairs is claer but these are failing badly Compares very poorly to pur last SYKES rental

Beech tree cottage was excellent.

The views from the front door over to Caernarfon, the Menai and Anglesey were amazing, and the sunsets provided our daily end to each day. The cottage is very well equipped, quiet and comfortable. We walked straight from the front door over to Llanberis on a great track, and the paths up Yr Wyddfa are a 15 min drive away. A great holiday in a great cottage.

The property was cosy and as described on the website.

As a worm Welcome, the table was already layed and lights were on, as we arrived. Bedrooms: The mattresses were really good - not too soft or worn out. I could sleep very well there. The bedding happily was not a synthetic, that would charge electrically, as we experienced it in other properties. Wardrobes were sufficient for all clothing to put in. Bathrooms: The two bathrooms (one with shower, one with bathtube and shower in the bathtube) were sufficient and the shower even was provided with a mixer tap (I hope, this is the right word for "Mischbatterie"), which is not always usual in GB :) Living room/ kitchen: Every sofa and the leather armchair were extendable, so you could lay there with feet raised as relaxing as possible. The table was sufficient for the three of us. If really six persons would sit and eat there, the space at the table would possibly be a little tight. Three days we used the woodburner in the living room. Enough wood was provided and the warmth was very cosy and welcoming because of some stormy and not too warm days. There also are electric heaters, so you don´t have to get cold. The kitchen equippement was really o.k., except the usual little things you always miss in holiday homes, f.e. a butter dish, eggslicer and other little tools like that. If you want to make coffee, better bring a hand-filter and filter bags. But all in all, the needed tools were there. Additionally to the fridge there was a freezer with enough space for storing frozen food. Surroundings: The view is phantastic and worth booking alone. The hill, the house is build on, is a wonderfull starting point for long or short walks, always accompanied with stunning views over hills and up to the menai strait and Anglesey. You certainly will miss the view, when you are back home (as we do). To get bread, baguettes or pasties, butter, cheese and so on for breakfast, you can drive 5 Minutes zu a shell gas station with included little store. To shop for cooking, best is, to drive to Cernafon, f.e. Tesco. It´s about a ten minutes drive. Behind the house, there is a patio with table and chairs to eat on sunny days. Also there is a bench with wonderfull view on a little grashill beside the house and there is a clothes dryer behind the house, where you can hang your clothes after washing them in the washing machine, which is suited in a little outhouse. You are also allowed, to use the wonderfull little garden of the friendly neighbours, where three or four benches invite you to sit and relax. For every kind of daily tour, wether to the mountains of snowdonia or the beaches of anglesey, this location is central and near to both sides, sea and mountains. The only thing, that we have to "complain" is, that no one came in the middle of our two weeks stay, to clean up and provide new towels and linnen - although this was promised in the handout. And also no one came on thursday or friday, to take the garbage cans down the access-path, for beeing emptied in the morning - although announced in the handout. So we did that ourselves, to have enough space in the garbage cans again. This is the reason, we gave not the very best marks in "maintainance". But that little irritation should be no reason not to book this facility! If we ever go to north wales again, we first will try to book this property again! We say "thank you" for a wonderfull stay!

The villa was very nice, the views are amazing, lots of storage space and a good warming fireplace.

A spacious kitchen with quite a bit of equipment. It would be nice if they left some spices and oil. It seems complicated to get to the visa and I would recommend stating in the arrival details that there is a wider and more convenient way to get there (after the yellow house). It would also be desirable that they put a blind on the window in the shower on the second floor - there is glare in the morning from the sun and it is not so pleasant at night either.

Beautiful cottage with everything we needed for our stay, modern but still in keeping with an ‘olde world effect’ Would definitely recommend , fulfilled our expectations and more!

Beech Tree Cottage is a fantastic holiday home.

It had everything that we needed and more. The completely closed in garden/driveway was wonderful for the dogs and a lovely place to sit and admire the views across to the Isle of Angelsey. It was a good location for Llanberis, Betsw y Coed and Caernarfon. The train to the top of Snowdon (from Llanberis) was absolutely brilliant and well worth the money. It was our first time to Wales and we are now hooked, so will be back. Would definitely stay at Beech Tree Cottage again. Thank you

A lovely, warm, comfortable cottage in a great location.

Our stay was peaceful and quiet, the cottage had everything we needed, comfy bed, reliable wifi, easy to get around all the places we wanted to see in this beautiful part of Wales. One of the best cottages we have ever stayed in, and hopefully we will get the chance to return. Thank you.

Stayed at this property four times now… amazed how quiet and relaxing it is with great views, easy access to the mountains and local town.

The cottage was so cosy, especially once we lit the wood burner, beautiful, kitchen and family room. A very well maintained property with a great atmosphere Will definitely be staying again.

Ideal for dog owners, reasonably large enclosed garden.

Great views of Caernarfon ,Castle and Anglesey. Clean well furnished and comfortable cottage, would definitely consider staying again. Use the access directions from owners not your satnav or you may have a dent in your alloys.

Superb hillside setting for a gorgeous cottage.

Just as described and clean, airy and spacious inside. Rare in our experience to find a cottage that has all the cutlery, crockery and utensils that might be needed, and garden furniture, bbq etc all present and in working order. Beautifully laid out for us on arrival - table was set and a welcoming bottle of wine (and milk) in the fridge. Terrific views from the garden and wonderful bird life while we were there (cuckoo, linnet, greater whitethroat, Raven etc). We plan to re-book later in the year. Thanks.

As I have already said in 2 emails the double bed was very hard not conducive to myself with arthritis of the spine and hips I ended up trying to sleep in the recliner chair but in the end my husband insisted we cut our holiday short because of the pain the sleeping arrangements were causing me but to anyone without my condition the cottage will probably be perfect as it has everything you could wish for

The cottage was even prettier than captured in photographs and a lovely first impression made with Chris arranging festive touches of Xmas tree and lights; a welcome bottle of wine and shortbread and the table beautifully set for Christmas for our family of five.

The weather was wild and windy but the cottage was very warm and toasty in all rooms between the log fire and electric storage heaters and when the clouds did clear we were pleasantly surprised by expansive sea views along with the beautiful rugged mountainous landscape. The secure garden was ideal for our small dog to roam freely and safely. There was a power outage in the whole area on Christmas Eve, long enough to be exciting and memorable but not too long for any great inconvenience. Chris was on the phone immediately after contacting power company directly herself and came round with supplies of candles and other resources - which we never actually needed but great to know help was readily available if required whilst not being intrusive.
